1. Derrick Harvey, DE UF - this pick assumes the big 4 are gone on DL, harvey is a good intersection of need and value at this pick. Harvey, despite already being considered an elite player, has his best football is ahead of him as a 2 year HS player and a redshirt junior.
2. Sam Baker, OT USC - Consistent, strong tackle with good burst and room to grow in an nfl system. DT would be nice at this pick, but no value is here in the second round. Line depth needs to, and will be, adressed early.
3a. Martin Rucker, TE Missouri - This guy is a very big WR and played alot wide last year. sometimes he misses on blocks, but he has room to be groomed into the tight end we have expressed we wanted. He would be a great value in the third, and may go late in the second depending on when the run on tight ends starts. Has NFL pedigree.
3b. Frank Okam, DT Texas - After the shrine game some might call this a reach, but Okam has so much physical potential that this would be a steal. When he plays hard he reminds me of Haynesworth. Would be an Upgrade in our rotation immediately.
4. Beau Bell, LB UNLV - Once considered a mid 2nd rounder, May not be able to attend combine due to knee injury at the senior bowl. Mountain West D POY, great ability, size and athleticism and worth the risk on the second day.
5a. Jordy Nelson, WR Kansas State - Prototypical size and good athletic ability. Played 2 years at corner and would contribute greatly on teams. Could develop into a good slot threat.
5b.Jacob Hester, FB/HB LSU - Pure heart player. would immediately contribute on teams. Great addition to any lockeroom. No real measurables that make him stand out, but constantly produces. Would be a great weapon at the Hback/Fb role.
6. Chad Rinehart, OL Norther Iowa - Has the ability to play all 5 line spots and the frame to grow in a pro strength program. Good value in the 6th.
7a. Curtis Johnson, OLB/DE Clark Atlanta - man amongst boys playing at a small school, All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association D POY, will get some scouts looking his way and appears to have what it takes to play with the big boys.
7b. Ahtyba Rubin, DT Iowa State - A physical specimin at DT, but needs alot of work as he made the transition from OL to DL in college. Takes double teams well, but needs to play with more aggression. A steal in the late rounds.
