Bring on James Laurinaitis. Wow! This brings back memories; talking about the Draft in October. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the SAME.

We will not take a D player with a top 5 pick Mike Brown will not pay top 5 money to a d player after the bust with wilkinson. If we have a top 5 pick it will be used on a wr or rb I think they will trade it away to around 10-15 pick up an LB or DE 2nd round a DT.

Glenn Dorsey, DT, from LSU... Undoubtedly a top 5 pick.

As much as I like Little Animal, I don't quite think he is a Top 5 pick. If we are in the Top 5 I want Calais Campbell if he is still there, and Dorsey if he's not.

Well we have to look at a few things.. if rudi is truly not capable of being our running back we might have to look at darren mcfadden because we cannot count on chris perry and kenny watson to be our starting backfield...
There will be no linebackers worthy of a top 5 selection... dorsey from lsu is probably the smart pick..
If by chance we really are this bad.. lets shoot for a top 3 pick... hope atlanta has the 5th or 6th pick and then be in the situation to trade the top pick to atlanta for d'angelo hall and their pick because atlanta will go for brohm like no other...It takes a lot to move up from 6 or 7 to get into the top 2 and that would do it...we get another headcase but also a big time corner and then can add another player...
just random thoughts

the way the rest of the season unfolds will be key as well.. if chris perry cannot stay healthy and rudi doesnt return to form, we will need to consider running back in the draft.. theres just no way we can enter next season with kenny irons and kenny watson as our running backs..

Agreed with Peko, I don't know if Dorsey will be such a great player as people are making him out to be. IF we're in the top-5 then we should shoot for Jake Long.

The Bengals need too much help to not trade down.
LB corp needs 2 quality players added.
OL needs quality depth and two future tackles and maybe more.
DL needs someone who will command a consistent double team, otherwise running plays will continue to be one on one blocking on the front 7.
A #3 WR with hands and speed.
A future starter at RB.
A multi-deminsional TE who can block, run routes and catch the ball.
Personally, if I were running the show, I'd try to fill as many of those holes with free agent signings, then draft future starter quality players who provide depth at key positions while they learn.
Things I would not do would be: allow one of my best offensive lineman leave to the Browns, let my best remaining #3 WR sign elsewhere while knowing my other #3 WR option will be banished by the new commish, and drafting yet another 3rd down back high in the draft, drafting a quarterback and then trading another pick for another quarterback. The Bengals don't need a 3rd down back at all, just a future 3 down workhorse replacement for Rudi.
Unless some super stud is available when the Bengals pick, they'll need to trade down for the extra picks. The 2007 team has take 4 steps back and erased pretty much all of the accomplishments of 2005 and 2006.

Nobody is mentioning Chris Long (Howie's son) out of Virginia? He's big enough to be a 3-4 DE. I'm still trying to arrange things so Ahmad Brooks and Robert Geathers can both play in the middle in a 3-4.
Landon and Eric Henderson on the outside and Odell can play anywhere in that scheme.
I'm not sure Peko is big enough to play NT in a 3-4, but he sure has enough fire.
The other DE would be either B Rob, Fanene, or Rucker, although I think Rucker is undersized for a 3-4 lineman.
Until the Chiefs game, I thought that using that high a pick on an o-lineman was out of the question. Now Jake Long has to be considered too.

Peko would probably be an End in a 3-4 defense. We have no one who could play NT and occupy 2 offensive linemen on each play. We have 4 defensive linemen up there now and 1 of the opposing linemen is free to roam against the linebackers. With only 3 linemen, of the bunch we have, the LB's would be eaten up.

Glenn Dorsey, DT, from LSU... Undoubtedly a top 5 pick.Agree with you take Glenn Dorsey if we can defense needs help the most. Then take a DE then a LB then go for offense were never going to be good with no defense.

I really can't decide who to take at this point since both the O line and D line are both in shmbles. It would be tough to chose.
Jake long or Glenn Dorsey.
