I am basing my picks off of what I think they will do at the combine, so this could be null and void by the end of next week!

1. Calais Campbell DE Miami
-I realize that most see this guy as having high bust potential, but all I see is a guy that is going to turn into an all-pro. If he can lay down a time in the 4.7 range and have a monster workout then I think he could move into the top 10 discussion. Can move inside on obvious passing downs and allow extra pass rushers to get on the field.

2. Quentin Groves LB/DE Auburn
-Fastest DE to come out since Manny Lawson two years ago. Groves was a sure fire 1st rounder until injuries hampered him in 07; could still sneak his way into 1. Flies around the field, and has a killer first step when healthy. Great chance of making the change to SLB and starting sometime during his rookie season. Could do for us what Pollack would have without the injury.

3. Red Bryant DT Texas A&M
-Bryant is a beast and he had a good senior bowl so this is a solid pick. I think he could eventually be our version of Kris Jenkins, minus the injuries and the laziness. More than likely won't make it past the 2nd and if Groves is gone when we pick at 47, I would be more than happy with Bryant.

3. Lavelle Hawkins WR Cal
-Another guy that really improved his stock at the senior bowl. If he runs fast enough then he is a lock for the first day. Catches the ball well and looks smooth running routes. Good insurance policy for CJ and TJ. Reminds me a lot of the USC Steve Smith that the Giants took last year.

4. Justin King CB Penn State
-This guy should have stayed in school, because he has the athleticism to be a top tier corner, but hasn't proven enough. Good 4th guy this year that can take over for Deltha next year.

5. Kellen Davis TE Michigan St.
-I really think Davis could develop into a great threat at TE. Being 6'6" won't hurt his productivity in the red zone either. May have to grab him in the 4th though.

5. King Dunlap OT Auburn
-Absolute monster at 6'9" 315 who could add quite a bit of bulk. Not overly consistent, was actually replaced this past year midway through the season; but with the right coaching I think he could be molded into a pretty good OT. As well as we did with our last project (Andrews) I think Dunlap is worth taking a chance on.

6. Angelo Craig LB Cincinnati
-Not trying to be a homer with this pick, but the guy is big 6'5" 240 and runs well 4.6 range. Could add bulk and be a pretty good pass rusher. Watched him play a lot and he can dominate at times.

7. Mario Urrutia WR Louisville
-6'6" WR that could be a monster red zone threat. Speed is not very good, but inside the ten speed isn't everything. Another guy that should have stayed in school, but could work out well in the 6th, and be our 5th or 6th WR.

7. Jason Shirley DT Fresno St.
-Another big body DT 6'5" 340 with pretty good athleticism, reportedly runs a 5.08 forty. An obvious project because he never dominated but would have a legit shot at earning a roster spot or a least a spot on the PS.

Neither Groves nor Bryant will last anywhere near that long.

This time last year Alan Branch was a guaranteed top 5 pick and Poz was expected to be top 20, they went 33 and 34, oh and we had no shot at getting Leon Hall at 18. All guess work but especially before the combine, hence the thread title...but like I said Red Bryant is worth a 2nd round selection; call this one wishful thinking.

Groves is actually projected in the 2nd round so I think we have a good shot at him. I really like the draft.

I like it. Git R Done. I was thinking King Dunlap would be a good pick up. The guy is a monster and is worth a late rd pick for sure. Paul Alexander (I think thats our O-line coach) is great and can make guys better. A couple years with him and Dunlap could be a top tackle. I hope to add at least two starting caliber DT's though. So hopefully we could get one in FA.

I think with Campbell, Groves, and Craig our pass rush would be much improved, those three guys know how to get after the QB.

I agree it's hard to say they will be there when we pick, but overall i like this draft accept for the CB move.

I don't know I think we need to nab a CB that will take over the nickel in 09 and King could have moved way up had he stayed, although he could still go first day

I really will be upset if we daft Mario Urutia. He is the most frustrating player I have ever seen. His hands are HORRIBLE and he doesnt seem very bright.

I love the Angelo Craig pick. He is a late round steal in this draft. Former wideout with a big frame. I think he could probably play outside backer and would be a great fit in a 3-4 but I think, with coaching, has the ability to play in space as a 4-3 backer.

I agree, I think he ight even be worth nabbing in the 5th.

Pretty good draft. I like the King, Bryant and Groves picks. King would be perfect to draft because we have Deltha for another year, so we wouldn't need King to step up unless we have a string of injuries in the secondary (Knock on wood).

Although there are some "red flags" character wise for King, so who knows if Marvin will take a chance on him...

Charges were completely dropped against King in the fight that you are referring to, I do not see an incident as small as a fight at a college party that the police decided he was not a part of (or at least not a big enough part for there to be any evidence) is a deal breaker.

It doesn't really look like we're going to have Deltha for the 2008 season. Hall and Joseph are our starters and he's said that he doesn't want to be a #3 CB. My guess is we'll trade him for whatever we can get or let him go before camp. He's stated that he wants to be a starter in this league.

I don't either (I would love to add King to our secondary), I'm just not sure how Marvin will perceive it. Charges being dropped against a football player in a football school is a whole other conversation...

Deltha is under contract for 08 so unless we can get something for him, he will be playing for us. They are not going to just let the guy go and at his age sitting a season out would be career suicide.

If he's here then he'll play an insignificant role. Deltha has stated that he doesn't want to be a #3 CB and thinks he can be a starter. I truly believe that he'll be cut/traded at some point. He's got an extremely poor attitude and possibly injured more than any of us fans know. After the season, he came out and said that his knee buckled from underneath him and that's why he missed Lynch in Buffalo.

I like just about everything about this mock. It might be a little too much to ask, but I'd be happy with it
