Round 1: Keith Rivers WLB - USC
I expect the quartet of Dorsey, Ellis, Gholston, and Long to be gone by the 9th pick. In my opinion, and as many people here have stated, Rivers is the only defensive player worthy of this pick. Unless we trade down (which I honestly would prefer to select Calais Campbell), Rivers is the guy.
Round 2: Lawrence Jackson DE - USC
Jackson will be the best available DE and someone I believe will be a solid addition to the team. He has shown flashes of greatness throughout his college career. Now he just needs to realize that he could be something special in the NFL.
Round 3a: Eddie Royal WR/KR/PR - VT
A kid who can contribute right away as a kick/punt returner and also as our #4 receiver. I envision Royal as what the Bengals thought they were getting when they signed Antonio Chatman.
Round 3b: Frank Okam DT - Texas
We need a big run stuffing defensive tackle and they don't get much bigger then Okam. I realize he is a high risk player because of his taking plays off in college, but when he did play he was very difficult to stop. If he realizes what he could do in this league, he could end up being the steal of the draft.
Round 4: Brad Cottam TE - Tennessee
It's rare to find a guy that's 6'8" and 270lbs who have the soft hands, quickness, and field awareness that Cottam possesses. If he were healthy his senior year he would be hearing his name called a lot earlier.
Round 5a: Marcus Griffin S - Texas
Posted solid numbers while being a leader of the Longhorns defense. I don't believe we are resigning Madieu so he will need to be replaced. Hey, we had some good luck with safeties last year, why no another one?
Round 5b: Chilo Rachal OG - USC
Yeah I know, another USC player. This kid can play. At 6'5" and 315, he is an animal on the line. If he is still available at this point, I don't see how we could pass him up.
Round 6: Tommy Blake DE/LB - TCU
A potential 1st rounder at the beginning of the season. Had some off the field issues that had him miss most of the season. Immense talent, just needs to prove he has the heart and desire he needs to succeed at the next level.
Round 7a: Jeremy Geathers DE - UNLV
One Geathers has worked out pretty well for us...why not another?
Round 7b: Juston Forsett RB - Cal
Having an excellent season until his injury. Could end up being a solid pick and worth taking a chance on.

I see one glaring problem. 3 DE and only 1 DT. This draft would be fine, but you had better hope you get a DT in FA. We don't need to draft 3 DE.

Round 7b: Juston Forsett RB - Cal
Having an excellent season until his injury. Could end up being a solid pick and worth taking a chance on.
1) There is much better value at LB in the 3rd round than in the first. Rivers is a reach at 9.
2) If we were going to take a TE, it would have been last year. They won't take on this year. Mark that down.
3) If Andrews is not resigned, OL may be the pick in the first round.
4) We need to revamp our D-line, and while you have us taking a lot of D-Lineman, they are all for depth. We have the depth in place, now we need talent. If Jackson is there in the 2nd, I do like that pick, but we need to draft O-Line, WR, RB help in the late rounds, not DE or DT.
5) A skeleton draft should be:
1 -- DT- I believe some offense moves up from combine results and we get a top tier DT or DE @ #9.
2 -- DE -- Of course if we take DE in 1st, take DT in 2nd. Trade up if we have to, but our first 2 picks must be immediate starters.
3a --LB -- We need LB to push our current talent. Could be starters if they beat out incumbents, but draft here should be for depth and ST.
3b --LB -- See above
4, 5, 6, 7a, 7b, 7c
WR/KR, OG, C, CB, LB, FS
Picks must be for depth. If one is available, I would like to use a 4th rounder on a dynamic return man.
C most likely not to make the 53-man. I believe Eric will improve dramatically with a healthy pre-season.
LB must be a dynamic ST player to make the 53-man with many LBs coming back from injury.
OG must be able to play different positions.

I like Jackson, Royal and Griffin, the others not so much, especially Rivers I think he's solid, but nothing that you don't see every year. People get carried away because he's "the prototype", but in the top 10 you want a really exceptional talent.

This is a great draft. Only exception is the Rachal pick, his stock is through the roof and he should be no worse than a 2nd rounder. Favorite pick is Tommy Blake, before August this guy looked like a 1st rounder. But with all the problems he's gone through he could be had late; if he regains form though, he is a future starter at SLB.

RIvers is a guy that could shoot up after his workouts. If he lays down a freakish time in the 40 paired with his college production, he is worthy of the 9 pick. I know speed isn't everything, but this time last year Patrick Willis was considered a late 1st to mid 2nd guy.
