I know that the coaches had a last say in what was aired on Hard Knocks. It makes me wonder if they asked Mike Brown if it was okay that they air that or if Marvin got it in there to show what he has to deal with.
There's some speculation that they had such a rash of injuries at TE in such a short period of time that they may have been scrambling just to find someone to play the role of a TE just for the sake of practice, not necessarily as a long-term solution. Furthermore, the player in question was a DE, not a punter. If this is accurate, I could see where they might not think twice about allowing it to air, not thinking that some of out more jaded fans might take it out of context.

Well, in any event, you don't move a DE to TE just because "he's fast". The point is Mike Brown is a clueless football owner.

ohhh wow this arguement... Well heres the deal at that point we only had an injured chase coffman and dan coats to take TE reps... so if you can move a guy over to take some snaps to give those 2 a rest then its a good idea... its like needing a FB to take reps this year so they had Skuta come from the LBer spot to take reps at FB so the team can practice without killing anyone...

Sherry was signed the day after Kelly was placed on IR, but Foschi & Kapanui weren't signed until 11 days after Sherry (who eventually got hurt as well, though I don't know when). Again, the Harrington scenario was quite possibly just a consideration to buy time to scour the available FAs or wait to see who would become available. Of course, why they even felt that discussion was worth airing in any scenario is beyond me.

Do you think she'll be like her dad when she takes over or do you think she'll do things differently?

She is the one who pushed for Marvin, right? While her dad was in favor of Tom Coughlin.

I wish I could say for certain. The biggest difference I could tell between the two is that she's more outgoing, albeit in a professional manner. That could also be due to her father's age. Both were extremely kind and respectful towards us (as was everyone throughout the organization), but Katie took a little more time to speak with us (and Troy even more than Katie).

The Blackburns appear to be quite intelligent, business savvy and confident. Obviously, that doesn't necessarily translate success running a football team. If they were that competent in doing so, I think we'd see better results than we have out of this franchise because they most definitely have input on Mike Brown's decisions.

So, I'm not entirely confident that she would do things much differently. I wouldn't rule out her bringing in a GM, though. I don't believe she's as out of touch about the gravity of the franchise's failures as her father is. That's not to say that I think he doesn't care if they win or lose, but he seems to simply be more stubborn and set in his ways, either refusing to consider or even entertain an alternative approach to the business.

This is all speculation on my part, however. Probably even wishful thinking in some cases. I am grateful to the family for the privileges that I have benefited from and I hope they ultimately get to share winning a Lombardi Trophy together, but that doesn't mean I'll turn a blind eye to their role in the franchise's lack of success and I understand the fans' criticism of them. I've been that fan. I am that fan, even if I don't express it as much or quite the same way as I used to out of respect for the role I've been awarded here.

I was curious because of all the things we've heard and seen about Katie. As far as I know, she was the one who got Marvin to come here. Marvin really got the fans to think things would improve and I know that got Katie's popularity to go up. There was a rumor going around, a while back, that Katie would bring in a GM to run the football side of our team. Obviously things went downhill towards her after the Dallas incident and the Andre soap opera on HK.

My fear of the situation would be Mike Brown hanging around as long as possible and letting Katie become more stubborn, like him. Then we go through the same song and dance with an owner who thinks they can run the football operations when it's clear that they need to hand the power over.

I would be interested in seeing how much of a role she plays in getting our next head coach.

People obviously had fun with it switching out run for ruin.

And Bernard Scott finishes the game with highest YPC average in NFL history. 98.7 YPC on 27 carries.

QB rating of 159.05 for 2082 yards. 19 TDs and 4 INTs. 589 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs. At least the Hokies are good. Stupid Bengals. Lmao.

No joke. I just dont want to see him go to Cle, Bal, or Pitt. And I would take a lot of our players over Bengals. We had an O lineman play with the top section of his finger ripped off. They found it in his glove. Told him he could come out and they could perform the surgery or they could try it after. He stayed in the game and helped us pull out a W. Now thats awesome. They re attached his finger after the game.

I'm not so sure. I guess we will find out. I think if he comes out he wont go as high as he should so we could get him in the 2nd or 3rd round as a steal. Every time I see him run I say that is an NFL back. He can do it all. Did you see him bust off like a 65 yarder vs Miami? Man he is sick.

Yeah, who knows what we will do this offseason. I wouldnt mind keeping Benson either. People are down on him for the fumbles but he hasnt had that issue before. He needs to work on whatever he changed or other teams picked up on.

I just don['t think he'll be able to go on long enough. Let him go now and continue with Scott + a possible draft pick...or Ryan Williams :ninja:

I dont think Scott can handle the load though. He seems to be injury prone and doesnt even get that many carries. But yeah Williams > Benson or Scott

He'll probably play well towards the end of the year. Then we'll consider him for the future and ignore safety in the offseason. Then he'll stink in 2011 and we'll just do another collective sigh.

Coyle has been handed some tough situations with safety. If he gets a playmaker and does nothing with him, then he can get the boot. One thing that's funny to me is that I remember hearing that Madieu Williams was good his rookie year. Well I was watching some 2004 highlights the other day and Madieu was terrible every time I saw him. I know he did good in the first four games of 05 before the injury, but then he went downhill.

I'm assuming he's talking about the report from Joe Reedy on Twitter that Marvin was going to challenge but couldn't find his red flag. In the postgame, Reedy has since retracted the report after being informed that Marvin was told by coaches not to challenge.

I actually think it did hit Caldwell, but that it should have been challenged. It was just such a critical play and the replays didn't seem to clearly prove it one way or the other. Maybe they catch a break, even though it was ruled a muffed punt on the field.

Of course, maybe he really couldn't find the flag and they were covering his ***.

Man, this team is such a mess. With all the crap I have seen Marvin challenge like the Colts pass to Tamme for a first down. I mean that one was obvious to anyone watching the game. I've seen Fairley pegged as a 3-4 end. So if we made the switch, he could make the transition, but I'd rather keep the 4-3 if we take him. Green would be an amazing pick, but we need to make sure we have an OL that will give our QB time to throw to him.
