Whether they're goofy, serious, ridiculous, fun,.. whatever... What kind of twist would you throw into the NFL?
Mine would be this...
Kickers have to change teams EACH YEAR. One year, then up and shuffle,..
Just for the hell of it... they don't come out too often, but when they do they can make a huge difference good or bad.
I say kickers should be the freelance workers of the NFLPA,.. punters too for that matter. [H]

Instead of letting a coin flip decide who gets the ball do it like the XFL did, put ball on 50 and let 2 guys race and fight for it.
should require atleast 1 woman on each team
(Real women, with vaginas. I'm not referring to Hines Ward)
Whatever

I would say full 15 minute overtimes, not this whoever scores first garbage. Let both teams have an equal chance to win in OT instead of slanting it heavily in the favor of the team that wins the coin toss. I'd also be in favor of a rule for OT that gave the ball to the team that had possession when regulation expires where they had it when regulation expires.

I like your idea about no sudden death, but not the second part. That would eliminate separation from the teams with good 2-minute offenses (i.e. colts) and teams with not-so-good 2-minute offenses (ravens, bears, etc.). Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning-- a key element in these QB's skill sets is that they can lead their team into a favorable scoring postion when the time on the clock is two minutes or less. I think your rule might take away from that.

I'd say that cheerleaders have to travel to away games with their teams.....and during the game each time a team scores the opposing cheerleaders have to remove an article of clothing.
that would be my rule change [H]

I'm not sure what's worse,.. the fact that some no-talent Browns fan photoshopped that and was proud of his work,.. or that had to get his sister to pose for the pic first.

1. Calls such as roughing the passer can be reviewed.
2. Teams can no longer "franchise tag" a player.
3. Salary cap hits for resigning your own players are less.
4. Slotted salary system for draft picks.
5. Ed Hochuli must ref every SB.

Refs must be more descriptive with the explanation of flags.
If you flag a player for excessive celebration, the ref would say: 15 yards on CJ, he was gettin' jiggy with it".
Or...if for a roughing the passer..."He was in his busniness"....late hit out of bounds, "Dude took a cheap shot"....off sides would be referred to as, "Snap happy".

One of the reasons why I love Ed Hochuli. Dude, will even give you where in the rulebook his rulings can be found.
New Rule: the ball is live during a punt and must be recovered by a player.
New Rule: if an XP is blocked and the ball is returned by the opposing team to their own end zone, they are awarded 1 point.

New Rule: if an XP is blocked and the ball is returned by the opposing team to their own end zone, they are awarded 1 point.
Here's something related to that which would be quite different: if the defense recovers a live ball on a conversion attempt - i.e. blocked kick, interception or fumble - that team can choose to start their next drive at the spot the ball was advanced to or receive the standard kickoff. If the ball is returned all the way to the end zone, a touchdown is awarded.
For example, if the defense recovers a blocked kick or fumble at their own 10 and cannot advance it, they're going to want to receive a kickoff, which would be no different from today's rules. However, if they advance that all the way to midfield, the offense takes the field at the 50 with no kickoff. Furthermore, if the ball is returned all the way to the end zone, they don't get a puny 1 or 2 points. They get richly rewarded for a spectacular play with a touchdown.
It might make extra points a little more entertaining if it gets the defenses to put a little more effort into defending them. As far as two-point conversions go, it might make the offenses a little more conservative knowing there's more at risk when they put the ball in the air, but it may also make defenders take a few more chances now as well.

The good old "holding" call needs to be revamped or abolished. Holding can be called on someone on any given play. Yet, it seems that it is called much to often when it seriously changes a game. Changing 3rd and 3 to 3rd and 13 can be a back breaker. Especially when the penalty is called for something that you've seen the opposition do multiple times throughout the game with no call. Too much room for interpretation/allowance on this one. Call 'em all and you wouldn't be able to play a game!

Holding can be called on any given becuase it happens on any given play.
Maybe there should be "intentional" holding, like you got beat and drag the guy down to protect your QB, that would be 10 yards, and then "unintentional" holding where your hands go the outside
while while blocking and only for a short period of time. They could be 10 yards and 5 yards respectively, kind of like the two different types of face mask penalty.
Did you know that when Boomer played here the lineman would get fined by the team for every holding call, but Boomer told them all he'd pay it for keeping him from getting killed.
