Since everyone seems to be having so much trouble getting their sigs to work, here is a step by step process, with visual aid. While I don't use Internet Explorer, I'm sure a lot of people on here do, so I took screenshots from IE instead of Opera (browser I use). This should explain any questions people may have.

Step one: Find the picture you want to use as your sig, I'm going to just use my own for instructional purposes. Right click on the image and click on Properties from the drop menu.

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/6411/screen1ju0.jpg

Step two: A box will pop up after you click Properties that will give you the address of the image. Highlight the address and right click. Click Copy.

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/2923/screen2zk6.jpg

Step three: Next go into your UserCP and find "Edit Signature" at the top of the left menu and click it to enter the signature editor.

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/7011/screen3li5.jpg

Step four: Next find the image button in the signature editor box. Click this button to bring up a dialog box.

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/872/screen4zh1.jpg

Step five: Paste the address of the previously coppied image into the dialog box and click OK.

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/9431/screen5sx9.jpg

Lastly, scroll down and click "Save Signature" and there you have it! To test it out you can either post, or simply go back into the signature editor where you will see it displayed as you current signature.

Easy as pie! Hope this helps out those having trouble.

This machine has 2000. I'm supposed to be getting a better machine here soon (at work). I'm not really sure why they never updated this one to XP but it does what I want it to so no worries.

So you can't do an image upload? It has to be from a url?

WhoDeyGFX
03-19-2008, 11:13 AM
You can upload images directly, but the forum has certain file size restrictions. Most forums do that to conserve room on the server. So by hosting the image using a third party (imageshack, photobucket, etc.) and linking to it using the [img] tags, it's much less of a burden on the forum's server.

are you using the [img] tags?

hardrainincincy

um yes, if you mean there are [img] at the begining and the end of URL

WhoDeyGFX

the end tag has to have a "/" in it.

It should go [img] URL [/imgQ]

without the Q in it.

nah, looks good, if you think it's too big you can always resize to make it not as tall, but as far as width, it's fine

Host the image at www.imageshack.us first. Copy the image location from there. Go into the signature editor and put: [img]<image url>[/Qimg] the Q needs to be taken out and is in there so the tag will show up, so make sure not to put the Q in the last tag.

I have a question about the edit signature page. In your screenshots you show the steps to add/edit a signature and one of the shots showed your edit sig page. In that shot there is a text editor that allows you to change font color etc. I do not have that feature on my eidt sig page. Is that just for mods and administrators? Thanks

Go into your UserCP > Edit Options > Scroll down to the bottom where it says "Message Editor Interface. Change it from "Basic Editor" to "Standard Editor" and save it. You should be all set.

Nope, you need to save your sig to a site such as imageshack, photobucket, Myspace etc, then right click the sig go to properties then copy the URL and paste it to your sig like you would a image.

About a year ago, my siggy just disappeared from these boards. Don't know why. It just did. Well, I've found it in some old files. Don't know if it matters, but I use a Mac (Leopard OS).

I try to post the sig. Everything is there in the User CP. But, the sig still doesn't show up in my posts. Trying to figure out what's wrong.

Here's the attachment for my sig, if that helps.
