Let's play some toss up. Someone poses a question, you answer and state a reason, then you pose a question and we continue that way.
So, I pose the question........TOSS UP: ROOKIE QB SIT EM OR START EM!?
Jom112
06-12-2007, 05:23 PM
Sit em.
Not just because that worked out for Palmer. As a rookie there is a lot you have learn on and off the field about the NFL. Once your starting you have to concentrate on your opponent that week which will takes up a lot of your time. One season to ease into it would be the preferred route.
Next question: If you are an expansion team do you first get a franchise LT or a franchise RB? (Franchise QB is not an option)
Buckeyehitman
06-12-2007, 10:22 PM
Franchise RB. Chances are you can get a good or cerviceable T later in the draft or even in free agency.
Toss Up: Key to a Superbowl, great defense or great offense
calell83
06-13-2007, 10:09 AM
Great Defense....Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships....
Toss Up: Shoudl fans root against there team is they can get the #1 overall pick yes or no

Toss Up: Shoudl fans root against there team is they can get the #1 overall pick yes or no
No, fans shouldn't root against their team. Although whoever gets McFadden in next years draft is going to be dangerous.
Toss Up: College Football's overtime system or NFL's overtime system...

Toss Up: College Football's overtime system or NFL's overtime system...
College Football's overtime.
You'd be hard pressed to find any bengals fan on this board advocating the NFL system after the Pittsburgh game that knocked us out of the playoffs. Both systems are flawed, because the college takes too long, but at least you don't decide the game on a coin flip.
Toss up: More important to their team, Franchise RB or Franchise QB.

Toss up: More important to their team, Franchise RB or Franchise QB.
Franchise QB is more important. There are so many reasons, but I'm going to stick with one point. The amount of players that are the top NFL-level talent at the QB position is far less than the amount players that can make the top of NFL-level talent at the RB position. This is why teams are constantly cycling through QBs (Anthony Wright, Cade McNown, Tim Rattay) that have failed with other teams. This is why an almost 40 year old Vinny Testeverde could still make a team two years ago. There are just too few of people that can excel at the NFL's QB position.
Toss up: which is prettier when executed to perfection, a flea-flicker, HB-toss, or a double reverse?
bengalbuck11
06-14-2007, 07:29 AM
Out of the three I would say the Flea flicker would be my fav. Last years Feista Bowl showed us that the statue of liberty is no jokin matter
Toss Up..... Penn State or Notre Dame?
Buckeyehitman
06-14-2007, 07:31 AM
Flea Flicker
A HB toss is pretty routine. A double reverse, while difficult, is largely based on the defense not sniffing out the play. A flea flicker is pretty difficult because you have to hand off, then wait for the pitchback, hope it's on target and then find your target.
Toss Up: Who would you take right now (if they were the same age) Peyton Manning or Carson Palmer?

Notre Dame is as overrated as the steelers, you are a steeler's fan right and what is your come back to anything that has to do with the steelers is well "we have 5 rings what do you have". Well being a Notre Dame fan we have 11 national championships how many does penn state have? And Notre Dame has the best fan's. Penn State is P**P.

oooo good one. I'll go with Ladanian. Walter Payton was great, but they both have a tremendous line, and LT adds the dimension of throwing and catching. If you would've said LT or Barry Sanders, then I probably would've gone against LT.

This year, because I think Chad and Carson deserve it, Marvin deserves it, 10 years from now who knows where they will be. Carson could be a back-up and Chad could be doing ESPN.
TOSS UP: Bigger Bengal Dissapointment Dave Klingler vs. Akili Smith

Neither! I would take a good offense and good defense over a great offense and mediocre defense or the opposite any day of the week. But if I had to choose I would go with a great defense.

That's a tough one, but I'd have to go with Klingler. He started most of his time in college, and did very well. We thought we were getting the best QB prospect in years. Smith, although a complete and utter bust and probably the biggest bust in years. The fans had largely given up on the team at that point, so there was little disappointment, because there wasn't much expectations. Besides, he was a one year starter, some were unsure about him from the start. I mean if you can't win a starting job at Oregon, then how great can you be?
Toss Up: Odell Thurman or Ahmad Brooks (assuming Odell didn't have his legal issues).

I'll take one of each! [:D] This is going to rough to say, but I'll take Leon Hall. He's bigger and hasn't dropped a bunch of INTs in stripes at this point in time.
Here's a good one to make the Who Dey nation puke a little. If you had to add one of the following starters into the Bengal's lineup, who would you add: Hines Ward, Joey Porter, or Jerome Bettis?

[::wipes up the puke from own keyboard::]
It wouldn't be the most popular move, but it would have to be Porter. I have a much greater respect for Ward & Bettis, but Ward could not replace CJ's speed and deep threat nor would he provide anything different than what TJ provides in the tough and clutch catches. Bettis wouldn't provide much different from Rudi except for far fewer carries. They would both be great in the locker room, but wouldn't improve the team significantly on the field.
By comparison, the defense could use a leader and playmaker like Porter. Yes, there are other considerations, but, if I had to pick one of those 3, Porter would make the most sense.
Toss up: Marvin Lewis or Sam Wyche?

That's a rough one. They both have so many positives and are both so great, it's like choosing between Mint Chocolate Chip Ice cream or Peanut Butter and Chocolate chip ice cream. Until Marvin gets us to the SB and wins us a SB, I'm gonna have to go sam "You don't live in Cleveland!" Wyche.
Toss up: what makes you feel safer, the Bengals down by 6 with 80 yards to go with 1 timeout and 90 seconds on the clock, or down by 2 at the 50 with no timeouts and 2 seconds left?

Down by 6 with 80 yards to go & 90 seconds. That's plenty of timefor Palmer and Co. to work their two-minute magic. Plus in the othersituation, everyone knows what's coming (a streak or hail mary).
Toss up: Down by 6 with 80 yards to go and 90 seconds, which tight end would you rather have--Rodney Holman or Dan Ross?

Another tough one. I respect what Marvin has done for the organization, and I love him as a coach. However you have to go with Sam Wyche here. That man was a QB and offensive genius. It was a sad day when he had to step down. Although, I'd gladly take either one.

Sign him Long-Term for a cheap long term deal. Look this guy still is a great player for the Bengals, even though I think Joe will disagree. If we sign him long and sign him cheap then what is the problem? If he stinks, we can just use him on 3rd downs and put in Frostee or a draft pick in for him on 1st and 2nd downs.

I'd take TJ no doubt. Not only has Henry had some off the field problems, he's been known to take a few plays off and short arm a few balls. He hasn't shown the mental toughness that TJ's shown.

2007 Bengals. I already know what happened in 88, adn there's not point in living in the past. We've got great potential to win it all if the Defense can significantally improve.

Steeler Fans by process of elimination. You probably wouldn't be able to find enough Brown Fans to make a full team and I wouldn't want to play Raven fans because I don't feel like getting hotsauce poured on my ankles. Also assuming the game would be played during the day, the Steeler fans would probably be the easiest to defeat because they probably just got done working the 3rd shift...

Toss up: would u rather have a young RB (manyh years and great and quick.) or a Old QB (great hall of famer)

Old QB, it is a much harder position to replace. We made an artform out of being horrible at replacing it, in fact. RB is the one position that has the lowest bust rate in the NFL. Besides, whoever heard of QB by committee working?
Toss Up: Worse NFL owner, Bill Bidwell (Cardinals) or Henry Ford (Lions)?

Toss up: Pats or Colts? better dynasty?
Ok, you don't get to play anymore.
I'll take the stud pass rusher. It's been widely theorized that as long as you have a dominant pass rush, you can get away with not having gamebreaking linebackers. Most GMs tend to buy into it too, how often do you hear of LBs taken in the top 5 of the draft?
Toss Up: Who will be the better Bengal in the end: Anthony Munoz or Levi Jones?

Orlando Cabrera. Still wondering how he didn't make the team. Michael Young should be at home watching the All-Star game instead of Cabrera....

I'll take Rowe, because McNeal is a trouble maker and is more learning the WR position, and EMERGENCY QB is not something I really want to hear after Doug Johnson.
Jeff Rowe has been a QB for a long time and he is strickly just learning the NFL QB role, McNeal is trying to make the team as a WR.

Bigger Running Threat to Our Defense This Year: Willis McGhee or Jamal Lewis
SmallAxe
07-09-2007, 04:09 PM
Willis McGhee is easily the bigger threat because Jamal was traded to the Browns. The Browns will be inthe bottom 1/4 of offense stats this year.
Toss up (16 to choose from): The biggest margin of victory for the Bengals' regular season this year will be against _______ .

Out of those two, I'd have to say Hester. Since Revis will likely be playing a full time position on defense, he will have to be saved for that. No man has the endurance to be a starting CB and punt returner without losing a step. Since Hester will likely only be used for trick plays and special teams, he will have the endurance to keep his speed at a level where he'll be a threat.
Toss up: If you were heading up the Browns, who's your starter Charlie Frye or Brady Quinn?

Neither, I actually say Derek Anderson. I think Anderson proved alot to me last year when he played, he was composed and he looked like he could be a Matt Schuab type of player when he learns more.
More Sacks This Year: Justin Smith or Robert Geathers
Buckeyehitman
07-16-2007, 05:27 PM
I'm going to shock some people here and with Smith. I believe Geathers will get his, however Smith has more motivation. He doesn't have a long term contract and he's looking for top DE money in next year's offseason. Being that that is the case, he's going to have to break through that ceiling that prevents him from getting double digit sacks. I'm going to say he gets 12.5 and Geathers gets 10. Smith will get his big payday and the Bengals will try to find a younger, cheaper option.
Toss up: Faster, Ted Ginn Jr. (world class sprinter who couldn't workout at combine) or Yamon Figurs (3rd rounder for the Ravens, and fastest combine time).

Bigger choke? I'd say they were equally as horrible. But we did have to deal the elements and Romo was in the dome... so Romo.
