Hey guys,

I just wanted to throw out there right now, that I, as a member of the Virginia Tech Alumni, am EXTREMELY sorry that you are all going to have the whole "playing for a purpose" motif beaten over your head again and again and again this year by the game anouncers and analysts.

I know it would annoy me. [:D] Because we all know that game announcers just do NOT know when enough is enough. Like say, the inevitable "Does the BCS really work?" discussion that comes about week 8 every season.

anyway, just giving ya a heads up [;)]

I figured I'd here it a lot. Luckily I do not hear that much about VT, because they don't air them too much in Columbus. However, much with New Orleans last year, VT will be everyone's second favorite team this year.

I'm with Toronto. How can you not root for Va Tech? I was rooting for the Saints all last year, too.
Turk Shmurk. OH State is overrated! hehe, I can say that because I am a safe way away in FL...

oh no...now you've gone and done it.....your gonna set off Turk!!!!!!!!!! LOL...i'm a long way from him as well....i'm out of throwing distance thats for sure.
However, when I finally get my butt down to Cincy for a Bengal game I plan on tailgating with Turk so I plan on staying on his good side. Mind you i'm planning on bringing a case of fine Canadian Lager so that will probably keep me on his good side!!!!!!!!!!!
now if only i can arrange the Swedish bikini team to tailgate with us......

Overrated my arse. Florida stinks. I mean honestly, how hard is it to recruit to a sun state? Getting a person to come and play in the snow...in an OUTDOOR stadium, now that's a challenge.
Besides, that game would've been drastically different had Ginn been able to play the entire game. The kickoff was returned for a TD, and ensuing punts and kickoffs probably would have been too.
The Buckeyes don't rebuild...we reload...wait and see

Are you kidding me? "Florida stinks"? The University of Florida. They stink? I don't think it's worth even arguing that point.
Go Buckeyes, way to recruit. So proud of you to accept the challenge of getting the real athletes to come to your school. My guess is that weather helps, but it's not the deciding factor for most players. If it were, wouldn't Hawaii field a better team?
Ginn's injury wasn't what caused the Buckeyes to lose, but you keep believing what you want.
And just for the record, I wrote that the Buckeyes were overrated just after I had written Turk Shmurk and just before hehe. I thought that would be enough to know that I was writing in jest, my apologies for offending...

It is remarkable to me how suddenly EVERYONE is all over Florida about how unstoppable they are. When realistically if Ohio State CARED we probably would've won. It was obvious to anyone watching that game that the team was simply disinterested. As for talent...give me a break, you can not sit there and say that Ohio State is overrated and have me NOT argue the point. We lost ONE game ONE, we won 12 others, most pretty convincingly I might add.
As for why doesn't Hawaii field a better team, how about because the talent isn't BORN THERE? It is a widely known fact that two of the cradles of great collegiate prospects reside in California and Florida, coincidence? If you think so, then you're fooling yourself. Besides, few kids that are born in a warm state want to move to a cold one. Hawaii is a weak example anyway because they aren't a strong contender. People go to a major league program where they can get exposure, win a championship and get drafted. NONE of which happens in Hawaii. Colt Brennan threw for 58 TDs and 12 INTs and people barely knew who he was until ESPN starting slurping him.
Oh, and another point, the SEC is very relaxed on their admissions standards. If other conferences relaxed their standards I'm sure the SEC probably won't be "the greatest conference in college football" for long. By the way, I am so sick of hearing that crap I could barf.
Trash Ohio State if you like, but seriously, come stronger than the old Florida rules tripe.

Hitman, how many times must I say that I was joking? I don't believe that OH St is overrated. Do you understand now?
Realistically, you need to decide why your team didn't win. First you say it's all because of Ginn. Now it's because they just didn't care to win...I don't believe either is the case.
And yes, congrats to you for only losing one game. Shall I point out which teams you beat so convinciningly? Northern Illinois, Cincinatti, Bowling Green, Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern, need I go on? I'll give you Texas, Iowa, and Michigan. But I don't think you can argue strength of schedule...
The SEC is relaxed on their admission standards? But they still follow the NCAA regs, right? Please don't use the argument that Ohio State only accepts the intellectually gifted athletes.
You sound bitter. I don't recall bashing Ohio State. Again, my apologies for hurting your feelings.

If you want to truly apologize, then quit bringing up counterpoints for me to refute. You can't say you're apologizing in one sentence and then continue to bash them in the next, that just doesn't work.
I have decided why my team didn't win..........it's a combination of factors, like most losses are. I'm sure that if you ask people they will attribute the Bengals Superbowl losses on a variety of things, and not just one glaring reason. Having said that, it was obvious that after Ginn went down the team lost their spark, they became disinterested.
Right, there's no parity in college football is there? We beat some big schools but because they aren't in the SEC or had a tougher schedule, they aren't worthy of notice. Trust me when I tell you that the big ten isn't as much of a cake walk as the SEC advocates will have you believe. By the way, you forgot about Penn St....then again, I suppose they were easy too, right?
The SEC is following NCAA standards. However, you cannot deny that compared to other colleges (including Ohio State) they have more relaxed standards. I'm not saying it is right, or wrong, just saying it is something to consider.
Can't help but noticed you dropped the environment arguement.
Bitter? Maybe a little, I just can't stand it when someone harps on something when they lose. You can love sports all you want, but it makes me sick when people rub people's noses in it. I never once rubbed anyone's nose in the fact that Ohio State beat Miami, or Michigan. It was only when they began to bash my team, that I get irritated.
It's been a trying few months for Buckeye fans, but the point is the game was more than 7 months ago...at some point you Buckeye haters need to let it drop. If this is the only thing you have to talk about and cling to, then I guess that makes Ohio State that much more relevant in college football.

I am sincere in my apology about hurting your feelings. I didn't realize how sensitive you are. I wasn't bashing Ohio State, I was just debating your opinions.
Thank you for agreeing that it was a combination of factors for the loss. I agree with you that the Big Ten is a strong conference, but I don't believe they are the best conference. That doesn't mean that I am bashing you or your team.
Honestly, I don't keep up with admission standards for any school. Obviously, neither the Big Ten nor the SEC can compare with the Patriot League.
Yes, I dropped the environment argument. I will remind you that you were the one who said Ohio State is all that much better because of the challenge to recruit to an insane (in my opinion) climate. All I said was that if that weather were the case, HI would be continuously in the top ten of the polls.
I would be bitter too. Personally, I hate the Gators. They are the worst fans ever. Obnoxious as anything. Please note that I never rubbed the loss in your face, I just refuted your opinion "Florida stinks".

Fair enough, apology accepted.
I too apologize, I'm a very passionate fan, and when I feel like someone is trashing my team (in this instance for ONE game) it gets on my nerves.
No harm done.
