I was very impressed by Chad's feild goal, you could tell that he has worked hard at it, he should be proud.

We can save some money with Chad. Won't have to sign a K if (when) Shayne does get hurt.

Chad did a great job and showed great confidence.
Shayne also said he was impressed and thought Chad really stepped up.
Nice work Chad!

All joking aside, it's good to know we've got a guy who could do it if we needed him in an emergency. The kick was great and his kickoff wasn't bad by any means, for a WR/emergency kicker. Love the depth!
I was listening to Lance on the way home (I know, I know...I shouldn't) and he was going on and on about how stupid he felt the move was, risking Chad's health by having him kick.
I was like "WTF?". Does Lance not understand the chance of injury relative to a wideout versus a kicker? Granted, the kickoffs are a little riskier as we have seen Shayne make tackles, but...it's freaking football!
Anyone else hear that? Or think we shouldn't have done it? Could Huber have punted the kickoff instead?

Agreed, Chad is more likely to get hurt being tackled rather than kicking a ball of a tee.

And on the kickoff you know Chad isn't going to make much of an effort to make a tackle. After he kicked it he was celebrating his kick; he certainly wasn't running down the field trying to make a stop, even though the KR had gotten to about the 40 yard line. The chances of him getting hurt are pretty slim while kicking a ball. That dude is in the best shape and you know he has strong, durable legs.

I did not get to watch the game, as I live out of market. I was quite amused when I heard about it on ESPN radio this morning. At first, I thought, well at least he did not make an a** of himfelf with some half hearted bungling practice like attempt. After watching the you tube video, I say he looks competent to be at least an emergency kicker. Would like to see some video of him kicking FGs from 35-45 yds, from the hash marks, could use a little more distance on the KO, as well. All in all, I'm fairly impressed.

For those of you in the Columbus area familiar with "The Common Man and The Torg" show on 97.1 The Fan, I just called to say that Chad's extra point was "The Greatest Moment in Sports History" over The Miracle on Ice, The Play (Stanford/Cal) etc...haha
They were not pleased. Biggest Browns homers ever and I love calling in saying silly stuff like this to tick them off.
All joking aside, I think Chad reminded us all last night how fun it can be to have him on our team...

Simmons told Chad to kickoff and get out of the way. They didn't want him trying to tackle anyone.....especially not in a pre-season game.

Smart move by Sims & Chad.
At first I tought it was a silly gimmicky thing that Chad wanted to do, but then I read that Graham has a groin injury.
That makes it even more cool.

After this year, all the Chad Ochocinco haters will be exposed for the miserable people that they are. They will no longer be able to use words like "cancer" or "selfish" when referring to Chad. The man is the ultimate team player and he's having fun doing it, with the Cincinnati Bengals. :tiger: Great PAT and great kick off Chad, my hat goes off to you.

Everyone seems suprised and stuff, that he made good kicks.
Um, didn't he first get his scholarship in SOCCER? I mean, it is well known in the NFL that Chad is a good soccer player, and that he is a big soccer fan (isn't it? I mean, being in Canada, these idiots don't know aything about football. They think they do, but they don't...)

I think Chad did permanent damage to his relationship with the teams fans when he tried to bail out on us a year ago.
I will be able to cheer for him now that he has rededicated him self to football and helps us win.
But I sure don't blame anyone who still dislikes him because of what he did.

I don't know if you've had a chance or not to watch Hard Knocks or any of the pre season games but it looks like Chad has repaired any damage that he caused last year with the team. If the organization, coaches and his teammates are willing to forgiven Chad and embraced him again and move on, then I just don't understand why fans cannot. After all, they depend on him more and are with him more than any fan is.
I personal was down on Chad last year but I never game up on him and now I'm glad to say he's back and maybe better than before and on perhaps a better team.

Marvin told him to get out of the way as soon as he kicked it. That should have ensured he would be OK.

5. NO 'I' IN OCHO: Chad Ochocinco gets so much heat for being a Me Guy, let's hope he gets some credit for his extra-point kick and his kickoff. Yeah, you can say he just wanted to do it to get more attention. But there are also a lot of stars who have had some issues with management (i.e. contract) that would have seen the team in trouble like the Bengals were Thursday night with their kicker and told them, "Child, Please."
He could have protected his $7 million groin, hamstring and whatever else kickers hurt, but he even lobbied to do it and that is refreshing as heck to see a five-time Pro Bowler do that. It also proves how much he simply loves the game.
And in defense of Marvin Lewis for using The Ocho in gambling with his health: The preseason is a run through for the regular season and you may have to use an emergency guy to get through a game and that would have been his guy. And he showed restraint by not letting him kick field goals.

Ocho did a great job, and was a team player that game.... BUT, go back to last year & tell me how he could possibly be called the ultimate team player? The dude was all about himself, didn't lift a single weight to prepare for the season, he was a total joke. This year, I'm personally back to loving the guy. IF, and I mean IF, he has his head into the game and actually more involved in winning than into promoting himself, then yes... he is a hell of a guy to have. I just never would go as far as calling him the ultimate team player. Troy Brown from the Pats a few years ago... He is a hell of a team player. Playing cornerback, offense, whatever u ask of the guy

I think Chad did it for two reasons.
He knew he was pretty good at it.
He got the spotlight on him again. But I give it to him.. this sort of attention seeking I don't mind.
That was something you don't see every day.
And on your comment about Hard Knocks.. I'm not sure what you expect to see from his team mates if they have not forgiven him?
Do you think they'd beat him up in front of the cameras or something?

Watch the comradery between him and his teammates in the lockerroom, their joking and having fun or his talks with Marvin Lewis, their very personal. I think if some of those guys didn't like him they would definatley beat him up, not on camera but on the field, Chris Crocker quickly comes to mind.

I have fallen in love with Chad all over again. After following his Twitter and watching him on UStream and Hard Knocks, this guy is awesome. You can tell he reinvented himself after last season and he has matured as a team player. He will still do all his antics, but that's when he did the best. All those years of leading the AFC in yards he was being Chad. Last year we saw a completely different player and look how poorly he played and how poorly the team played.
There is no one else in the NFL like Chad and I think we are lucky to have such a character on our team. He is one of the best receivers in the league and he is by far the best entertainer.

People forget easy in sports. Chad is too charismatic and fun to not have mass fans. All of us that stuck with him tried to justify what he was doing last year. It's just that way in sports. Heck, Michael Vick did way worse and he will certainly have supporters upon his return. All those steroid baseball guys still have supporters. Cincinnatians still find ways to justify loving Pete. If he played for the Dodgers would be say "Get him in the Hall!". Maybe but we wouldn't be so quick to back him.
Regarding the field goal and kick off, for me that was one of the most exciting Bengals moments I have ever seen. Simply because it was such a surprise and so unexpected. It would be like if the team did an end around and Chris Henry threw a TD pass to Carson Palmer.
