Ricardo Sanchez also has a book coming out criticizing the Bush administration. I cannot believe that people will still say that we shouldn't criticize him, or blame him. I mean, after all, he is the President of this great nation. This is a good article. Now, after reading what Ricardo has to say, think again about President Bush.

Especially this part-
"In 2006, I was forced to retire by civilian leaders in the executive branch of the U.S. government. I was not ready to leave the soldiers I loved. The Army was my life. Service to my nation was my calling. In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, I watched helplessly as the Bush administration led America into a strategic blunder of historic proportions. It became painfully obvious that the executive branch of our government did not trust its military. It relied instead on a neoconservative ideology developed by men and women with little, if any, military experience. Some senior military leaders did not challenge civilian decision makers at the appropriate times, and the courageous few who did take a stand were subsequently forced out of the service."

I find this administration disgusting and wish they would move to a country that fits their beliefs more.

Oh, and for those that use the "You don't support the troops" deal, what about this guy?????????:hmm:

When i read this it makes me think of another former military officer who said this ...

"I think there has been an exaggeration."
John Kerry
On the terrorist threat
Oh wait this guy serves as a U.S Senator ...

You've got to be kidding me. So, the former press secretary to Bush says the same thing that Kerry said in your quote, and the guy who basically helped capture Saddam Hussein BUT you still don't believe them. Wow. People stick to their guns and won't budge. So, yeah, go with the fools who didn't have any military experience.

Next time I want to learn about Geology, I will ask a Gym teacher his/her opinion of how mountains were made. And I'll make sure that said Gym teacher is a Republican.......:rotf:

So, articles that support your perspective are facts while those that oppose them are exaggeration?

Congratulations. You've learned the rules of GA9's one-sided reality. <_<

When books are written like the two that are coming out and our troops see them what do you want ?You just want them to say let's lay down are weapons because hey were fighting here for nothing? We have no clue as to what it's like over there ..i haven't visited Iraq maybe we should all go and see for ourselves ...'i see better than i hear'

I think there has been an exaggeration of the terrorist threat, too. But anyway, sod doing anything sensible - lets just go to *war*. I mean, intelligence based sting missionsa are for sissies, let's just go to *war*.

In related news, I support the war in Iraq - I just wish they'd been honest about their intenions, though.

During a videoconference with his national security team and generals, Sanchez writes, Bush launched into what he described as a "confused" pep talk:

"Kick ***!" he quotes the president as saying. "If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can't send that message. It's an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal."

It sounds like a Will Ferrell impersonation, but it is a real account of the president.

I fail to see your logic here. How is reading the book going to lead the soldiers to risk their own lives. From the friends that I have in the Army, many of them think that the war in Iraq is pointless and that we shouldn't be there. But, that doesn't mean that they are giving up. It seems to me that they are less concerned about the current political situation and more concerned with coming home alive and making sure that the person next to them does to.

I also can't quite comprehend why people have an issue with dissenting voices expressing their opinions. It saddens me to see that our country has the origin of taking on the biggest power in the world, and yet now we have a country where if someone dissents, they are labeled a traitor and berated by a variety of talking heads. Having two sides (or more) speaking has to be better for a democracy than one voice telling us what to think and how to act.

I saw an interview with Gen. Sanchez and I fully believe his story. I dont know if the responsibility goes all the way to Bush, but I believe it certainly goes up to former Sec of Defense (SECDEF) Rumsfeld. Based on what I saw they, the Department of Defense, totally dropped the ball when they invaded Iraq and finally toppled Saddam. They pulled out too quickly (no sexual inuendoes there) leaving Sanchez's troops in place with a mission they were not set up to handle. I believe it started at the Central Command (CENTCOM) commander and went at least right up to the SECDEF if not higher. Now before you republicans start bashing me, know this, I am a republican, but I cannot turn a blind eye away from what I see an injustice. BTW I am also retired military so if you guys think I dont support the troops, think again.

Sure, I'll defend him. I've voted for him twice and if he were allowed to run a third time I'd vote for him again.

Being president is a tough job - if you do it. Bill Clinton had problems to deal with and he didn't....that's why they got pushed to Bush.

Bush refused to just shove things along to whomever comes after him. He dealt with things.

Let's not forget that the intel of several nations said Saddam had WMD - and he simply got tired of waiting for the UN to do something about it. Saddam is dead now.

As for the guy being pressured out....how do you know the order came from Bush? How do you know he's even telling the truth?

Oh, and don't forget the good things he's done. No child left behind act, clearing away undergrowth in the national forests, getting our troops back from China without an incident (forgot about that, didn't you?) and putting the terrorists from Afghanastan on the run by getting rid of the Taliban. And don't forget that the Iraqi people are free now.

Who's saying that you can't express your dissenting opinion? Just as you're allowed to criticize the president, we're allowed to criticize you for criticizing him. It's called Freedom of Speech, not Freedom of Speech and from the Consequences of Your Speech. As long as the government's not putting you in jail for what you said, then you still have your Freedom of Speech.

Philos, what you're saying is smart, and well thought out. But did you really read his post? I totally disagree with your analysis of his post. I'm just going by the post you responded to. I have not read this whole thread, but if there is more to it, then I apologize.
