I was just wondering why some practice squad people have more points than varsity, how are points awarded and how are the ranks given?

they are calculated on a points system
each post is worth 12 points
each reply is worth 7 points for the ORIGINAL post
replier factor is worth 5 points...this means each unique replier for the ORIGINAL post...additional replies from the same post from the same replier are not calculated
Ranks are simply given by post count.
