For the first time it appears as if we have a team. I am not meaning we are going to win the superbowl but the guys appear to be having a great time and working really hard. Cedric is looking like the horse he was at Texas and Carson looks wonderful. With the acception of Chad not being here this team is reminding me of the Cavs this year. The cavs were just out there having a good time and I feel we will be the same type of taem this year. Chad if you are out there reading this please come to training camp ready to join this team so we can be able to see a playoff game with our team winning..:tiger::tiger::tiger:

It does, but I am still trying to mask my excitement. Unfortunately, only a year ago we were hearing how good a guy like Rudy looked and he was cut. We have holes still, but if a team has a will to win, that will go a long way toward winning. The reports are all positive, let's hope it stays that way and these young men learned from mistakes of others in the past and stay out of trouble and focused.

So we'll choke when it counts...like the Cavs:smirk:
And you have no idea if we're a true team till you see that on the field. The whole, "We have become a true team" junk happens every year

I dont think that the cavs choked. They made the confrence finals. If the Bengals can make the AFC championship I will be tickled. Once again I dont call that choking. Thanks for the comment though..

Dude the Cavs did choke, they got too full of themselves and the Magic put them in a whole they couldn't get out of. They were just screwed because they felt they wouldn't lose a single game until they were in the finals.

I still dont call making it to a division championship series choking. We all have an opinion and my opinion is that if we make it to the AFC championship game I may just be one of the happiest men in the world lol

lol i would be happy too, but i was just talking about the Cavs. With the expectations they had on them, they choked in failing to meet them. I don't call their season a failure but they shouldn't have slept on the magic like they did.

I think we have the team and it's up to the coaching staff to do something with the talent we have.

You must not have watched any of that series if you say the Cavs choked. The simple truth is they lost to a bigger, faster, better team.
And yes, it's too soon to know what we have. It is, however, not a bad thing to feel good about recent events and be hopeful for what lies ahead, as difficult as that may be for some to do. There are plenty of Reality Police here to make sure we don't get too happy.

We seem to have a better attitude. I hope we win enough tough games early to forge a team, and make the playoffs.

I watched every game besides the very last one. They did choke. That's all that Cleveland is good for.
They lost because their coach is an idiot. Guess what his name is? Mike Brown. I never seen a worse coach in basketball in my life. Every great basketball player has a great coach and Lebron James doesn't have one. Jordan with Jackson. Kobe with Jackson. Bird with what's his name. The list goes on. The truth is the Ownership tried to win a championship with only James. Sounds fimiliar with Palmer.
If this team is to do anything, they need good coaches. We have good coaches on defense. So, maybe Palmer and co. can carry the offense.
Mike Brown choked with the Cavs, therefore the Cavs choked. At times he looked like he didn't know what he was doing. The best part was when the players where standing there watching James.
# 1 rule in basketball. Work the defense on offense and there offense wont have the legs to shoot the ball. Look at the stats, I bet the times that the Cavs players were moving was the time when the Magic shot the worst. Any coincidence.

This is what it felt like prior to 2004 and 2005. Things were looking good, there was a sense that the Bengals weren't going to just be competitive, they might actually be good. I'm hoping they can repeat the magic in the next year or two and avoid any major injuries this time.

You have a point but this time is different here's why. Last season Marvin talked about how much he liked the team, how hard they worked, he didn't like the losing but the team came together more as a team and not big and little you's, as you know htere is no I in team, with Carson out and all the injuries we've had over the last few season has made were we have depth in some positions the linebackers are deep and very good. The defensive line has improved and with more depth also and now we may have the hardest hitting safeties in the game so yes this is a true team remember when we won the afc north Marvin said that the team weren't as good as they thought they were after last season they're humble and they know they are better than their record from last year :rock on::denny::tiger::rock on:

.
But not as big, fast, or good as the Lakers. Now, if the Lakers don't win, it will be obvious that they choked.
And, yes, I think the Bengals could be one of those feel good stories where a team had slowly accumulated talent but seemed to come out of nowhere when it all finally came together (and added a few missing pieces).

It's easy to say certain teams are "true teams" with "team players" when they've experienced lots of success.
We'll see about the Bengals when they have to respond to some adversity. Last season was a good indicator that we're on the right track, but we still need to fix a few areas - i.e. Chad. I think we may be seeing our last season with him on the roster.

Not to try to hijack this thread, but ,come on. The Cavs were a one man team, with no answer for Howard or Orlando's outside game, no bench, two undersized guards, no scoring threat other than James. To blame that on their coach is ludicrous. The NBA is a player's league, where coaching has less to do with outcome than any other professional team sport.

To blame that on their coach is ludicrous. The NBA is a player's league, where coaching has less to do with outcome than any other professional team sport.
Then you obviously don't understand the management part of basketball.
You see when players are playing they lose control of themselves. They get taken over by their emotions. For example. When the Magic started making a run, you could see a panic between the players, even James. They started shooting horrible shots hoping for the ball to go in. Why not take a time out and settle the players down. Great Coaches know when to use timeouts. Mike Brown doesn't. Hell, you don't even have to take a time out. Just start yelling at the players to settle down. But, I think Mike Brown panicked. Because he didn't know what to do. This was easily seen throughout the series. His adjustments were late.
Why not start Ben Wallace to defend against Howard? Especially, after the comments Ben Wallace made. All Ben Wallace needs is motivation and he will dominate. If he fouls out. Who cares. He would do better at defending Howard than Z or Varasqal.
There are designed basketball plays. 90% of the time, teams run designed plays. Another reason to discredit the thought that it is a players league. The problem with the Cavs was the players standing around on offense and watching James. If they were moving, like the design plays intend, then the Magic defense would have to work. You work harder on defense than offense. It's a given in basketball. So, if the Magic are running around they are getting tired. Tired legs result in poor shots, front end rim misses, etc. It's a known fact in basketball. The slightest error, throws off your shot. You over compensate for your tired legs, your shot will be off.
The whole game showed signs of poorly management by the Cavs coaches. The Cavs coaches got out coached by the Magic coaches.
The Magic players weren't better than the Cavs players. They just were in a position to win. 3 of the Cavs losses in the season came against the Magic. The above is why. Mike Brown had a set lineup that matched up well against every team, except the Magic. Change the lineup. It should have been Wallace, Z/Varaqual/Hickson, James, Williams, and West.
Lastly, the reason the Magic won was because of the extra passes that set up open 3 point shots. This is done by plays, not players running around. Another indication of how coaches can change the outcome of a basketball game. Dissproving your theory.

Why are we talking about basketball? Aside from the fact it is a stupid sport, it has no business being discussed here!

Seems like every year people talk about unity on this team...I hope it's true, I really do, but we'll see...Gotta wait unitl we at least see them at training camp to have any clue...
P.S.- A one man show never wins the NBA title...Jordan couldn't do it...Kobe couldn't...Lebron can't...And I'm not putting him in the other's category...He has to earn that.

As I agree with you, in all honesty, this season hinges on 2 things. We have the team that could have deep playoff potential OR we have a top 5 pick next year...
1) Injuries. You cant predict them, but showing last year, lose 1 major player, and you are up sh** creek without a paddle.
2) Brat's ability to not be predictable. Everyone rails on him, and I agree, but if he can find a playbook and change it up a little and throw things at D's they didnt see coming, we could be really really great. if he plays the same way like the last 2 years, see ya next year.

No worries about Chad, he will be here for mini-camp in just a few weeks - ready to show off the grrrrrrrrreat condition he is in. After he proves to Marvin that he really is in the best shape of his life, it is only a matter of time, before he is our number one guy again. :tiger:
