Ok I thought I would start creating new threads about Top 10's of different varieties like movies, sports, music, roller coasters, states, ect.
Of course, you can chime in and tell me where my list stinks and where my list is good.
Today's List will be Top 10 Horror Movies of ALL TIME.
This is what I personally think the top 10 movies of all time are in my opinion.
10: Al Hitchock's Psycho (Original)
9: Nightmare on Elm Street (1st)
8: Friday the 13th (1st)
7: Saw
6: The Shining
5: Night of the Living Dead (orig)
4: The Exorcist
3: Scream
2: Halloween
1: Jaws
Of course, Jaws now and days is not scary, but if you think what that movie did to people in the 70's-80's it terrified people, nobody wanted to even touch the water after they saw that movie.

That is my ultra-top 10 horror movies.
Chime in.

I agree that Jaws was a scary movie for the time. I remember the first time I saw it. I was scared to death to take a bath!! I was a kis and any type of water made me nervous after seeing that movie.
I disagree with Scream being your number 3 movie. That just wasn't that good and it was NOT EVEN CLOSE to being as good as Friday the 13th, Psycho and the Shining.

See here is my reasoning for Scream being the ulter horror movie number 3. Scream did not play by the horror movie rules which I thought was very neat. The killed of Drew berrymore in the first 10 minutes of a film, and that was very Taboo to kill a main start like her off within 10 minutes of a film. Having two killers, and one they put in jail but yet he was released was such a intelligent move. The movie itself is really good to me, of course I do not think it is a better overall movie than the Shining because hands down that is one of the best movies of all time, but I think Scream had more scares than the Shining.
here are some other movies I was considering: Arachnaphobia, Alien, Black Christmas (Orig!), Dawn of the Dead (Orig), Day of the Dead (Orig!), When a Stranger calls (Orig!), Salem's Lot (Orig), Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The Orig, the First One!)
It is a hard list.
I am thinking about tomorrow's list Top 10: Actors, or Top 10: Action Movies.

As I've gotten older I don't really enjoy Horror movies anymore. I liked the Friday the 13th series and Jason series growing up but I'm sure if I watched them today I wouldn't be a big fan of it.
That being said the only Horror movie that I've seen recently that I've really enjoyed was Saw. I thought that movie was done brilliantly (The original Saw that is)...

I've always been partial to Hellraiser. Clive Barker has always been underrated as a horror writer due predominantly to the exceptional work of Stephen King. Hellraiser proved to be hiw best work from a motion picture perspective, making Pinhead a fine horror film villain.

Excorist still to date is a little creepy just imagining that little girl going down the steps is still a little frightning.

I'd like to add for honorable mention: Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horror (made back in the '20s) - the actor who portrays Nosferatu is really creepy looking!

See, I personally just love scream, yes maybe it is rated too high, but once again my list and I still am waiting to see a list from you all! =p
TCM was very good as a original, it was a classic true horror, also A House of 1,000 Corpses was a very mind intriguing scare fest that many people either do not like or find it extremely messed up.
The Thing could be considered here as well as long as the Blair Witch Project.

We talking about the Original or the Remake?
Original was good, not the best Wes Craven Horror, but it was good and crazy.
Remake ******.
One of the best Wes Craven movie's is the old school The House on the Left.
Check it, if you can find it!

Hellraiser needs to be on that list.

Pretty decent list, peko!

I'd throw out scream and put in arachnophobia, but then again that is because I am deathly afraid of spiders. That movie made me crinch almost at every moment :).

Nowadays, I don't really like the horror movies. It's a combination of being desensitised to the content, and being able to know whats going to happen. Gratuitous violence and gore just doesn't make up for bad story telling in my book. *COUGH* Hostel *COUGH*.

I agree. Give me more suspense and less gore.

My scary top 10.
1.The Exorcist(still can't sit through this one)
2.The Silence of the Lambs(not sure if you would truely consider this a horror movie or not)
3.The Shining
4.The Exorcism of Emily Rose
5.From H#ll
6.9th Gate
7.Psycho
8.Night of the Living Dead(original)
9.Poltergeist
10.Texas Chainsaw Massacre(original)
Personally,I'm a big fan of vampire and zombie movies, but anymore, most of them are more action movies than horror.

1. The Exorcist
2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
3. The Wicker Man (Original British version, not the new Nic Cage one.) It's disturbing, trust me.
4. The Howling (First one, not the crappy sequels)
5. Cujo
6. Todd Browning's "Freaks"
7. The Shining
8. Hostel. I really liked this movie. Lots of people I talked to thought it stank, though.
9. The Omen
10. The Night Flyer See it. It's actually a good vampire movie written by Stephen King. Very dark with a nice buildup and the nastiest looking vampire you can imagine.
This all said, I also loved Tales from the Crypt back in the day. It was some funny stuff, but still true to the horror genre. I miss that show.

House of 1000 Corpses is underrated. The Devil's Rejects was better, though. Not as much of a horror film, though. More of a good old shootout western with mass murderers instead of robbers or rustlers. If you're in to calssic southern rock, you'll love the soundtrack.

Don't worry it's being remade. Craven is producing it and he has a director lined up.

I don't know if American Psycho qualifies as a horror film, but it would be in my top five if it did. Great movie, funny at times and plenty disturbing.
