The Chicago Cubs trade embattled C Michael Barrett to the Padres in exchange for backup catcher Rob Bowen and OF Kyle Burke. On May 20, 2006, Barrett was the center of attention in a game against the White Sox. C AJ Pierzynski of the White Sox crashed into Barrett at home plate, slapped home plate with his hand, Barrett punched Pierzynski, which produced a major bench clearing brawl. Barrett was suspended 10 games for his role in the fight.
