Okay. I am taking this seriously now. This is not a rough draft, this is just an early mock draft.

Pre-Combine Mock Draft Version 3.0

Round 1 Cincinnati Bengals Select: Sedrick Ellis DT/USC
-His size I know scares a lot of you. But he is bigger than Glenn Dorsey, and he is only 1 inch shorter than Dorsey as well. Sedrick Ellis is a big strong guy who can bench 500 pounds. He is going to be a great 3 technique DT, and he will be a force to be messed with. He can get to the QB, and he could relax pressure off the ends.

Round 2 Cincinnati Bengals Select: Lawerence Jackson DE/USC
-I think Lawerence surprisngly drops down here, and we get a steal of the draft. I think that if we can get him, he will make an immediate impact on this team. Him and Ellis work very well together, making each one better. Lawerence Jackson will be the steal of the draft if he makes it to us.

Round 3 Cincinnati Bengals Select: Jonathan Hefney S/Tenn
-I know we have Marvin White and Duke Nukem, along with Kilmer, Busing and Jones, but Kilmer, Busing and Jones really are not that well as Safeties, and Kilmer can be moved to CB. Those 3 guys are really ST players and that might just be it. Hefney is a hard hitter and he is good in coverage. He can also return punts.. Sounds good eh?

Round 3 Cincinnati Bengals Select (Steinbach comp): J Lehman LB/Illinois.
-This kid provides leadership, and phenominal tackling abilities. He is a little slow, but he can stop the run. I like this kid. A lot.

Round 4 Cincinnati Bengals Select: Spencer Larsen LB/Arizona
-We go back to back with the Linebackers, because our LB core could all be gone. Thurman is unreliable, Brooks is injury prone, and everybody else is a Free Agent. Larsen, is a phenominal leader, with incredible instincts, and awesome tackling skills. He can get lost in space, but he can make the tackles.

Round 5 Cincinnati Bengals Select: Kellen Freeman-Davis TE/Michigan ST
-Big blocking and catching TE that runs correct patterns and can move in open space.

Round 6 Cincinnati Bengals Select: Kyle Robinson WR/Utah State
-This kid is the next Devin Hester. He has incredible agility, and speed. He can break a huge punt return or kick return for a TD with his blazing speed. He has had a stand out college career also as WR for Utah State. This kid is the next Devin Hester and he could be a Marques Colston type of player.

Round 7 Cincinnati Bengals Select: Kirk Elder OG/Texas AM
-Big strong OG that has proper hand techinue and has good foot work.

Round 7 Cincinnati Bengals Select (COMP):Geoff Schwartz T/Oregon
-This is a 6'7 335 pound freak of a Tackle. He is strong but not agile. He lacks proper hand work and feet work, but that can be tought here. His upside could be enormus.

There you have it. My first real mock draft. It will only get better come combines.

I love the first 2 picks, those are the guys I want. I agree that Jackson could drop to us after the combine because he supposedly runs a slow 40, but I don't put much weight on the 40 unless its a CB.

Hefney and Leman I think we could get a bit later, but I like them. Larsen I haven't seen play, but he sounds like a clone of Leman so Im not sure he's necessary.

I was going to put Kellen Davis in my mock, but then I read he'd been arrested and I had always wondered why they didn't play him more so he could certainly be a character problem. Not knocking the pick, but if you weren't aware of that there you go. I switched my pick to the TE from Purdue, Keller.

Good mock.

Really? Did not know that. I should look into it. Thanks for the heads up. Look for Brad Cottam as well. He is 6'7" and supposed runs a 4.5 40

I really like the first two picks but I wonder if Mayo might also be available when we pick in the second round and what you would think of taking him there? Mayo is one tremendous football player. Just a thought!

If Mayo and Jackson were there, I would go with Jackson. If there is no DE help there in the 2nd, then Mayo is right there as my back-up.

Bengal Dude, thanks for the update, but with his talent, I still would draft him.

Id go with Jackson too, just because if we want a DE, IMO we'll probably have to get one in the first 2 rounds because there's a big drop off after the first 6 or so guys. Whereas there are always good LBs in rounds 3 and 4. Basically when in doubt Dline is more valuable than LB.

That's why we were picking LB's off scrap heaps this year correct? Never underestimate the need for good LB's in this league. A good group of LB's will take an average defense and make it top 10:Clap:

I would feel more comfortable using our first 3rd pick for the LB assuming there is a huge difference between the two picks. If I remember, the LB stock is deep this year, but there would be a huge difference between a high and low 3rd round LB pick, and the fact that Ndukwe and White are developing into great players, I think that pushes our safety pick back behind our linebacker pick..
