Two first round picks for the 9th overall? Why would Dallas do that?

According to value they would be about equal and it depends on how desperate they are. But it might take our 9th and maybe a 3rd or 4th as well to equal out the total number of picks.

And it's Dallas. If Jerry Jones sees a player he desperately wants sitting there he's bold enough to pull the trigger. Such as McFadden or Mendenhall.

It's just my opinion and I think feasible for the right situation.

Dallas is a team that is a player or two away from winning a super bowl. It actually makes sense if there is a player they would like to grab in the top 10; especially if McFadden slips out of the top 6 (which if he does he should be available at 9 b/c I can't see the Pats or the Ravens taking him). That said, the Cowboys have the 22nd and 28th pick. Also if we grabbed Groves, then the Crable pick would not be needed and we could get a TE or RB earlier; I don't think Johnson will be there at the bottom of the 3rd, someone will jump on him in 2 (a la Tennessee taking Chris Henry in the 07 draft). So I would switch the rounds 2-4. Take TE or best RB in 2, opposite of 2 with 3a and the best WR with 3b; then spend the rest of the draft focusing on securing backup defenders for the 3-4. Love the Moore pick though, I really think he will jump into the late 1st round.

If McFadden drops then definitely, but otherwise I don't see Dallas doing it.

As for your mock if that trade did happen, it's about a good a mock as I have seen. Groves, Moore, Tamme, Chris Johnson, Crable and Pollack fill almost every hole we have...

I was thinking along those lines as well. For the mock to work, Devin Thomas might have to get dropped and Johnson and Tamme move up. Johnson to 2, Crable stays puts and Tamme to 3b.

As for Crable another choice might be to get a DT/DE that can play end in a 3-4 instead of Crable. But I am a Crable fan and would like to see us add him especially if we don't resign Landon and/or Jeanty...

I think Crable will be good, but you are right, if we switch to a 3-4 we will have to focus on finding a lot of pieces and will not have the luxury of taking 2 first day OLBs. Instead of Crable a guy like Frank Okam or even Red Bryant. The only know on Bryant is strength, which is very easy to fix (if he will work hard enough) and both have the size to back up at NT. Moore would start at end in the 3-4. I also think resigning Jeanty is a must if Landon walks and we go to the 3-4.

I don't know if Chris Johnson will last that long. Might have to grab him in the second.

Don't like the Crable pick either. I would exchange that with Johnathan Goff.

I think we can do better than Tamme if we grab someone in the third. Plus with Chad and TJ, picking a WR in the second is a bit of a waste.

I've said this in multiple threads but I'll say it here too. As long as Carson is your franchise you HAVE to keep him in weapons. TJ hs one season left and may not be extended, both he and CJ will be over 30, Henry is a constant wild card - picking up a WR here is smart and most likely needed.

Thanks for your opinions though.

Definitely agree with this theory.

This is why the Colts signed Dallas Clark to a long term deal and drafted Anthony Gonzalez in the 1st round last season. A franchise QB needs players to throw to in order to be successful...

If you switch Johnson to Matt Forte I would extremely happy with the first four rounds. The others I can't comment on, but the first four rounds would leave me excited about next year.

I like the draft, but would much rather see Laws in 2 and Forte in 3a. We already have a lot of quick backs Dorsey, Watson, Irons. We need a pounder. Also, I'm assuming you're projecting a 3-4 defense. If we get Groves in the first we wouldn't need Crable as he's a 3-4 OLB and we already would have Geathers on one side. Unfortunately, I see Atlanta taking McFadden or making the very same trade with Dallas before we get the chance. It would be nice though.
