Trade Down into the 15-20 range. I am assuming we get a 3rd round pick although we might be able to get a second rounder.

Kentwan Balmer, North Carolina
Height: 6-4. Weight: 308.
No one expected Kentwan Balmer to run a 4.7 or anything, but he should have done better than a 5.28. Still, his bench numbers showed what he's best at - mauling opposing offensive linemen.
Kentwan Balmer has emerged as one of the top tacklers in college football. Perfect for either the 3-4 or 4-3.

Trevor Laws, Notre Dame
Height: 6-0. Weight: 304.
I thought Trevor Laws had a decent combine, cementing his status as a second-round prospect. If it weren't for Sedrick Ellis, Laws might have shined as the most impressive defensive lineman at the Senior Bowl.

Shawn Crable, Michigan
Height: 6-4. Weight: 245.
I thought that in a disappointing day for linebackers, Shawn Crable looked and ran pretty solid. Putting up 29 reps of 225 didn't hurt him either.
Has a habit of getting to the opposing signal caller. Crable should be able to play in the 4-3 or 3-4

Dustin Keller, Purdue
Height: 6-2. Weight: 242.
Dustin Keller nearly touched the roof of the RCA Dome, notching a 38-inch vertical, and then blew everyone away with a 4.54 in the 40, nearly matching Greg Olsen's time of 4.51 in 2007. Keller then looked very fluid in the drills and even leaped a 10'11" broad jump.

Jason Jones, Eastern Michigan
Height: 6-5. Weight: 273.
Jason Jones' 40 could have been better, but his broad jump was 10'3". Still a mid-round prospect. A candidate for the 3-4

This draft helps the move to a 3-4 with Balmer in the middle Laws as a DE and Crable and Jones outside backers.

Comments are welcome and incouraged.

What I would do would be to trade the 3rd we got for the 9th and our 2nd and move up in the second to nab Quintin Groves or Johnathan Goff if they are still availible,(Goff is going to be a beast in a 3-4). Then in the third I would take Martin Rucker as might TE cause idk if Keller now will last that long that you have him at.

But we all know that the Bengals won't do any trading of draft picks as I guess they believe it somehow breaks one of the Ten Commandments.

But I like it

I'm not sure about drafting Balmer and Laws (Or switching Laws to DE). Why not draft Quinton Groves in the 1st and Laws in the second?

That is what I am really starting to like. Groves in the first and Laws in the second. I would be a very happy person if our draft started off like that.

I've never been a big fan of Balmer, I dont know squat about him, I like just about all the top DT prospects except for him.

Dustin Keller had a great combine but he is said to have jeremy stevens-type hands, in other words he'll drop the ball once hit or if he hears footsteps. In a scout report it said Keller wouldnt jump to get a high ball, that he struggled to play well through traffic and couldnt block to save his life due to a lack of tech. and natural ability.

He has all the physical skills to be a great reciever, and his hands could be improved, but i dont think he'd be worth the draft pick we'd need to spend on him.

I'd be happy w/ Groves/Laws as our first 2 picks=)

Would be happier with Gholston/Sims or Red bryant tho=p

Oh yea. For sure. A Gholston Sims draft would be fantastic. We could pick punters with the rest of our picks and I think I would still be happy with our draft. Not really but maybe. Probably what some teams ahead of us our hoping for too.

Okay so I am changing it up.

Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois
Height: 5-10. Weight: 225.
Combine 40: 4.37.
Projected Round: Top 15 Pick.
If it wasn't for Darren McFadden's 40 time, everyone would be talking about Rashard Mendenhall's. A 4.37 from a 225-pound running back? That's sick. His bench and vertical numbers weren't bad either. You know what they say when you've got numerous you've really got none. Normally I say no RB but Mendenhall is the whole package, he can run and catch the pass just check his college stats. Okay let's say Rudi comes back healthy don't you prolong his career letting him share carries with Rashard and if he doesn't you still have a stud to take his place. Do you think Jacksonville is unhappy they picked up Jones-Drew even though they had Fred Taylor or minnesota getting peterson even though they had taylor.

Ellis did play DE in college so he could play either in the pros.

Jason Jones, Eastern Michigan
Height: 6-5. Weight: 273.
Jason Jones' 40 could have been better, but his broad jump was 10'3". Still a mid-round prospect. A candidate for the 3-4

Compensatory third round pick: Best TE available
Next Six: BPA

The only free agent we need then is a DE, maybe a true NT
Starters:
DE: Fanene, Rucker
NT: Peko
DE: Laws
LB: Rashad Jeanty, Jason Jones
LB: Ahmad Brooks
LB: Odell Thurman, Dhani Jones
LB: Robert Geathers

Laws was a 3-4 DE at Notre Dame last year. He's only projected as a DT due to his size.
