What exactly is the point of this thread? To prove that a human being can mis-speak? What gives? Should we now look up an Obama mis-speak so we can be fair?

Well, if I wasn't already voting for Obama, this would have settled it. There's a reason I don't even consider the candidate from the Prohibition Party (http://www.prohibition.org/), after all.

PSSST... I think it's all a joke... it is a funny mistake, after all...

Pssst. I know that it was a joke, but I also feel it was a jab at a political candidate trying to portray him as incompetent. I just feel the rhetoric should be toned down a bit, we hear it enough from the candidates, the news, and talking heads. :smirk:

Yesterday, I heard 2 sound bites from Obama where he was stumbling and bumbling his way through an answer to a question in which he did not actually answer the question. It was embarrassing to hear.

From what I've seen, Obama is a great speaker ... when he's got the speech in front of him (teleprompter, cards, etc.). When Obama has to "fire from the hip," so to speak, he stumbles, fumbles his words, says "uh" or "um" waaaaaaaay too much.

It shows the wisdom of McCain in trying to get as many townhall meetings with Obama as possible.

Well, if that is true, it will probably help him. George W. Bush was never really known for his eloquence. We tend to vote for the candidate who would be the most fun to have a beer with (although that backfired terribly for hillary).

Most likely 'cause there is NEVER a time you can have fun having a beer with her. Unless it's throwing full beer bottles at her.

Now this is an idea I can hop on board with. Someone rent the bus, I'll bring a few cases of good beer (to drink), and bad beer (to throw).

Whoever becomes President this fall... is going to have a lot of major problems.

Although if Obama adds seven to every number... maybe he'll give us 57 beers!

Meh, sounds like a Steeler fan with all this talk of 57.

Another reason to vote McCain. ;)

EVERYONE does that. Obama, McCain, Bush, Blair, Churchill, King, you, me, whoever. It's an inevitable side-effect of discourse. Otherwise it would seem that he would... be... talking... really... slowly...

But some are better than others. Heck, from the things I've heard, much of the time Bush was better at it than Obama.

Bill Clinton is probably one of the best I've ever seen (heard) to be able to speak freely without stumbling or bumbling or using tons of "ums" and "ahs."

And so far, McCain seems to be better at it than Obama.

Yeah, McCain doesn't give as many "ums" and "ahs", instead he goes and just says all the wrong words, then having to be corrected at the end...
