should i start chris jennings or cedric
i know the usual start is cedric, by a ton, but jennings lit it up FF wise last week and he's playing the chiefs...the matchup might be making me overlook that he is a brown and not a good brown either

We should have beat them easily. Our defense is so soft, today made me realize just why we're ranked at the bottom of the nation in rush defense. We let a freshman QB completely take over the game, it was stupid.
That 4 play stand at the 1 that Wyoming had was the worst, I literally fell to my knees when Mathews didn't get in. Flat out garbage.

I believe everyone saying that Fresno would beat them easily is why it didn't happen. I believe Yahoo ranked the bowl games in order of who should win there's and I believe Fresno was the only rated in the 90 percent range. Nobody thought Wyoming would win. The commentators pointed out that Wyoming came out to the field fired up and Fresno seemed to act like they had it in the bag. I will say this, with a Freshman QB like that, looks like Wyoming has a promising future.

The commentators were right. This team got what it deserved. We always play down to our competition, and it ticks me off. We go neck to neck with Cincy, Wisconsin, Boise, but somehow we lose to a bunch of garbage teams, it's dumb.
The QB play by the freshman was great, he didn't really throw the ball a whole lot, he did his damage running. The one things I will point out, not to bring down his skill, but that won't cut it in the Mountain West.

Wyoming is implementing the Spread offense. This is their HC's first year, he was the OC at Missouri. That O will work when they can get their recruiting classes in there and use them correctly. We've seen what Utah has done with the Spread in the Mountain West. The biggest problem for them is they're not in the best recruiting region.

I think what will help is the new offense. Some players just look better in the Spread. I believe Utah was the only one in the Mountain West to run it, now other recruits can go to a different school and have a better shot at starting.
Anyways, this is another bad shot for the WAC. Once again, it makes the Mountain West look superior and possibly lead to Boise leaving.

Nope, there has to be some logical geography for the conference. Obviously with no PAC 10 expansions planned, their best/only hope is the Mountain West.

Pretty much, but there is some hope. There are/was rumors that the Mountain West wanted to become a BCS conference. For them, they would need to expand to a 12 team conference and have a championship. The Mountain West is currently sitting at 9 teams, and the three teams that were viewed as potential members were/are Boise, Nevada, and Fresno.

Well you would have:
San Jose State
Utah State
Idaho
New Mexico State
Hawaii
Louisiana Tech
Obviously some moving around would have to happen. I know that the Sun Belt was an 8 team conference for a little bit. There's a conference in I-AA called the Great West. It's one conference, but their football and basketball dvisions don't look the same at all. They could try to bring UC-Davis and Cal Poly up. I don't know if they'd have to wait like Florida Atlantic, Florida International, and Western Kentucky had to do when they moved to the Sun Belt. The University of San Diego is also pretty good and they are in a random conference, the Pioneer League, where the closest team is in Iowa. I'm sure it'd probably be renamed. Then there's always the fear of LA Tech leaving. I feel that they're just waiting for a C-USA spot to open up and they're gone.

The WAC would really suffer for a while if Fresno, Boise and Nevada were to leave. The Mountain West would be a complete conference with them in the mix though. You'd have so many teams that would be up there to compete for a title every year. BYU, TCU, Utah, Boise, Fresno and Nevada would be strong contenders every year.

I have a feeling that the NCAA would allow the WAC to operate at that level for one year and then all the others would move in after an independant year. I'm pretty sure the Humanitarian Bowl would stay with the rumor that it's going to become a WAC vs. Mountain West bowl. Although I'm pretty sure that there would be no hope of getting anymore bowl games. I know the WAC has 2 or 3 tie ins with other bowls, but I'm pretty sure those would be severed.
The Mountain West would become a dominant conference. Look at the players they recruit now compared to what they could get if they became a BCS conference. They could become one of the best. The history may not be there, but the talent would be.

The WAC bowl lineup is becoming confusing. From what I know, the Humanitarian is for the champ, the Hawaii Bowl is for the 2nd place team (or Hawaii if they have a winning record), and the New Mexico is for 3rd place.
If someone goes to the BCS, then everyone just moves up one notch. Well Nevada is going to Hawaii, which I'm guessing is the new #1 bowl. You guys would technically be #2 and you went to the New Mexico Bowl. Idaho moved up to #3 and they're playing in the Humanitarian.

Nevada is a toss up. June Jones is the SMU coach so he obviously knows how Nevada operates. One of the RBs, Vai Taua, has been ruled inelgibile for the game. Idaho doesn't have to travel far, but this is their first bowl game in a looooooooooong time. Bowling Green is going to be a tough team to play, especially with Freddie Barnes. We know that Boise has to be motivated for this. Everyone is saying that TCU is the complete team and people pretty much keep knocking Boise.
I've been meaning to watch the PC of San Jose's new coach. I have no clue about this guy. What's the feeling of Pat Hill right now? I know the commentators made comments about part of the fan base growing tired of him.

We actually just gave Pat Hill a 3 year extension this past week.
A lot of fans want him to be gone as quick as possible. I think people are growing tired of him focusing on out of conference teams rather than trying to win a WAC title. He hasn't won one since he's been here (He's had a share) but nobody really counts it around here.
I personally hate the fact that under Hill, we have yet to finish off a season on a good note. We always start off strong, and we tend to slide at the end of the season. I would actually like us to take the route of Boise State and not schedule so many highly ranked teams. I think we should focus on winning a WAC title rather than playing big name schools.

That's definitely a smart route to go. Just book one major team and run the table in the conference. That's how Boise became the WAC. I was looking at some future conference schedules and noticed that Boise is scheduled to play a Mountain West team for the next seasons.:hmm:
So is there a chance for Fresno next season? Are you losing anyone critical? Besides the potential loss of of Matthews.

I would love to see Boise go up against a strong MW team in the regular season.
It doesn't look great for us at all. We're losing 3 backs (I'm assuming Matthews declares), we're losing 3 of our starting receivers, and we're looking at another season behind Ryan Colburn. The plans are to redshirt Derek Carr next season so we could get 3 full seasons from him, so the future could be bright if we recruit well.
We're also losing a couple players on defense, so we're just going to get worse than we already are on that side of the ball.
How about SJS?

Well it's easy to say that we're ****** and in for the long road, but I have no idea with McIntyre in charge now. We're losing a lot of good players on D right now and our O looks like garbage. I don't know which of our WRs are staying, but it doesn't look good. We need a freaking QB. I'm not crazy about La Secla and I'm glad Reed is gone. I know we got praise for some of our recruiting last year, but those were Tomey picks, we'll see what McIntyre does.
If our future schedule is correct, then our out of conference schedule is going to be a long road.<_<
I won't be surprised to see us go sub .500 next year.

Ok, the Bengals are doing pretty much what I expected at the beginning
Be able to beat the above average or worse teams, with one shocking loss and lose to the upper echelon teams because we aren't THERE yet. I thought 8-8 or 9-7, so unless there is a monumental fall, we should finish better than expected. But this game and last week show that we are THERE. However, we can definitely compete and have the chance to win them.

Yeah very tough loss. Oh well at least they will get in the playoffs well hopefully. They are going to get creamed in the playoffs but at least it will be an improvement from last year.
Good foundation to build upon. Rodgers looked good today.

Yeah but not like it matters. We will be one and done anyway playing Az or Philly. The Cardinals or Eagles will probably tear us apart.

I wouldn't say that,I could very well see you guys tearing it up in the playoffs. No matter what I like Rodgers,he is tough, and has showed it all season long.

Nah there is no way we ever beat the Vikings or the Saints. Vikings already beat us twice and Favre would destroy us again most likely. At best I see us getting to the 2nd round but getting creamed by the Vikes.

The past two weeks have definitely shown who we are.

I think one of the key things I've learned over the past few weeks is just how key safeties are to Zimmer's scheme. I'm convinced one of the big reasons Leon looked so bad today (besides having to defend against talented, monster-sized receivers) was that safeties who were supposed to be in place behind him weren't there. Instead of being where they were supposed to be, they got drawn off by some of these complicated routes. That's why Z insisted on experienced FA safeties like Crocker and Williams. Since he seems to prize experience back there, they may not draft a first day pick at safety. They will definitely look for one in the draft, though, due to the lack of depth.
Are there any decent jouneyman safety FAs out there?

I wouldn't be surprised to see us re-sign Roy and then draft a 1st round safety to groom behind him. I know that Eric Berry will be taken in the top 5, but I wouldn't mind taking someone like TJ Ward from Oregon.
As for FAs, I have no clue. I'm not sure who will be FAs after this season with the crazy non-CBA format. I could see us bringing back Mike Doss for depth.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see us draft a Safety in the 1st or 2nd round. I'm just thinking about what Zimmer might do (if he is still here <_<). How great would it be if we found the next Ed Reed to play FS for us?

How about Cribbs today? What does it take for teams to learn "Don't kick to this guy!"
Big Ben threw for 503! Holy cow! Didn't know he had it in him.
Madieu got his butt handed to him both in coverage and in trying to stop Stewart. Don't miss him.

They need to sign Cribbs to a lifetime contract. He's been the best thing for them since they came back into the league.
That Pitt game was insane.
I miss the Madieu from 04-05.

What do you think about Odom and Geathers' future with the team? Odom appears to be injury prone, but I can't see them letting him go after what he showed this year. Geathers.... well, I don't know. Lot of money.

Odom looked pretty good and I think a rotation of him and MJ could work. Geathers does get pressure, but that's about it. There are times he just seems to take himself out of the play. I think we'll hang onto him until his deal is up. Don't see them giving up on him. I know he makes a lot, but with no cap next season, I don't see us caring about big deals.

We started off fast and then slumped down in the middle of the game. We got our fire back towards the end, but came up short. We tied the game with about a minute to go. Then they drove down and kicked a 52 yard field goal to win the game. Our D was pretty bad today.

That is a tough way to lose too. I know and feel your pain today. At least my fantasy team is up 99-63 and he has Jason Campbell and Fred Davis going tommorow night so I am 90% sure I have the game won. This is the first round of the playoffs too so if I win I go to the championship game.

A big play by their D on our last O drive and poor clock management killed us. We were chasing them most of the game, though.

To lose like we did on the last play of the game really rips your heart out though. Yes BD I know what you mean on how the division is there for the taking. KC should be a win though and you have the division title.

I think his old injury is still sorta nagging, so they don't give him too many snaps. They might be restng him, but still giving him some time

Man what a frustrating way to lose. 3rd quarter, it looked like the game was about to go downhill for the team, then we rally, start moving the ball late in the game and end up having the most ridiculous fumble ever. I get my hopes up that we will win, and then they crush em :frown:

I think the game show'd we are the same caliber of team as the chargers.. the penalties hurt us but didnt kill us this game. we competed with one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now. and almost won while waking up our passing game...

I agree, it was encouraging as far as the playoffs are concerned. Espically to see us air out the ball effectively. FBs and TEs even were about to pull in receptions, amazing!!
Its so frustrating the way this team shoots themselves in the foot with penalties and fumbles, etc. If we cut those in half, we would smoke teams.
Hopefully we control the game next week, put KC away, get that division title and start gearing up for the playoffs.
