I really like this mock and i'm sure a lot of others on this message board will like it too. I dont know who this guy is but I am loving this mock. His reasoning is very sound. I didnt thoroughly analyze every one of his picks throughout all three rounds but just doing a short skim over I found he makes very good points and most of his picks are feasible. I hope it happens like this. It wont though because of FA and trades but I am hoping.

1st seddy E. Yes this is who I want most now.
2nd Merling Yes this is who I want at 9 if Seddy aint there so I'm loving this
3rd Martellus Bennett Hopefully he doesnt blow up at the combine and he is available here for us, If we are going to get a TE this early he better be giant (6' 7" qualifies), and be a well rounded player, and from what I have read he is no slouch as a blocker either.

Its thought out so well it almost sounds like WestTx could of wrote it. Let me know what you all think of this guys picks.

I would be very happy with the new mega additions to our D-line and all the TE crazy fans out there would get their big ole receiving threat TE who is actually a decent blocker. If we could get that with the 3 picks we already have in the first 3 rds we mite as well just move up and grab 1 or 2 more additional picks in the 3rd rd to go along with our comp pick and wrap this draft up early. I would trade the picks we have in rds 4-6 and maybe a 3rd next year to move up and get another 3rd (not sure if that is enough with the whole pick value chart, a little help West TX??). Then try to move Rudi, Jeremi, or maybe even Deltha (who I wouldnt mind giving a reasonable 2-3 year extension to, at maybe 2-3 million a year if he agrees to play the 3rd CB roll.) in order to get another third.

So we would get Bennett with a 3rd plus with the comp pick and acquisitions of 2 more picks in the 3rd through trade we could end up with:

1st-Seddy E. DT
2nd Phillip Merling DE
3rd Bennett TE
3rd Schmitt, Owen-monster child man beast legend FB
3rd versatile O-line ex. Mike McGlynn LS/C/G/T may all be possible, now that adds some good depth
3rd Trevor Laws/Okam/Bryant/Moore or maybe Shawn Crable or another LB depending on how FA plays out.
6th (Comp) Jake Ikegwuonu CB
7th (Comp) potential return specialist, maybe a good sleeper pick some speedy guy with good vision another Tab or Glenn Holt or better yet Holt and Tab come back healthy keep their jobs and make a big impact.

Thats it. Out of all the mocks i have seen, made, or commented on this would be my favorite. I think this is within reason and if the above scenario played out I think we would be on our way to the playoffs. Keep in mind I am an avid Justin Smith supporter and I want Fanene back as well. So the one DE drafted should be all that is necessary to fulfill depth needs at that position. Smith, Geathers, Fanene, Rucker, and Merling could get the freaking job done. Heck Geathers, Fanene, Rucker, and Merling could probably get the job done but I would rather hang on to the best of the bunch in Justin and have his veteran work ethic and leadership setting the example and leading the way for what would be a young D-line.

And I am all about Brooks, Thurman, Pollack, Landon, Dhani, Jeanty, Henderson, and maybe even Schlegel coming back as our LB squad (Pollack if it was 3-4). So I dont see the need to grab a bunch of LB's in the draft. If all those guys are healthy and learn to work together, which I think is likely with Zimmer and Fitz taking over, then we would have a bad a** LB squad.

One more thing I want to say is I dont think Keith Rivers will be the first true LB taken. (Or better yet I should say I dont want us taking him at 9 if the big 4 are gone). I am one of the very few that think that but I just think someone will jump him after the combine if he doesnt get his 40 time up. Not sure why I think that, the guy has great credentials. Would any USC fans care to elaborate for me, is he an OLB or MLB? Walterfootball.com and Scout.com have conflicting information?

One more questions. Does anybody have additional player rankings websites other than the ones listed above (and NFLdraftscout.com)? Pages that are actually up to date.

I got a bad gut feeling that Goodell, with his relentless hate for the Bengals entire organization, is going to kill all our hopes and dreams and not even give us that comp 3rd. Not sure who decides the comp picks but if he has any say I bet he is hating. He better give that to us.

I got calculus in 6 hours so I am done with the rant. Let me get some thoughts/opinions please.

Not bad....Merling wont last until the 2nd prolly. We can hope. Also, and this isnt a REAL big deal, but I prefer Martin Rucker at TE. But I think Bennett is a more complete guy.

That would be a very good draft for us. But when I actually looked at the guy's full mock, he lost his credibility. Matt Ryan WILL NOT be the #1 overall pick. He also leaves the following players out of his first 3 rounds, at least 2 of which I could see going in the second:
Martin Rucker
Chris Ellis
Frank Okam
Trevor Laws

No one will have a perfect mock that appeases every one. And if someone did actually have a mock that got 50%+ of the picks right (especially before FA and the combine) then they are probably the next Nostradamus and the Benglas need to higher him. I woulda never guessed Alex Smith going 1 overall in 05 and that was a relatively weak QB class. I like his reasoning that the Dolphins would rather have the top rated passer and a second tier D-linemen like Sims than get Dorsey and a second tier passer like Booty or Henne to lead their franchise in the future. I hope Trent Green retires, they dont acquire another veteran QB and Beck never impresses Parcells.

Martin Rucker is a good prospect but the draft is relatively deep at the TE position. Depending on how the combine goes I think there is about 6-7 TE's who have a chance to make themselves first day picks. I dont know if the demand will be high enough for 6-7 TE's to get taken before our pick/s in the 3rd. I just hope we end up getting the best one out of the group of Davis, Bennett, Carlson, Finley, Rucker, Tamme, and Cottam who all have a chance to move up if they impress the scouts at the combine.

Rivers could probably play both OLB or MLB, but with his quickness and coverage skills is probably best suited to weakside LB in a 4-3 where they've been using Jones and Johnson. I like your draft, but I doubt Merling will be there in the 2nd. I also think we'd need to use the first pick in the 3rd to get a player like Okam, Crable, Moore, or Laws. I'd much rather see them go with a CB in 3rd rather than a FB. I think Deltha's days are numbered in Cincy. There will be several excellent options available at the end of the third. This is a deep draft for CB's.

wow that would be awesome for us. They'd all have to slip a bit, but you never know what could happen, draft day always turns out crazy.

You have got to put Rucker in that list as well.....He is ranked as high as the 2nd best TE on some boards. Have you seen this guy play, what an amazing pass catching TE. But I agree with the others....I hope we get Rucker, but any of those guys will be solid!
