Inspired by Turk's, Favorite Live Shows post:
If you could pick one band, past or present, who would you chose?
I, of course, would have to chose Bob Marley.

Well, this now the second thread inspired by me!!! [:D] Thank you, thank you!!
Ok, this is actually a tough decision for me, My first thought was Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack back in their hey day (I am huge Sinatra fan) Then I got to thinking about all the other great bands I have never had the chance to see..The Beatles, Zeppelin and of course one of my other all time favs, the King baby..Elvis!! (I have many original albums)
So there ya go..I guess all those are my answer....along with Waylon Jennings and Hank Sr.

The Beatles (sometime after the Sgt. Pepper's)
Phish (sometime in August of 1993, prefereably 8/6/1993 or 8/26/1993)
The original Miles Davis Quintent (possibly the best jazz lineup ever)
The Grateful Dead (some part of the 1972 tour in Europe)
Dispatch (any show that they performed "The General")
Neutral Milk Hotel (performing In an Aeroplane Over the Sea)
Sublime (before H ruined, and eventually killed, Bradley)

I just saw them on Saturday night. They were the headliner for the All Good music festival. I really hadn't heard them befroe, and I really liked it. They are playing in Cincinnati tonight (7/17/2007), and I'm thinking about going again.

sounds like a pretty easy decision. always great to see at a festival, but sets are cut short. think you will REALLY like if you see a full show.

And no, I'm not always a smart Alec. I am sometimes, but not always. Usually, it's playful, not malacious.
I blame the interenet. The inability to see someone's nonverbal communication, like smiles, other facial features, body posture, and whatnot, can make even the most innocent comment seem sarcastic and rude.

I'm going to Lollapalooza in a few weeks and they are playing. Worth seeing? I don't know a lot about them.
If you like jam bands like phish you will probably enjoy them even more.
as for the topic, I have always posed the question this way,"If you could only listen to one artist or band for the rest of your life who would it be? Choose wisely because you might live for a very long time."
I have thought about it quite a few different times and realize that musically I rotate through different phases of heavy, soft old, and new. The answer has to be something that you always come back to no matter what you are into now. The Beatles are up there along with old VH, but the one that does it for me is LED ZEP! They cover all the moods for me and I think that I will still enjoy them as an old man.

I didn't actually see them at Lolla. I didn't get there until day 2. The festival was great, though. Muse, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Pearl Jam were all great. The bands actually seemed very excited to be there. Some (PJ) actually appeared to be trying a little bit too hard to make it a huge show, but I guess it's better than just standing around and waiting to get paid. Best year yet IMHO.
BFan71

Just curious, how do you think PJ tried too hard to make it a huge show?
