After the combine results, It looks more likely that Ellis will fall to #9. However, I feel we should trade down if possible anyway because Ellis is a little undersized to be a NT in a 3-4. All indications are that this will be the primary formation for the Bengals. I say we trade our #1 to Miami for both their #2 picks and Their #3, giving us 3 picks in the 2nd and 3 picks in the 3rd and this is how I draft:

Rd 2 Quentin Groves DE/LB
Rd 2 Lawrence Jackson DE
Rd 2 Ahtyba Rubin NT
Rd 3 Trevor Laws DT/DE
Rd 3 Brad Cottam TE
Rd 3 Matt Forte RB
Rd 4 Justin King CB/PR
Rd 5 Mike McGlynn OL
Rd 5 Sammie Stroughter WR/KR
Rds 6 and 7 Best players available with either high risk/reward due to injury or inconsistency or great athletic talent who need development (ala Stacy Andrews).
Suggestions:
Ropati Pitoitua DT
Tommy Blake DE
Jeremy Thompson DE
Zack Bowman CB
Will Arnold G

The first 4 picks give us versatility and depth for whatever formation we run. Cottam fills the need for TE and at 6'7" will be an asset in the Red Zone. Forte is a potential bell cow if Rudi doesn't return to form and will hurt the Steelers as many mocks predict him going to Pittsburgh in the 3rd. King will ad a boost to the return game and can potentially be our nickel back of the future. McGlynn will slide after a sub-par combine and be a productive backup in a number of positions. Stroughter is another Oregon State reciever who is an explosive KR in case Perry or Holt struggle or get injured. He is also a small quick receiver who can play the slot, which TJ no longer wants to do.

Good scenario, I just don't know how we'll be able to pull it off. Parcells is a guy that likes to acquire additional draft picks not trade them away. So I'm not sure we can talk multiple picks out of him.

Also Laws is having a stellar combine and had a great senior bowl, I don't see him dropping to the 3rd round...

I think the Dolphins will plug a lot of holes with free agents and need a couple of right now impact players which two top ten picks would give them to turn things around starting next season. The Dolphins historically don't like to go into any season with the idea of "rebuilding".

But Parcells is the one running the show now. Which is why players like Zach Thomas are no longer there.

He understands it's not an overnight process and will draft very smart. If anything Parcells will try to trade the #1 overall pick for additional draft picks (Maybe to Jerry Jones for both of their #1's and Marion Barber)...

1. After his combine showing, Groves will not last that long.
2. I don't like trading out of the first round.
3. Trevor Laws has worked himself into the second round.

After re-evaluating the trade possibility and the draft status of several players. I think it would be more likely to trade our first and fifth with Philadelphia for the 19th pick and their #2 pick at 49. Philly desperately needs a left tackle. If Clady is available at nine, they may trade up to get him. We could then select like this:

#19 Quentin Groves
#46 Lawrence Jackson
#49 Ahtyba Rubin
#77 Matt Forte
#96 Brad Cottam
#108 Justin King
#137 Mike McGlynn
#158 Sammie Stroughter

More realistic? Feedback is welcome.

A lot more realistic. Also it's a pretty good draft. The only negative I can say is that it's looking like we might switch to the 3-4. Groves, Jackson and Geathers all are better fits for OLB than DE in a 3-4. So we might need to draft some bigger DE/DT to play end in the 3-4 system.

If we stick with the 4-3, this is a solid draft...

At 6'5" 268, I think Jackson has the frame and strength (31reps) for an end in a 3-4 if he puts on a little more weight. Who knows though. Merling Could drop into our laps in the 2nd after a less than impressive combine.

Definitely a possibility. I just don't want what happened to Harvey to happen to Jackson if he bulks up.

Overall though good mock draft...
