All I can figure is he missed a team meeting or something.

They needed his roster spot so they could get Rucker on the 45 man.

I don't really have anything to say to this except "What ya gonna do?"
I guess it's a good dillema to have. I can't think of anyone who dressed yesterday that I think shouldn't have to make room for Leonard unless we had worked Leonard all week at playing TE, which clearly isn't going to happen. I agree that it was probably to make room for Frostee since we needed an additional DE because Odom played both running and passing downs consistently.

Brian Leonard didnt play big deal the bengals put up over 40 points and won big. Take some joy in that unless you are only a Brian Leonard fan.

I read in one of the many articles Geoff wrote that Leonard was inactive so they could have plenty of bodies available on the D-Line due to injuries.

There was concern about dline depth with Peko possibly having the chance to reinjure his knee and/or not being as ready to play as they projected. Also, I think we had every intention of letting Scott get some work, which we did. Plus Jeremi was ready to go as well.
The silver lining in all this is that despite the fact that Scott and Jeremi injured their knees (which aren't believed to be bone bruises, er, serious), that if one of them can't go after the bye against the Ratbirds, Leonard will be 100% ready.
A masterful stroke of roster manipulation, if you ask me.

What was the final score? Apparently the roster that the HC decided on worked out pretty damn well. He did not have Leonard inactive to slight him in anyway or to state that he did not like the way he was playing I am sure. As much as everyone would like to think that they know what is best for this team and roster I am sure that the HC and the staff has just a tad bit better insight into these things than this message board does.
I huge win like we had and there still must be something to gripe about I guess.

Leonard is on Bengals Line and said he'll be ready to go for Baltimore. My guess is he probably could have played if necessary, but why risk making the groin injury worse, the week before the bye?

As for the OP, at least Rucker cashed in on the opportunity he was given with Leonard's spot.

I agree with this statement. It protected someone who's been HUGE for this team from aggrevating or worsening a groin injury (those can be bad!) and allowed us to see what Scott could do, even though that didn't exactly go as planned while keeping an extra DL active in the event we needed the extra help.
Great job Mr. Lewis! Keep up the great work!

im on page with you brian leonard has been key. but he was a little banged up (can play doesnt mean 100%) so they gave him a rest as a side result B Scott got more reps than usualy and benson got to be an every down back (did we have 3rd downs?)
i also so a couple full house packages which could have been a result of leonard not being active.
Did anyone notice that nelson got a decent amount of snaps and did not have a negative play against him ( i did) Same with Trent i didnt like this pick but the kid can play and has some speed // also big on ST's
hopefully jeremi gets rested up hes been big for us but i could think of worst things than getting pressley in there

OSU FAN might seem angry but think about this
we won 45 - 10 and someone is complaining that B Leonard didnt get to play
now if we lost do to poor 3rd down converting it would be a legit complaint. and a questionable coaching call. but we didnt loss we won bigger than any game that hes played in.
so if it isnt worth getting aggervated by (to org poster) then why worry about it

Again I don't think anyone was complaining and I think OSUfan was a bit off base there. I think the OP and the #2 post were guys that were basically confused as to what Marvin meant in his press conference and why B.Leonard was out if he was healthy.
I can see how it can be confusing but if you decifer what Marvin said he basically tells you the answer.

How about the huge risk we took having no additional RB to back up and spell Ced after Scott and JJ went down. There is a reason why we normally take three into a game and a fullback.

Legit criticism of the team is one thing...being buried in the 1990's and therefore unable to even enjoy the games anymore (as well as the teams' recent success) is another entirely.

Well, then I would have to assume that this was a decision that was weighed heavily by the coaching staff prior to making it and that they felt that with the recent groin injury and the injuries that were plaguing other areas of this team that it was absolutely a risk worth taking.

No, Storm gave up the Barry crusade after Mike Brown's comments during mid-season last year. He was really upset over them and admitted that it was fake. It was hilarious, there were some people who were really angry because they thought Barry was a real person and they felt betrayed because there was no ultimate homer.

No football common sense. Sure we love our team. That doesn't make it a perfect team. Ask Marvin even after that big win they felt like there was alot of things that needed to be worked on. If Marvin can admit it why can't we as fans talk about what we think went wrong even when things went so right?

Someone made a 7-8-1 thread after the Eagles game. That was a truly great thread.

Hopefully Maulauga has Ben's number. I'd like to see the raping go the other way...again...
Too bad Odom's hurt. Would love to see him fold Ben over in the backfield.

So does anyone know if Leonard will be able to face the Ravens on 11/8? I would like to know. We sure need all the help we can get after the bye. That's for sure.

Yeah I could and as well could probably asked for your advice if I thought it necessary. Sorry, I find griping about the roster that was put together that played virtually a flawless game as a bit nit picky, but just have to call them as I see them.
Wasn't complaining at all. I'm just confused.

I don't see why not if he was officially proclaimed healthy to play against the Bears, but we adjusted the roster. I don't think we need to overestimate this guy's importance to the offense. We all like him and he can block, catch and run (and make gutsy plays). but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. He's a cog in the machine, nothing more.
An important cog, but it isn't like we cannot win without him.
He'll be as healthy as a raging bull in Pamplona come Ravens week, I don't know why anyone would worry.

Don't mind him. He is a bit jumpy for some reason.

I don't get why we didn't have 3 rb's on gameday. Should always have 3 in case of an injury which is what happened to B Scott. That put not only our number one rb out there when he shouldnt have been, but one of the leagues best rb's out there during garbage time. I was dreading seeing Cedric run when there was no chance for the Bears to come back.

I was wincing too. But imagine for one second if Frostee was not out there. Would we have gotten the same pressure. We needed that extra guy. Plus I noticed that Tom Nelson got valuable minutes for us for the first time this year. We need him to get experience. He is one of our most athletic DBs. Plus Leonard needs his rest. We will need him 100% after the bye.

Negative Private Pyle, think about the injuries to the defensive line...we needed to backup Peko just in case...and we were down a DE....if that meant a less than healthy Leonard didn't dress, then so be it....we needed the spot along the dline....

The Coaches must have seen how Hungry Rucker was. He was possessed.

Where in the hell has that guy been, anyway? If he isn't injured, he isn't playing, but on the rare occaisions he does play...he produces!
