In another post I saw it says the Cowboys are shopping Bobby Carpenter, and Marcus Spears for a possible 4th and 5th round draft selections. I would take that and also say we sign DT Corey Williams. I would say these are potentially realistic acquisitions. We re-sign OL. Stacy Andrews, LB. Landon Johnson, P. Kyle Larson, LB. Caleb Miller, DE. Jonathon Fanene, QB. Ryan Fitzpatrick, WR. Tab Perry, WR. Glenn Holt, LB. Rashad Jeanty, and S. Herna-Daze Jones, as well as letting go of DT John Thorton, CB. Deltha O'Neal and SS Dexter Jackson. It's also been estimated we will get 11-12 picks this year for various departed Free Agents.

1st) Keith Rivers OLB 6'2 236 USC 4.65
Playmaker for the Trojans. Chances are Gholston will be gone and we already addressed our Defensive Tackle concerns. (rated #1 overall OLB..)
2nd) Lawrence Jackson DE 6'4 265 USC 4.85
Another playmaker for USC's defense. He brings an all-around skill set to the Defensive End position. (rated #7 overall DE)
3rd) Quentin Groves DE/OLB 6'3 255 Auburn 4.60
This is a longshot. I don't think he will be available in the 3rd round, however he has a shoulder injury, which could hurt him if Chris Ellis, Darrell Robertson, and Wallace Gilberry have good combines/senior bowls. He could play LB on run situations and move to DE on passing downs. (rated #6 overall DE). If he isn't here look for a Corner or Guard
3rd comp) Trae Williams CB 5'10 185 South Florida
He has been on the move as of late, but is still not in the top 10 as far as corners are concerned. I know we have taken cornerbacks high lately but after JJ and Leon we have no one. (rated #11 overall CB..)
4th) Traded for Carpenter
5th) Traded for Spears
5th comp) TaShard Choice RB 5'10 210 Georgia Tech (rated #11 overall RB..)
I really like this guy. I think he is the best senior RB in the draft, although with all the juniors that really doesn't matter. This kid really knows how to use his speed well and I think he could make a great replacement if we have to let go of Rudi.
6th) Will Arnold OG 6'4 320 LSU (rated # 16 overall OG)
We need to improve our offensive line, and he manhandled some of the SECs best interior lineman.
6th comp) Kellen Davis TE 6'6 253 Michigan State
He is an underrated pass-catching TE that we have been calling for. (rated # 9 overall TE)
7th) Pierre Garcon WR 6'0 205 Mount Union
He is a division 3 monster, and I know first hand, I played against him. If he is able to put his 40 time below 4.55 he should get drafted. Can do some damage as a punt returner. (rated #44 overall WR)
7th comp) Jack Ikegwuonu CB 6'1 193 Wisconsin
Tore his ACL. Could be a monster, worth a late round gamble. (rated #7 overall CB; pre-injury).

I think that would leave us with a solid team and a depth chart like this:
QB:
Carson Palmer, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jeff Rowe
RB:
Rudi Johnson, Kenny Watson, DeDe Dorsey, TaShard Choice
FB:
Jeremi Johnson
TE:
Reggie Kelly, Kellen Davis, Daniel Coats, Brad St. Louis
WR:
Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chris Henry, Tab Perry, Glenn Holt, Pierre Garcon
OT:
Levi Jones, Willie Anderson, Andrew Whitworth,Dane Upresa
OG:
Stacy Andrews, Bobbie Williams, Scott Kooistra, Will Arnold
C:
Eric Ghiaciuc, Dan Santucci
DE:
Robert Geathers, Lawrence Jackson, Jonathon Fanene, Frostee Rucker
DT:
Corey Williams, Marcus Spears, DoMata Peko, Michael Myers
OLB:
Bobby Carpenter, Keith Rivers, Rashad Jeanty, Quentin Groves, Caleb Miller
MLB:
Landon Johnson, Ahmad Brooks
CB:
Jonathon Joseph, Leon Hall, Trae Williams, Blue Adams, David Jones
S:
Marvin White, Chinedum Ndukwe, Ethan Kilmer, Herna-Daze Jones
K:
Shayne Graham
P:
Kyle Larson

IR/PUP/N/a:
DE. David Pollack (neck)
RB. Kenny Irons (knee)
RB. Chris Perry (ankle)
MLB:Odell Thurman (suspension)
WR. Bennie Brazell (knee?)

On the 1st pick i rather get Sedrick Ellis, but if Ellis and Gholston are off the board then Rivers will be a excellent pick

I like this Mock except for getting rid of Deltha I really think you need a 3rd corner especially if you have to play the colts and pats (as they both have 3 excellent receivers). Unless we get something good for him, he really isn't a huge hit and we have enough money this off-season to affored to keep him.
I really think we should re-sign Dhani Jones, he was a great linebacker for us and he wasn't even here for pre season and the camps.
I think if we re-sign him and Sedrick Ellis and Gholston aren't there when we pick we can either trade down, affored to reach for a player or even just take the best available player...aka Rashard Mendenhall...
As you pointed out I don't think Groves will be there.

I love the trade though, especially if we get as many compensatory as they say we are going to get. Also love the Kellen Davis, highly underrated but needs to pick up his hustle.
Ikegwuonu is def. worth a gamble, I would even go 6th maybe 5th round gamble.

Did you guys see the Pollack article? Looks like there is a decent chance he comes back but playing DE. Seems he is going to be faster but not as strong, we need fast pass rusher. Let fanene and rucker stop the run on 1st down and Pollack rush the passer on 2nd and 3rd

From what I have read Deltha wants out. If he doesn't want to be here, let him walk. I would prefer to keep Madieu Williams as our Nickel but I think he will garner enough interest in Free Agency from teams lacking a FS that we won't pay a 3rd corner that kind of money. So realistically I think that we should keep Dexter Jackson and have him play those 20-30 plays as the 5th defensive back. As I said it is possible that Quentin Groves falls to us in the 3rd if his shoulder injury prevents him from doing some workouts at the combine.

Deltha does want out but it isn't because he hates it here or he is going to be a problem. He just thinks that he can get a starter somewhere else. If there is one person I hope we get rid of that is Dexter Jackson, he is horrible in coverage and shows his blitz way too early when they ask him to blitz. I know Marvin White played good those last two games but he didn't really play good the whole year (Like NDukwe) so I am not sold on him being our starter.
Madieu, Landon and Dhani are three key guys I think we should def. bring back.

He may not hate it here, but he's growing tired of it. He's just really getting tired of being a #3 CB and he didn't even do it the whole season. All I know is that Deltha will not be in stripes in 2008. Yes he does think he can still start and hopefully we can trade him for something. If anything we need to swallow our pride and take whatever we get offered for him. Teams know that we'd have to release him if he isn't traded so they're not going to be offereing us a 4th or 5th round pick. We're going to have to **** it up and take a 6th or 7th for him.

I love all the solid defenders we got in this mock draft!

I also hope we get Carpenter and Spears from Dallas!

I like the idea of a fresh start for Carpenter and Spears in stripes. I really think we need to make a serious effort to sign Williams from Green Bay, he is a man beast. Another possibility in the 2d round might be Mayo even though Carpenter is almost the same type of player. If we make a concerted effort if FA, I think our defense will drastically improve. Take the money from Smith, Thornton and Jackson and use it wisely.:hmm:

Pretty good, but I'd like to see more depth at S and sign a veteran CB

Only other problem I see is where's Kenny Iron's? Did you forget about him or cut him?

I have him listed on the PUP. I haven't heard how he has progressed from his injury or anything. I would love for him to be able to go in there right away and be effective. I also would like to see us re-sign Madieu Williams and have him get 20-25 reps as Free Safety and Nickel Corner, but I worry that he is going to garner too much interest in Free Agency and will be too expensive for us.
