I am actually losing post counts.....whats up with that? I had over 1100 last week and now I'm at 1077. Not that its a big deal, but I just noticed it. Am I being punished for something?

Whoops, I posted this in the wrong forum.....

All posts in a thread that was deleted are removed from your post count, that is most likely the cause.

Oh, I see. So if a tool starts a thread and he's probably going to get banned, one should just ignore him, right?

I bumped the Turk HOTD for his birthday and I was told that it got deleted because of the "bump".

I think we both had a lot of posts in it because my post count is down, too.

Speaking of, I think it's your turn to post HOTD...

I noticed it too. I lost probably close to 15 post counts between yesterday and today. Who knows why? A bug in the software, an admin with issues, a thread that got deleted? Who knows, it's not all about post count anyway. If I hadn't lost my first two names during board changes, I would have well over 2000, so at this point, I'm like whateva.

not sure if threads that get deleted makes one lose post counts or not.....but i'll look into it for you...if it does, then everyone in that thread is in the same boat anyway.

now about rep points, that one is a new one i'll look into that also.

give me your old names and i'll see if i can find them and i can merge your accounts so your post count goes back up.

i did some research and testing today, when topics get deleted you lose post counts if you had posts in those threads....but as far as rep points, they don't change.

hope that helps

I had some taken away from me .

I dont know exactly how it happened , but it did.

I spoke with EricW about it.

Its no big deal , I was just wondering how or why it happens.

The positive Rep came from a thread where a several posts were deleted.
And he gave me Rep before the posts were deleted and before he was recently banned.

Ask Eric about it.

This has been happening alot over the past few weeks.
Atleast 4 different times I have been several over 2, 800 posts and then it goes back down. By like 25-50 posts each time.
I know there have been alot of junk threads and stuff has been deleted.
But I havent been posting in those.
Im guessing this is around 100 posts I have lost.
I had just made it last week back up to 2,840 something and now a week later its back down to 2,790. I know I havent posted THAT much in one thread.
No big deal really. I dont care either way. Its just a number.
I was just wondering if this was the reason I was losing them.
Just curious as to what kind of threads are being deleted so I can avoid posting in them. Or make sure Im not posting things Im not supposed to.
Thanks.

Post counts are silly. Guys, just post and have fun and do not worry about some silly number next to your name.

I wasn't losing sleep over some silly number David, I was just curious. Why do you find it necessary to talk down to message board members?

I don't think it is talking down. I am making a point that post counts are pointless. The only way you can see that as talking down is if you value post counts enough to make it a reason to post.

People on here need to worry a lot less about their post counts and a lot more about the quality of the post. If it were up to me the post counts would be completely removed leaving only the date someone signed up.

Post counts go to peoples heads on these boards, people rushing to get to 5000 so they can have a thread, people getting banned sending very nasty PMs arguing about how they deserve higher post counts. It is an absolute joke.

If post counts are that important to some people than they are on the boards for the wrong reason. In my post I never once called a member a name, or talked down to them, I simply said the post counts are silly, not to worry about them and to post and have fun. If you see that as posting down to the members then maybe the post counts mean more to you than you are letting on.

I didn't mean just in your comment here, I could list a whole slew of quotes from you over the past week where you've called people names such as 'moron', 'tool'...asking them if they're 4 yrs old, etc... I understand completely that things get out of hand around here at times and, yes, people don't always act their age, but I don't know why you, as an administrator, find it necessary to bash someone in every other post. Thats all. I'm pretty sure you'll try and make me out to be a moron too (you've already implied that I care so deeply for post counts....don't think so David, I've been here almost 2 yrs) for when all I'm doing is basically stating a simple observation.

I am pretty sure they do not "RUSH" to get 5000 just to have a silly thread. But as a member that just had my 5000 post...when you reach that milestone is fun to have a little "post party thread" Just another way to show just how active we are on the boards.

Is it something I stress over, no it is not. But at the same time I remember my first ever post so it is nice to see how far I have come.
