My initial interest in politics was sparked by Watching Meet the Press. This really makes me sad, and he was so young.

It's always a shame when someone passes no matter the age.

My prayers are with his family.

My thoughts exactly. Russert was one of the few that I actually felt like was giving me "actual" information.

It should be a two-headed approach.

I say every debate should be moderated by Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken. I don't think anyone can argue that it wouldn't be entertaining to watch. :smirk:

It would be exciting, until Rush ate Al. Then we'd just see this:

Tim Russert, host of NBC's "Meet the Press" and a political analyst for "NBC Nightly News" and the "Today" program, has died after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 58.

Everytime I saw him on TV, he knew what he was talking about.

I always enjoyed listening to him talk about politics, or even being interviewed on a late show.

And in the middle of this election, I hate to see it happen to such a great political analyst.

RIP

Wow. This is a loss for us.

He was one of the few left who told it like it was.. Didn't let his personal views get in the way of the facts.. He made a fool of many a politician, republican and democrat, over the years. I always like the fact that he was a sort of devil's advocate.

Man, this is sad. Tim was a good one. I was looking forward to watching him as the election draws near.

58 is way too young. I'm 33, but once you hit your 30s, you realize that 50s is not too far away. Shoot, when I was 25, 33 seemed soooooo far away.

Very sad. He would never let a politician be thrown softball questions. If it's Sunday, it's Meet the Press.

They say he was an encyclopedia of political knowledge. His son just graduated from college and they had traveled to Italy. He had come back so that he could do Meet the Press. Sadly, he had to put his father, Big Russ, in a assisted living facility just last week.

They say he had a coronary thrombosis. And had, apparently, been suffering from asymptomatic coronary artery disease. He passed away at work, where I think that we can agree that if he couldn't pass quietly in the presence of his family that that would be where he would want to go. :(

Tom Brokaw seems to have taken it hard. Russert was a close friend and colleague of his:
