Chuck " The Ice Man" Liddell : 37 years old MMA record : 20-3-0
Quinton " Rampage" Jackson : 28 years old MMA record 26-6-0

SHould check the thread below this on the Ultimate Fighter Thread, practically that is our MMA thread.
All of us (which is 4) think Liddell via either KO or TKO.
I got Liddell TKO (Strikes) over Rampage.
I like em' both but I like Rampage more.

i seen the ultimate fighter thread , but thats for one show. i created a seperate thread for the ppv, have you seen the first jackson vs liddell fight? liddell got man handled by rampage, sure liddell got 2 or 3 lucky punches in but it didnt stop rampage from beating the living tar out of liddell . after the fight was over liddell was still on the ground for a good few minutes. thats right there tells ya how good of a whoopin jackson put on liddell.

Actually Chcuk is alot different of a fighter than the first time. So is Rampage. Rampage has been beaten a few times and Chuck has not lossed since then. Chuck's takedown defense is alot better then it was then. His movement is also better. I see Rampage as being on a downward spiral, sure he beat Lindland but what else has he done? There is no way this fight happens like the first one, Chuck by TKO.

Have to agree completely. Jackson is a good value bet +170 last time I looked, but that's about it. I think Liddell will TKO due to strikes in round 3. Jackson's best bet is to wear Liddell down. I don't see it happening, but as always, when fists are flying, anything can happen.

did you catch the recent liddell ortiz fight. tito was wearing him out wrather quickly, quicker than any other champ that ive seen so far. liddell just got lucky. im not really a fan of either ( i like rashad evans who is gonna beat tito at UFC 73), its like jackson's trainer said, everyone in the MMA world has someones elses number ie: liddell has ortiz's , and tito has shamrocks (ken not frank). but liddell as i said before got man handled who ever said that his standup is better, ive not seen a change in it , just the same to me. just because liddell is UFC's goldenboy doesnt mean he isnt beatable ( look at hughes, franklin who were UFC golden boys but got beaten by fighters who no one thought had a rats *** of a chance of winning.
theres always someone that your not going to be able to beat. liddell will not beat jackson this time. hes aging and wearing out quicker than he should be. i wouldnt be suprised if couture and liddell fought again that couture could beat him even though coutures 1-2 against liddell . liddell is just saying the same crap every fight. " im a knock him out first round" but when was the last time he did that? im rootin for the underdog on this one. the couture syvlia fight could hint as to how this is gonna go. i dunno but we will see. my prediction: Jackson TKO 4th round

good opinion , but my question is, what has changed with liddell? he still throws the same aimless punches that land lucky , liddell even said him self that he never knows if his its are gonna land, so he needs to work on accuracy wrather than throwing aimlessly. another question. how do you see jackson on a downward spiral, chucks 20-3-0 and 37 years old, but jackson is 26-6-0 and 28 years old. sure jackson has 3 more losses but the last time i checked 6 wins trumps 3 losses. chuck is at a stage in his career where when he loses ( this saturday) he's gonna contract shamrock syndrome and still be cocky like he is and start losing matches. Rampage is the future of the light heavyweight division , like tito said " chuck is the last of the mohicans" chuck aint got much longer till he loses.

? do you even know what you are talking about? Tito did not wear him out rather quickly, if so don't you think Tito would have taken him down if Chuck was so tired? Liddell got lucky? Boy you are about as dumb as a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. You can't say Chuck Liddell got lucky, he beat Tito twice by the same thing BOTH times. You keep saying that Chuck has not changed, but he truely has, Chuck Liddell was still a fresh new face in the UFC, he has knocked out the un-knockoutable. Sorbal, Couture, Ortiz all were never knocked out untill Chuck did it, Chuck has knocked all 3 of them out twice. CHuck has beat Randy and Randy is one of the best fighters of all time. He is the Heavyweight Champion now.
I love Rampage, he is a great fighter and a great character, but I think Rampage is rusty still, he wanted more fights before Chuck, that is saying something, he could get extremely nervous and if he fights Chuck like he did Marvin Eastman, Chuck will knock him out in 20 seconds.
So you are saying Georges St. Pierre who was a favorite in the betting pool to beat Matt Hughes had no chance to win and nobody thought they were going to win? HE BEAT MATT HUGHES IN THE BETTING POOL IN VEGAS!!! A lot of people thought Silva would take the title after he demolished a well rounded fighter in Chris Leben in 24 seconds. You are on some crack or something.
Rampage is not even an underdog really, Randy Couture picked him to win and a lot of fans are split 50-50 on who will win, so the ? is who really is the underdog.

Chuck is 37 Years old? That matters because? Randy Couture is 43 and he is the heavyweight champion. You must REALLY be on crack if you are saying Chuck Liddell is going to turn out to be like Ken Shamrock. DO you even know mma? Chuck Liddell is still in his prime in MMA, and everyone is out to get him. IF Rampage wins the belt, he will get crushed by Shogun, or even Wandy. But nobody wants Rampage everyone wants Chuck, so who is the future? Chuck Liddell still is, because there is a mile long line waiting for Chuck's head.
Rampage has been very rusty and not looking good his past 4 fights. So he could be on a downward spirial.
Your talking to two Mixed Martial Artists and you're trying to say we are wrong... funny.

Chuck's punches land lucky? So he's been handed all these wins straight from the hands of Luck? His style is very unorthodox but not lucky. If he can get lucky so often why can't anyone else. And Chuck has changed much since the first fight. His takedown defense is much better. Now, I practice jiu-jitsu (don't do MMA), and like ground fighting much better than standup but even i will say Chuck has got awesome takedown defense. Chuck wins TKO second round. If Jackson wins, i will certainly not be disappointed, as it would make for a very interesting fight that way.

Look Pride and UFC are two totwally different degrees of talent the talent level of the people that Liddell has been fighting and Jackson has been fighting or not even comparible. Jackson will man handle him his jaw is too impressive and Liddell is just a puncher. Your clueless and Liddell needs to quit ducking Wanderlei Silva and thats all I got to say about that!!! I just want to see Fedor come over and dominate UFC....that is my dream right now!!
Chuck needs to quick DUCKING WANDY!?
Who is sitting out till 2008!!!?
Wandy.
You're MMA talk is more stupid than anyone from Pittsburgh.
So Jackson is going to "Man handle Chuck" please you are living in the past, Chuck was still a fresh face in MMA, Rampage just ate him alive because Chuck was not as well polished as he is now.
The talent level that Rampage and Chuck have fought the advantage goes to CHUCK.

What this all comes down to is that someone hates the UFC and likes Pride alot more. As someone who trains in mma, I like all the organizations, I don't have a loyalty to any certain one. Rampage has fought the better fighters?? Who...like Marvin Eastman, Dong Sik Yoon or Hirotaka Yopkoi?
Ok, so he fought Lindland (which I still think Matt won that fight) the last tough guy he fought other than that was Shogun and he lost.
Rampage has better striking? He leaves the middle wide open. It is common knowledge that in order to beat Rampage you need to throw straight punches. Those will easily get inside his hands just like Wany did to him. Wandy hit him with a straight right that rocked him and then finished him with knees. How is his jaw impresssive when Wandy has exposed it twice?
Let's talk about ducking Silva, Silva has gotten his arse handed to him the last two times. He has been on a downward spiral (I hate to say that because he is one of my favorite fighters). There is no need for Chuck to fight a guy who has back to back losses. When Silva decides to start winning again then he will fight Chuck, but not until then.
Also, Tito never wore down Chuck, Chuck is a patient fighter that waits to land that big shot and then he goes in for the kill. Tito did nothing to wear Chuck down.
Also, I am not rooting for Chuck because he is the "UFC golden boy" as you put it. I happen to like Chuck and think he has done some amazing things in this sport. Then you want to go talking ***** about Rich. That I don't like because I happen to know Rich and have been taught a few things by him. The guy wasn't the overwhelming favorite going against Silva. Many thought that it was a bad style match up for Rich. Do you watch anything other than Pride? Because I am pretty certain you don't or you would know that Matt was actually the underdog in his fight against GSP.
As for Chcuk saying he is going to KO everyone in the first round, that is how he sees the fight going so of course that is what he is going to say.
When was the last time he did that? Well he TKO'd Sobral in the first at 62 and he KO'd Randy in the first at 57 so I guess he is usaully a man of his word.
I would suggest you go to a local gym and train for a little while and maybe learb about the sport some before you continue to act like a sherdogger and talk like a sofa striker!

Can't wait to see this fight. No one can honestly say for sure who will win. Personally I think Liddell pulls it out, with a KO in the second round.
Judging by Rampage's comments after the Eastman fight he doesn't seem too confident in the UFC yet to take on Chuck. But he's got more than a puncher's chance to win...

I noticed that you only bashed his comment but have nothing to say about mine? Typicall!
As for Randy, Horn and Tito, all three are VERY respected amongst fighters! Randy is 43 and is currently a champion and is known for his strong work ethic, Horn is widely respected for his submission game. Actually, alot of camps have Jeremy come in and help them with subs before fights. Plus he has a ton fights on his record. Tito is not that respected with alot of fans (like me, I can't stand him) but amongst fighters (alos like me) he gets tons of respect for his cardio and his strength. He really is a machine when he trains. Why do you think so many people go up to Big Bear to train before a fight? Ask almost any pro fighter and they will tell you that all three of those guys are highly respected. Just because some local fan doesn't respect them means nothing.
Then to say Randy is not a legend of the sport??? Do you even watch MMA? Randy has done things noone has done, he is amazing and will go down as one of the all time greats of this sport. I hate to say this but let's see how your man crush Wandy does since he has taken a beating. Let's see if he cancome back and regain the glory he once had like Randy did!

Randy Couture, Horn and Ortiz??? I am going to act like you were kidding and not comment any further cause that almost made my head explode. Next your going to say Tank Abbott is a legend I am sure and that Fetal Fred Ettishes Fetal style is more deadly than Gracie Jiu Jitsu.....nice try sparky but you lost me after that comment. Not to take anything from those three guys but they are not NEAR the MOST respected fighters in MMA!!! Your an arse congratulations!!!
I'm surprised that your such a big Fedor fan but give Randy zero credit. Fedor himself even stated that before he got into MMA that he was a Randy Couture fan and learned a lot from watching him fight.
It's understandable if you like PRIDE over UFC, but don't let that cloud your judgement about Couture. The man is as talented as anyone who ever fought in MMA...

HMMMMM. Seems like i was the only one here rooting for rampage jackson to win, but every one else thought chuck was gonna knock him out. LOOKS LIKE YOU WERE ALL WRONG. didnt even get out of the first round. chuck was right, there was gonna be a first round KO . Liddell just got KTFO. BOOOYAAAH to ya all.

Rampage wins TKO 1:53 fisrt round.
Go Rampage. I'm glad for him. For those who didn't see, chuck swung low for a body shot leaving his left chin exposed and Rampage popped him on the button. Chuck fell and Rampage pounded him with about four shots to the face. Big John stepped in and that was the end of that. Chuck was in disbelief.

Nope I called it too!!! I was POSITIVE Jackson would win Liddell is overrated just like I said....Pride fighters are on a different level right now!!! I love UFC also for the record I have just watched both factions for a long time and am a real STUDENT of the sport....I dont just get on and spout about how im an MMA fighter!!!
Yes I was wrong, Jackson won and did so in dominating fashion. Is Chuck over rated? No he is not! Are Pride fighters better? Well let's look and see what happened to Mirko! I don't think one can say that pride fighters are better than UFC fighters.
As for spouting about how I am an mma fighter, I suggets you keep that mouth shut. I do train mma with Jorge Gurgel and Rich Franklin as well as Mike Patt. If you doubt that then come hang out with me and let;s see what you have to offer.
I am not an odds maker and who can possibly be 100% right in today's world of MMA? Nobody.
I got lucky and was able to watch the fights and I enjoyed them. I hope you are happy that you got to come on here and talk smack mister "student of the sport!"
Do you actually know anything about mma? That i highly doubt but I will give you credit for calling this win. The sun shines on a dog's arse every once in a while!

I do have one question though. i live on the other side of southern ohio about 3.5 hrs from cincyin a town called the plains in athens county. im starting kick boxing training in june with kick boxing legend sam jones sr. who trained a boxer named brian camaechis out of glouster who has a boxing record of 25-0 and is suposedly being persued by don king.
i also heard of BJJ dojo in marrietta called pride dojo, but i havent looked into it yet, im gonna train in kick boxing for a year and have a fight, and if i feel good after that im gonna train in BJJ, id really like to learn gracie jiu-jitsu but dont know how much of a diffrence there is between the 2. i plan on training in kick boxing for a year, then BJJ for a year then giving MMA shot, isnt there a place in cleveland area called ohio cage fighting or ohio fight fest.

It was a little disappointing that Chuck didn't put up a better fight. Guess Rampage has his number. I'm happy for Rampage, the man is entertaining to say the least. Hopefully he can defend the belt for longer than two fights...

I suggest that you hold off training in kickboxing. Who is teaching you and what type of kickboxing is it? Also. where do you live? All these things are a factor. I suggest taking Muay Thai kickboxing and BJJ. These are the two forms that make a solid mma fighter. It is hard to tell what weight class you should be in without seeing your body type but I would guess from the info you told me that middle weight might be better. This depends on how your body is shaped though, LHW might be the right weight...I suggest you find a good school and start training and get into shape and then let the coaches help you decide which class to fight in.

I didn't see some of the above posts before posting the last one. I don't know what schoo, would be close to your city. Why are you looking for events in Cleveland when there are events in Dayton and Cincy? Why only study kickboxing to start? What happens in your first fight if the guy takes you to the ground? I would train both to start.
As for the legends, yes, I agree that alot of the UFC fans have no idea who some of the great fighters are and how amazing it is to watch them. I still believe Chuck deserves a spot up there just for his sheer dominance of the division. Everybody knows how Chuck fights and very few have been able to stop him.
I also think Fedor is probably not human, he may be a machine from back in the cold war days....some weird russian robot soldier that they were going to try out and never got the chance.
So here is my question....they talked about Dan last night....was that supposed to be an introduction to the UFC and does that mean that now he will fight Rampage for the title?
How insane would that be if Dan won!! He would hold two Pride belts and a UFC title!!!!!!

i didnt know there was events in those two cities, i only knew of the place around the cleveland area because its televised on FSN i believe. if you could give me the names of those events that be great as hell. thanks for the advice on learning both at once wrather than one at a time, that would get a fight a lot quicker.

Ok first of all for me calling a fight wrong and saying that I made an Arse of my self is just completely ridiculous you say that you are 20 but yet you are acting like a 10 year old.
Chuck Liddell looked completely horrible, he looked very uncomfrontable.
You keep saying I am stupid for calling a match wrong and you are trying to rub it in my face, but yet in the early posts I said I loved Rampage and I loved Chuck, but I thought Chuck would take it. Last time I looked you are not Mr. Perfect with predictions fights either.
Callign Tito Ortiz and Jeremy Horn saying that they are not legends is still ridiculous Jeremy Horn has had well over 100 MMA fights, and has won over 80 over them. Tito Ortiz was one of the most dominate fighters for a while in UFC and he is still a force in the UFC.
You still are very ridiculous and you should stop talking about MMA if you are going to act like this.

No we are NOT the same person and have you ever thought that it might be the way you came at him saying he didnt know MMA because he gave his opinion I thought that was extremely arrogant the kid was only trying to give a point and you threw it back in his face. Ya know you may be an MMA fighter but you really shouldnt talk down at people because that doesnt make you right. What if I told you that I lived in Sao Paulo Brazil for a while and trained Gracie Jiu Jitsu with Royce and also trained with Vitor Belfort...would that makre you respect my opinion??? Probably not because your just not very nice!!! But its ok cause I am sure if we actually met we would get along well and probably agree on alot so I am willing to not be rude anymore if you will also do the same. I am an MMA fan and I love fighting period....I know the sport and just want to see it flourish!!!
If you trained with Vitor Belfort and Royce Gracie I would heavily respect your opinion but when you got some kid being completely ignorant about facts and disrespecting legends.
Rude stops here.
Sounds Fair.

Fedor IS a Russian robot, no doubt about it.
I think Dan is giong to fight Rampage, and probably win. That would be sick. Between Rampage, Dan, and Fedor they'll clear out the LHW and HW champs of the UFC.
Palmer_06:
BJJ and MT should definately be your staples. What I disagree with is starting both up at once. To me, that is not optimal. IMO you should develop a base in either BJJ or Muay Thai for at least a year and then add to your game. When you talk about training everything at once, i can just imagine everything being a mess and no dimension of your fighting being proficient enough. That's what i think is wrong with so many fighters today-- they all think they can just learn everything in a year flat. However, this is only my opinion and maybe your best option at 20 is to just jump into everything now if you've had no training whatsoever in the past.

Let's just end the fighting right now and start fresh.
The names of the local events are ICE which is in Cincy and Ohio Xtreme Fighting in Dayton.
What do I think about Gabriel Gonzaga? I think he showed that he is the full package. We know his ground game is great, we have just seen how tough his stand up can be. I think Randy will have his hands full with this kid. Randy likes to take the fight to the ground and GG likes the ground game so that may not be the best option, then again, after what he did to CC standing with him may not be the best option either. I am curious to see how his chin is since he never really got hit the CC match.
My prediction is Gonzaga wins. How? I am not sure...either by decision or TKO.

I think that someone starting out in the sport needs to train both right away to give yourself a good solid base of both styles. I believe that fighters that train in only one style to start end up relying on that style to much. I think the complete Mixed Martial Artist will devote equal time to stand up as well as the ground.
Once you have a solid base to work off of then you could specialize in something...say like taking a month to go to Thailand and train your stand up or going to Brazil to train JJ. I think the one dimensional fighters will be fading very shortly and the guys that can do it all well will be stepping up, guys like GSP and Gonzaga are the future of this sport IMO.

I dunno, when there is a will there is a way, and I really think that Randy Couture will find a way to beat Gabriel. But I will not be surprised if Gabe Go wins, I agree with you this kid has shown to be the perfect package. But I think Randy Couture is going to take him down instead of box with Gabe, because Cro Cop is one hard dude to KO and Gabe did it. I know ICE is having an event very soon and I am trying to find people to go with me so I do not go alone.
Here are some match-ups I really want to see
Lets just call it UFC 78 SHOWDOWN
Headliner:
Heavyweight Championship:
Winner of Randy Couture/Gabriel Gonzalez vs. Josh Barnett/Fedor/Big Nog
Light Heavyweight Championship:
Rampage Jackson vs. Hollywood Henderson
Grude Match:
Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva (they did say Chuck's next opponent most likely will be Wandy)
Grude Match:
Shogun Rua vs. the Winner of Tito Ortiz/Rashad Evans
Heavyweight Battle:
Brandon "The Truth" Vera vs. Josh Barnett/Big Nog
Grudge Match:
Dennis Kang vs. "The Punisher" Jason Lambert
Anybody else got any good matches for it?

I watched the Noguera Barnett fight today it was a beautiful thing to watch those two on the ground I was smiling the whole time. Its neat to see the Japanese fans watch people get on the ground my hope is that American fans begin to understand the sport like they do. That being said I REALLY like this card....my lord that would be flippin SWEEEET!!! I would pay 100 bucks for that pay per view. I think it would mos def be Gonzaga against Fedor though Fedor is not looking right now like he is going to come to UFC due to the fact he doesnt want to be owned by them. Ok so here is how I see these fights going tell me if you agree or disagree.
Gonzaga vs. Fedor (Fedor first round arm-bar)
Jackson vs. Henderson (Henderson 2nd round KO)
Liddell vs. Silva (my personal fav because alot of UFC fans dont know about Silva and I think Silva will KO him first round)
Rua vs. Ortiz (I dont really think it matters who Rua fights he is the class of the division....Rua makes Ortiz tap first round but I cant say how)
Vera vs. Nog (Noguera with the decision)
Kang vs. Lambert ( Lambert KO's him in the first LOL)
I want to see B.J. Penn vs. Matt Hughes again....Penn was destroying him till he ran out of breath....he is a genetic freak and he should not be able to bend that way.....AMAZING!!!
There are lots of fights I would love to see but the ones you put up there are some pretty good ones!!! I would pay to see any of those especially Silva vs. Liddell!!!
I agree about Rua, I honestly think no matter what, Hendo, Liddell, Jackson, Griffin, Jardine ect. have no chance against Rua, I think Ortiz personally would have a great chance against Shogun.
BJ vs. Matt Hughes, BJ always gets gassed within 2 rounds unless he is a lightweight.
BJ's conditioning has never ever ever been the best nor will it ever be.

I think those would be some real intriguing matches.
I would love to see BJ fight Sherk! I think that would be an incredible fight. Although I am not sure Sherk will get passed Hermes. Since Jorge and Hermes are such great friends and they grew up together I will be cheering for Hermes to submit Sherk or KO him.
I think that Vera has a legitimate chance to beat anyone they put in front of him. I also think that Chuck would KO Wandy. Silva has shown a tendency to get KTFO and I think Chuck would work the angles and really aim for the button.
All good amtch ups that I would love to see though.

I think BJ said after this fight he will go back up to welterweight because now and days it is hard for him to cut the weight needed to be a lightweight.
Brandon Vera is a hidden gem to be honest. This guy has lighting quick hands and is very dangerous all around. It is very intriguing to see who he fights next.
I want to see Soko or whatever his name is to come into UFC that would be sick.
Going back to the Sherk/Hermes prediction, Sean has not fought since 64, and I think he is going to come back healthy and furious to prove why he is the champion. I must say, Hermes is hands down one of the most complete lightweight fighters, I think Sherk will win this via decision. I think a Roger Huerta vs. Sean Sherk has been in the making for a while, and hands down I think will be the fight of the year.
Im surprised we really have not talked about Sam Stout/Spencer Fisher. Last year their fight was fight of the year and Spencer Fisher needs to get a win to be considered top 5 for the belt.
