From ESPN.com
The San Diego Chargers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=sdg) selected Georgia cornerback Paul Oliver in the fourth-round of the supplemental draft.
In doing so, the Chargers will give up a fourth-round choice in next year's draft. Oliver left Georgia early because of grade problems. He was expected to be one of the top corners in the 2008 draft.
His recent 40 time in the high 4.5s may have scared away a couple of teams, but the Chargers were looking for depth at the cornerback position. Starting cornerback Drayton Florence (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6382) is a free agent after this season. Oliver would have the chance to learn cornerback and maybe help in the nickel pass defense over the next couple of years.
The Chargers liked the player skills. They recently did a background check and liked what they learned.
The Baltimore Ravens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=bal) selected Maryland tackle Jared Gaither in the fifth-round of Thursday's supplemental draft.
The Ravens worked him out right before the draft. They liked his size and speed. He's close to 6-9 and 325 pounds. He ran well at a workout Tuesday, timing around five seconds.

I was hoping for Oliver or Gaither. Those are pretty low draft picks, I wonder if we put a bid in at all.

I really hate seeing the ravens get Gaithers.

As a University of Tennessee fan I'm glad to see Oliver leave Georgia. He may not develope into a great NFL player, but he was one of the better DBs for the Bulldogs.

I really wanted Gaither. I know Willie is signed for 3 or 4 more years, but that doesn't mean he will last that long. I'm also concerned with levi having TWO knee operations in tha last year. However for now I will choose to look on the bright side and assume that our passing on Gaither means that Kieft is looking healthy.
