When should the Reds fire Jerry Narron?
1. Now
2. At the All-Star break
3. At the end of the season
4. He'll resign
5. He'll be back in 2008
The whole team is FREAKING pathetic. I think he'll resign eventually.

I vote never, but he used to date my aunt (a looong time ago) and he was always cool, so I'm pretty biased.

2 Weeks ago I would have said, Never (for this season at least)
But I say Now, this is pathetic, 14-10 game against PITTSBURGH!?
I say fire everyone, the Manager, Pitching Coach, Bullpen coach, Hitting Coach and the ball boys!

I don't think the ball boys have anything to do with the way the team plays.

Who cares?!? FIRE HIM BY THE END OF THE ALL STAR BREAK!!! I say we do the following....
Trade away Hatteberg, Conine, Majewski, Lohse, Stanton, and Milton. Trade them all for multiple prospects. Some guys I would like to see are...
Tim Lincecum
Brian Mazone
Kevin Slowley
Matt Childers
Scott Baker
Yovani Gallardo
Adam Bass
Colby Lewis
Jesse Litsch
Tim McNab
Clay Buchholz
Brian Duensing
Nick Blackburn
Dan Smith
Greg Reynolds
Micheal Madsen
Micheal Bowden
Brok Butcher
Brandon Hynick
Wade Leblanc
Matthew Buschmann
Rowdy Hardy
David Huff
Julio Cesar Pimentel
John Lannan
Riche Gardener
Daniel McCutchen
Carlos Fisher
Logan Ondrusek
Kyle Waldrop
Adam Daniels
Douglas Brandt
Christopher Cody
PJ Walters
Henry Sosa
Heath Rollins
Kevin Pucetas
Zack Braddock
Adam Cowart
Deunte Heath
Sorry for the long list, but these are the guys who have pretty good stats and I think could do better than about any pitcher on our team. As for trading Griffey or Dunn, I like both, and since they actually are doing well, why trade them? If Griffey gets healthy, even though he is on a big contract(Its not as big as you think, only about 10 mil a year), he still won't get us fair value at his age.

Don't get rid of Majewski, he's young and talented.
Plus, add Gonzalez, Weathers, Santos, Saarloos and all three catchers to that list. The only players that are safe, IMO, are Philips, Encarnacion (for now), Arroyo, Harang, Hamilton, Salmon, Burton and Freel.

Why didn't you just make a poll?
He won't resign because he doesn't have any better job offers out there, heck people knew he stunk when we got him a few years ago.
He will end up getting fired, probably in a few weeks once we are 30 games under .500 or so. Management will make some speech about how we are going in a "different direction", we will trade off big name... and people will complain even though they were calling for these trades for years. Everyone will moan about there being no players left to watch at the ballpark and how it is borign to have a team of no names.
The next couple months are going to be rough unless this team tuens it around within the next week and rolls off about 15 wins out of 20 games.

Why would you get rid of Majewski? He IS young talent.... so you would trade proven young talent for a couple unproven players of lesser talent? Smart move.
Also, it is quite obvious you just took a list of young talented players and pasted them here.... I would be surprised if you knew who 5 of these players were, what their stats were or even what possition they played.

you can add anyone on the team to the list besides harang and arroyo, but they wont get traded. I like having hatteberg around, but with the tear that votto has been on in louisville i think they need to find some way to move hatteberg and give Votto his chance, he has earned it.
I dont think Ross will or can be moved, say what you want but he is getting back into form, he is hitting .265 over the last month and has 4 homers and 11 RBIs in the last month. Ross is a great defensive catcher, he just needs to cut back on the strikeouts. If you think our defense is bad now, watch and see what happens if we trade ross and start valentin, it will be ugly.
I dont really see why freel shouldnt be on the trading block, freel hasnt produced at all this year. Say what you want about his hustle, but he is just too aggressive. He is hitting .250 and hasnt stolen a base in almost 3 weeks. Freel's lack of hitting lately is one of the reasons we havent been winning (even though the pitching by far the biggest problem). Freel isnt that good, he hasnt hit over .280 in a season and has never had an obp of .380. He is third on the team in errors, and considering the two in front of him on the team are top 10 in errors in the NL, i would say that is a pretty big deal.
The only reason freel would be untouchable is the fact that he is such a fan favorite, and considering how we shipped off guys like Casey, LaRue, and (even though he wasnt here long) Joe Randa, its not like it is out of the question.
There is a such thing as playing too hard, and freel does it, he doesnt think at all and just tries to do too much. I think freel needs to go back to the utility role, his play isnt starting a fire like it should- and without the ability to do that he is a below average ball player.
I really would love a complete shakeup- I want to see Votto, Janish, Chris Dickerson, Bailey, Livingston, Dumatrait, Marcus McBeth, and anyone else who plays strong over the next month called up by the all star break if we fall back another 3 games or so.
The only players i dont want to see traded are Arroyo, Harang, Hamilton, Ross, Griffey, Phillips and Edwin, everyone else is fair game. Let the fire sale begin!

Thats like us trading Peanut Butter Bailey Time.
Other than that your list is fine.

at the all-star break
You don't get good managers during the season. All you get are garbage interim managers. Jerry Narron was a mid-season addition to the reds. Joe Girardi is the most logical replacement for Jerry Narron, problem is I don't think he will want to manage a team halfway through the season. Plus Joe was pretty set on taking 07' as his off year. Joe reminds me of a young Pinella, he is a manager who can cuss the paint off the walls, but also knows how to manage his team.
So assuming we can't get Girardi who are we going to replace him with at the all-star break. Whoever we could get halfway through the season will surely set us back another few years, because they will be garbage. If you think Bucky Dent or Tom H. are going to be good replacements then by all means fire Narron right now. I on the other hand am less than optomistic about Narron's replacement.

I wish they would boot him out the door right now, but they won't. I think they will hold on to him until the end of the year. He micromanages the pitchers but doesn't do squat for the hitting and running. He should not have let Majewski pitch to Sizemore the other night with a guy on second and first open. Little things he just doesn't even pay attention to!! Makes me crazy!![:@]

I don't know exactly how you expect Freel to steel any bases in the last 3 weeks, when he has been on the DL for the last 2. I have seen him do some pretty incredible things, but the most amazing player can not steel a base while he is not even playing!! [:D]

Check the time stamp on his post, he made it over 2 weeks ago, before Freel ever went on the DL.
And I for one agree with everything Pollack said.

Ooops, I guess I didn't have my eyes open all the way at 5am to notice the time stamp. Regardless, Freel is a fan favorite and plays harder than any other guy out there. It is wonderful to see a guy RUN out a fly ball...there are times when the outfield misses it and he ends up safe...unlike other players that stand at the plate and watch the ball. His stats are pretty much average for the team. We do not have anyone on the team that is currently batting over 300! How sad is that? I think all the coaches should be fired at the end of the season. We can get Lou back after he leaves/is fired from the Cubbies!
