When you draft a QB in the 2nd round instead of a CB that you really need... um yeah Defense wins Championships, and Defense is something they DO NOT have.
They could win 10 games, because Kitna has an explosive offense with a good running back and 3 good wide recievers.
In a very easily winnable division.

Haha 10 games? I guess it could be done.. but very unlikely..

It could be done. They have a decent defense, a potentially explosive offense. Their RB underachieves at times, but is durable and adequate. Realistically, they're in the NFC, 10 wins for any team out there is a stretch, but all of the teams in that conference save for about 3 are fairly beatable by the lions.
If he believes, I believe. Besides, he's got to try to help turn around the mentality there, just like he helped to do here. Kitna, CJ and Marvin are three of the biggest reasons we got a swagger back.

As he showed us here Kitna has enough talent to bring the lions an 8-8 season. Good luck.

Yes but we were in a more difficult division. Again, it's not out of the realm of possibility, I just hope they realize how difficult of a challenge they just set out for themselves. If they slip up NFL Live and every other football show on the planet will be playing that sound bite ad nauseum.

Trade Kitna.
In 10 of their games score more points than the other team.
Fire Matt Millen.
Just some suggestions that will help them win more games. The Kitna one was a joke, but they can do better. I think he's a great guy, but he isn't the best player. If he can cut down on the INT's and become consistent, he could do well. He had 22 picks to 21 touchdowns, and only 2 seasons with more TD's than interceptions(only 1 as starter). When talking about consistency, a chart of his passer rating would look more like a mountain range. Obviously, he isn't horrible, but pulling someone else out of retirement/a free agent pick up/trading for someone/strating Stanton wouldn't blow my mind.
The next one... well... it's just my motto one how to win football games.
Millen. Ok. He's a great guy. But, c'mon. Signs saying 'Fire Matt Millen' have replaced 'John 3:16'. One was two timezones away in Denver, at a baseball game. He has shown no ability in drafting. Even for the Calvin Johnson pick. He was offer 2 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick, 2 3rd round picks, and Al Wilson for their pick and he wouldn't budge. I understand the guy's a HOFmer, but you already have(grab your popcorn) Roy Williams(Pro-Bowler), Mike Furrey(made nfl.com's underrated team with 1086 yards, 98 catches, 6 Td's, and a 11.1 yards per catch average), Kevin Casper, Eddie Drummond(Pro-Bowler), DeVale Ellis, Marcus Robinson, and 5 others. Calvin was also the 4th first round WR in 5 years for the Lions. Not to mention cutting 2 of them(Charles Rogers and Mike Williams). You have to hold your first round picks. Not matter how bad they are doing, you try to get them moving and give them at least 3 years.
Potential is there, but they need to unleash it. Lets see what Martinelli can do.

The Lions have the weapons to make a run at 10 wins, however I think there's going to be a lot of unrest in the locker room. With the pick of Calvin Johnson at #2 and with them already having Williams, Mike Furrey is going to be demoted to the #3 and I don't think he's going to be pleased with that.
They brought in Tatum Bell and T.J. Duckett as their RBs, but they still have Kevin Jones who is in rehab and I think will be back during the later point of the season. Duckett wanted out of Atlanta because he wanted a bigger role which he didn't get in Washington either. That's 3 good RBs, but they'll all want to be the feature back. Their backfield is going to be in disarray.
I like the acquisition of George Foster, but come on, Joe Thomas should've been picked here. They need O-line help and Thomas would've been a major improvement.
Their defense isn't going to be good, at least this year. They traded away their best defender in Dre Bly. Their best D-lineman is lazy and can't keep his nose out of trouble and they franchised their 2nd best D-lineman, and he wants out of there real bad.
The future looks good for Ernie Sims and Bullocks will develop into a decent Safety.
The pick of Johnson can be looked at any way. He was the best player in the draft and it seemed like the smart move to grab him, but you already had 2 good solid receivers, needed O-line help. I don't think Stanton is going to be the future, they should just draft a QB next year.

The Lions need to "Shut up and Play". Their mouths aren't doing them any favors. To say they will win 10 games probably ticked off their division rivals just as much as, if not more than, it pumped up the team. Now the 3 teams that they play twice a season are going to be looking to mess them up.

well, i am about as big a lions fan as there is (bengals are #1 but detroit is definately #2), but i would rather ol' roy do the talking and kitna just play ball.
Im not sure they can pull out 10 games this year. I think they will get to 8-8 at best. I would love to see 10-6 though for sure.
The team is going to be even more talented on offense this year. I think furrey will stay #2 for most of the year though. You cant really put calvin in at number two yet. Furrey proved himself last year. Running game is going to be great IMO. If kevin jones can come back healthy and stay healthy anyway. Bell and duckett will start and i think share the load. Bell is used to that, coming from denver, and when jones comes back it shouldnt be an issure for split downs.
defense still worries me. I hate that bly is gone. They will be better than last year though. i think the linebackers are solid and the dl is getting better. Alma Francy (SP) was a great pick. secondary is their weakness.
All in all i think kitna will play all year and throw less picks. Last year it was easy to pick him off because throwing was the only option. I mean they had NO rb's to use. They had to bring guys back on the team that they had cut earlier to run.
I dont feel safe making any garauntees other than this......They WILL be better than last year!

Well said. What Detroit has going for them is that their division is on somewhat of a decline while their own roster has seen some nice improvements. The Lions still have a ways to go before they become legit contenders, and a good 8-8 season or better would be a good way to start. 10 wins seems a little rediculous considering this is the Pros, and none of the teams are going to roll over and die for them.
