Interesting article from today's AJC. Say what you will about the Bengals legal issues last year and Henry's suspension but this is a heavy hit. When the mighty fall, they fall HARD.

http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/falcons/stories/2007/08/25/vickloss_0826.html

And don't you wish Joe Horn would just shut his yap

Dude loves to become the spokesman for everything. If he actually thinks Vick is going to get back in the league with Goodell as comish he's nuts. :tool:

Wow, he is making all the money O.J. Simpson lost look like pennies. I wonder how heavily he was leaning on bribing the other inmates to leave him alone:rotf:

I'm at work and can't view it. What exactly is the amount?

"I'm just glad that Mike is finally just dealing with it and doing what he had to do and understands the mistake he made," Horn said early Friday.

Mistake? Vick made a mistake? Okay, Joe, just put whatever you'er smoking away. A mistake is crashing your car into a tree. A mistake is losing your temper and punching a wall. A mistake is a singular event.

What Vick did hardly classifies as a mistake. It was stupid, irresponsible, and reprehensible. But, it was not a mistake. It was far worse. A mistake you usually regret making. Vick only regrets that he got caught.

Joe Horn needs to shut his pie hole and get to work trying to catch the passes Joey Harrington is going to overthrow to him.

But, as the article states, the amount is only a guestimate as the amounts Vick was making in endorsements is not publickly known.

I think you may are being a little too harsh on Horn Phihos. The guy is just trying to stick up for another player, we have all stuck up for people that have made stupid and wrong choices in their lives, and most of us have not enjoyed that experience, I think Horn was just trying to save a little of Vick's dignity...if he has any left at all.

I was thinking the very same thing after listening to Shaun King use the same word on ESPN's First Take a little while ago. We've heard plenty of people refer to what Vick has done as a "mistake". It's ridiculous how people will try to downplay something like this.

Another example is this idea that Vick wasn't aware just how serious this matter could become. Ignorance is not a defense. If you have to go miles off the beaten path to hold these events in buildings with blacked out windows (or no windows) and as little light as is necessary, then you might want to look a little closer at the legalities on this situation.

I couldn't agree more except that his mistake was using incredibly poor judgement.

"What Michael?......you want to fight dogs?....don't you think you should consider your career first?"

In the words of Bugs Bunny: What a maroon, what an ignoranimous!

No, he's trying to get "face time" for Joe Horn. Joe hasn't even played a down with Michael but to hear him talk he thinks he's the spokesman. I think I heard Mort say there was some resentment in the locker room over Horn's attempt to be the team spokesman.

You don't have to "buy" it. An apology doesn't mean squat unless you follow up with action. Respect is not given, it is earned. We won't know if MV is sincere for a little while yet.

PS. People play the "Jesus Card" for 2 reasons in my opinion:

1. They mean it
2. They are looking for sympathy

You choose...

i don't buy it either but for a different reason. i've probably seen the stupid thing at least 10 times now and the thing that strikes me the most is how many times he had to force back a smile and there were a couple of times it looked like he was about to start laughing. did anyone else notice this or am i just seeing things? the only thing that vick is sorry for is that he got caught.

When you get up in the morning intending to commit a felony that day, it's not a mistake, it's adopting a criminal lifestyle.
