Its looking more and more like Ellis could slip to the Bengals as the Rams, Falcons, and KC are all infatuated with Dorsey since his Pro day workout. Also, I still think Marvin has a lot of loyalty to Rudi and will give him this year to prove himself and not take a RB high in this draft. Therefore, I'd like to see it pan out this way:
1. Sedrick Ellis DT/USC- This gives us a penetrating force to flush the QB out of the pocket and allow Geathers and Odom to clean up.
2. Tracy Porter CB/Indiana- Punt return specialist can have an immediate impact on ST and be groomed to replace Deltha O'neal in the nickel next year.
3a. Ahtyba Rubin DT/Iowa St.- Could be a run-stopping force to compliment Ellis' pass rush abilities. Also, would immediately have the inside track on the 3-4 NT position.
3b. Eddie Royal WR/Va. Tech- Was the best reciever at the combine and has good kick return ability which the Bengals need right now.
4. Jonathan Goff ILB/Vanderbilt Both Thurman and Brooks are still big question marks. This pick could provide insurance in the middle as well as provide us more opportunities to go 3-4.
5. Chad Rhinehart OL/Northern Iowa- This large OL can play tackle or guard similar to Andrews and Whitworth.
6a. Jalen Parmele RB/Toledo- This good size running back could be the pounder that we haven't had since Corey Dillon.
6b. Johnny Dingle DE/West Virginia- a solid backup DE with an incredible motor, who is also an option at 4-3 DT in pass rushing situations.
7b. Jason Shirley DT Fresno St.- A practice squad candidate who has great physical tools and size. Can be a backup option at NT next year.
7c. Jack Ikegwuono CB/Wisconsin-Why not take a 7th round flier on an injured guy with great talent. You can never have enough depth in the secondary.
Some of these players may go earlier than projected here, but this is an ideal draft that could be realistic if things fall properly in late April.
Feedback is encouraged.
