So I have been reading reports from CBSsportsline that you should stay away from Marc Bulger this week. ESPN is saying that Marc Bulger is going to have a breakout game. Do I sit Marc Bulger for Phillip Rivers?

Which 2 WRs do I start out of Plaxico Burress, Laverneous Coles, and Santonio Holmes?

Let me add one more to this mix, Carnell Williams or Larry Johnson?

The problem with Bulger isn't so much that he's struggling, but that he's injured. Now that there's no legitimate threat at running back to compliment the passing game, I'd be very concerned about whether he even finishes the game. The Dallas defense can give up numbers through the air and the Rams will likely be relegated to throwing to play catch up. However, it's too great a risk. Bulger will break out eventually - health permitting - but it's not worth taking that gamble this week when you have Rivers facing the Chiefs. He may lose out on points should LT break out himself, but his chances of big numbers are greater than Bulger's, IMHO.

The running back situation also factors in injuries. Cadillac's health is also in question, as evidenced by Tampa's backup running back getting a pair of TDs last week. Their matchup with the inconsistent Panthers is much more attractive that LJ at San Diego, but at least you know Johnson should be getting the bulk of the carries, especially near the goal line (if the Chiefs get that close). LJ is also more likely for a huge game than Williams, even if the chances for either doing so is slim.

Not surprisingly, injuries also play a role in your receiver decision. Burress has been playing through his all season, so it hopefully won't be a factor for you this week either. If he plays, he's clearly your #1. The other start should go to Coles. I like Holmes and will be starting him in my league. However, Coles is the Jets #1 option against a poor Bills team. Holmes may get more catches with Hines Ward out for the Steelers and it wouldn't really suprise me if he had a very good day, but I feel they'll probably rely even more on Parker to shorten the game.

Best of luck!

I think this is exactly what I needed to hear. I have Rivers in Burress and Coles then my issue with LJ is that he has been playing so poor all season. Williams is at least getting touchdowns. I like your analysis though, I am leaning towards LJ this week.

The interesting thing is, Williams and LJ do not play until 4 so I have a little extra time to tackle this problem. I usually don't have this problem with my Running Backs but they are ALL on freaking bye week. I have Cadilac williams, LJ, LaMont Jordon, Lendale White, and Reggie Bush. Bush White are on Bye alone with Santana Moss a wide receiver, 1 of my D's and Kicker. phew I guess its good to get them all out of the way early.

The reason Bulger is not doing well is because of two reasons, busted up ribs,Orlando Pace on IR again for the year. So this loss of Orlando is huge because it effects Steven Jackson's running also mainly because Orlando fills a big hole.

I am assuming that you used your 1st pick to get LJ...
I'm a firm believer that you ride your 1st pick regardless of their stats or matchups or any possible slumps. That is all I have to add to this.

Yeah its definitely a good idea that I played LJ, he had a decent game against the chargers and the Williams got injured, so I picked up Dominic Rhodes from Oakland who has been suspended but is coming back after the bye week this week. I figured depending on what happens between lamont jordan or rhodes. i will have a reliable backup plan if either johnson or bush start sucking hard again.

You think it'll be Rhodes instead of Fargas?

Absolutely! They did not pay Rhodes that kind of Money for 1 year to ride the pine coming off suspension. They are gonna run him and Jordon (if healthy) and if one goes down they will split with Fargas.

My feelings are that the only reason fargas did as well as he did is because of how Jordon pounded the ball in the first half before coming out. Then throw in some fresh legs and the defense was just beat. I have a feeling that they will run a similar 2 back situational set kinda like NO Saints did last year.

If you need a flex Rb---why not look at Micheal Pittman? Because I don't see Rhodes doing all that swell really.
