Anybody here get a chance to hear the Ahmad Brooks interview on sirius?
One thing that stuck out is they asked about him playing inside or outside depending on the Odell situation. He said playing linebacker is playing linebacker, i'm still going to hit poeple and intimidate them.
Opposing fans here like to say he's dim-witted and wont make a difference. But its just like Richard Pryor said "you don't have to be no entomologist to be the champ, people ask you what you do & you say:...i knock people out."

thats what it will be like this season, just replace spinks with brooks, the forest with hines field, and the animals with all the steeler fans on this board

The only difference is....in Heinz field, the animals hit back. [:P]
And....in all the years I've been watching football, I've never heard anyone - at any time, for any reason - say that anyone on your defense intimidated anybody.

What?? bill bergy, tim krumrie, takeo spikes, The Swat Team??? We've had some good defenses before, as soon as you admit to being a closet Bengal fan you can admit that to yourself.
All signs are pointing to Brooks being a force in the middle, he'll be feared for that reason. Plus, when odell comes back (knock on wood) we'll have, as solomon wilcots puts it, "a wicked tackler"

What signs are those? He didn't exactly light the world on fire last year. Or are you referring to a Sirius interview stating he doesn't care where he plays LB'er? I think it's very safe to say the jury is still way out on whether this kid will be a good player or not. There definitely haven't been any "signs" in his favor.

Last year he came out a year early, in the supplemental draft, after being away from football for almost an entire season. came in and had a lot of learning and growing up to do but showed a huge amount of talent. As far as what he's done to show he'll be a good player, he was player of the year in highschool and college if i remember correctly. He had i believe 8 sacks his one full year as a starter, thats very good for a MLB. Did you happen to see the play where he blitzed right through the A gap and almost stole the exchange from jake delhomme when we played Carolina?
He also posted 14 tackles when we played Tampa bay.
All the buzz so far is the has a good head on his shoulders now and is ready to be the player that he can be.

Never heard of them....they must not have been very good. No rings and they're not in the HoF.
Nice try though.
But if you want to talk intimidating defenders: Rod Woodson, Mel Blount, Jack Lambert, Joe Greene, Jack Ham, Kevin Greene, Greg Lloyd, Troy Polamalu and even the most recently departed Joey "Where are my dogs at? No, I mean it....has anyone seen my dogs?" Porter. It seems that Pittsburgh always has intimidating, hard hitting people on defense.
As to Brooks being a force in the middle....I haven't seen any signs of that. How can we? They haven't even had training camp yet.
The weakness of your D is not in it's players, it's in the lack of fundementals, and your passiveness as well as your lack of discipline the players not trusting one another.
And your DC....who, despite one of the best O's in the league, refuses to gamble a bit on the defensive side.

C'mon you wish you had this hoss blocking for you. He could've been a stud, last I heard though he had some parasites....something about a redhead...didn't really get it all that much.
Played FB and scored 4 TDs in ONE GAME for Polk High. You just can't do that and not play in the bigs.
Legend says he even slapped his coach and took over the team when the coach wanted to give up late in a game when they were trailing.

Let's put it this way....If I were to name the greatest defensive players of all time, you'd read names like Butkis, Lambert, Ted Hendrixs, Ray Nitschke, Ronnie Lott, etc. Takeo Spikes would never come to mind.
Of course, I don't think Deion Sanders was that great at CB....he couldn't tackle. Catch the ball in front of him and run him over. Rod Woodson? Now there's a guy that can bring the wood!
I'm sure he stood out on the Bengals, but were he a Steeler - he'd be just another LB.

Normally you make fairly thought out comments but this one was not.
In his 5 years with the Bengals Takeo never went below triple digits in tackles, but enough words here's undisputable numbers:
5 years: 569 tackles 14.5 sacks 5 INTs 13 passes defensed 6 forced fumbles 11 fumble recoveries
2 defensive touchdowns
Takeo was the type of LB who liked to wet his beak in every category on the stat sheet, that
type of player is rare

Actually i think he'll be better known as Ahmad "boom-boom" Brooks, that will do nicely.
Point be made he had a lot of growing up and learning to do after coming in so quickly and being away from football so long. Make light of his meager 31 tackles and 1 sack all you want, it will make it evan sweeter around here when he's crashing through your A gap.

Nublet, heh very amusing coming from someone I've been taking to the woodshed since you registered. I thought you said your defense was the main reason you've had an 8-8 record twice in the past three years. I mean you specifically stated that was the reason Carson can't get you guys to the playoffs. So which is it, is Carson not that good or is your defense not that good? Or does it depend on which thread your spouting off in at the time?

Keep your useless innuendos to yourself. I talk about the A gap becuase it's important. When you get right down to it it's the most important part of the football field. A team who owns the A gap owns it's destiny.

Yeah, I heard he had quite a game against the Sheboygan Sugar Bears.

You'll please excuse me if I don't cower in fear of the Bengals defense.
You're excused nublet, you just forgot that defense intercepted your boy 4 times last year
At least HE knows how to use the "Quote" button, nubcake.

You'll please excuse me if I don't cower in fear of the Bengals defense.
No...but you soon will! Let just say we picked up a couple of snot bubbler type players.
