All indications are that there are no DEs worth a top 6 pick and the OT we want will probably be gone. If we were to draft Alex Mack number one (hopefully a trade down although that is not likely); we could go with a DE or LB in round two.

Everything I am reading says that Mack can start at guard in NFL right now. With an experienced Center from free agency, Mack could relieve Whit to play at whichever tackle position he is needed. Collins will be a good OT eventually. We would have what many say is the best center available for years and resolve the short term solution on the offensive line. Mack will be the best offensive lineman available at 6,

So you are saying draft a C with the #6 position when we could get AT LEAST the 1-3 best C in the 2nd round?

Centers are too deep in the class to worry about one.

I want Wood and hope he's there in the 3rd. If not I'll take Luigs in the 3rd. Mack is great but he just isn't worth #6.

I think that when you look at our team needs that Mack is the best player in the draft for us. With that said there is no way we could spend 6th pick money on him, which is why I think we need to either trade down and get him or trade our 2nd rd pick to move back up in the first to get him. He would be an instant upgrade to our offensive line and to our football team. No way can we spend a 6th pick on him.

Where are you getting this indication that the OT we want will be gone? There is more than 1 top rated tackle in this draft. When we get to #6 at least one of the big 3 will be there....A. Smith, E. Monroe, or M. Oher. None of them would hurt my feelings ...I would not mind getting Smith so that you could insert him at RT.

Actually I think he's saying to draft Mack in round #1 and convert him into a Guard so that Whit can move to tackle???

A different perspective is probably a bit of an understatement. If we are going to reach for a Center to turn him into a G, why not just take Duke Robinson and not have a 'tweener' on our hands?

The art of drafting is taking the best player that fits your team. Not the player that might fit a big need. I'm with everyone else. If the T are gone go best player, which would probably be D

We would probably be paying more for a Center at the 6 spot then a lot of teams do to their Solid Veteran Centers. If OT isn't there take the best player available or trade down. I think i would be madder if they took a Center at 6 than if they didn't take one at all!

I still like the idea of Oher/Monroe at 6 and Unger/Mack at 38. I don't see any scenario of us trading down far enough to grab a C in the 1st. Probably the best scenario to happen would be to package Chad or TJ (tag n trade) with our 3rd RD for a sub 20 pick in the 1st RD. We could then look at #6 Oher/Monroe/Smith's, #18Moreno/Maualuga/Jenkins/Wells/English/Mack/Unger, #38 Mack/Unger/Marks/Mack/Unger/McCoy/Greene/Johnson. I would love to have to an extra mid first RD pick to lock up Mack or Unger even if it means lossing Chad or TJ and a 3rd.

Im even willing to go defense in the first round if we are sure to get Unger/Mack in the 2nd round. Just having one of those guys over Eric G makes our line better, and more experienced anthony collins. Then get an OT like Collins this past year in the 3rd or 4th. Need to keep getting young playmakers on D.
