first round - Calais Cambell
2nd Round - Chris Long
3rd round - Vince Hall or Wesley Woodyard or both with extra 3rd round we might get
4th Round - J. Leman
And in offseason, fire Chuck B., bring in young hungry defensive cord.
Bring in Lance Briggs, & Karlos Dansby...
Now that would be one heck of a draft and offseason!

C'mon guys, you've got to at least try to pick guys who might actually be available in each round even if we are only dreaming.
Round One: Chris Long, DE, Virginia (6'4 280, big enough for 3-4 or 4-3)
Round Two: Fred Davis, TE, USC (possible violation of my rule above for round two)
Round Three: Xavier Adibi, LB, Va Tech (or his teammate Vince Hall if he's still on the board) or Phillip Wheeler, LB, Ga Tech who will also probably be gone before Rd 3.
Round Four: Justin Forsett, TB, Cal (insurance for Kenny Irons)
I'd also like to see us grab Haruki Nakamura from UC to use as a gunner on special teams. He can definitely hit and tackle and would be a back-up CB/FS.

I think Laurenitus would bring a young, healthy, hungry feel to the defense...

Did 7 Rounds, -Steinbach Conditional pick.
1. Chris Long, DE, Virgina. An elite combonation of Ahtleticism, Instincts and, more importantly, INTANGIBLES.
2. Andre Fluellen, DT, Texas A&M. A DT/NT who has played consistanyly well and should be avalibile in the second.
3. Chris Horton, S, UCLA. A nice, DURABLE, Safety. In 2006, he took virtually every defensive snap, forced two fumbles, three interceptions and an average of 7.31 Tackles a Game.
4. Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy. Beast on special teams, I tell ya. BEAST. 10 Career Punt/Kick returns for TDs, I believe.
5. Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh(Urk). Average OT who was looking like a good prospect as a Junior, but dropped when he stayed for his Senior year due to much better competition.
6. Andy Studebaker, OLB, Wheaton. Runs fast and with a little bit of coaching, could be the sleeper pick of the year.
7. Al Phillips, CB, Wagner. A nice addition as a Nickel/Dime CB who can help us with his nice INTs. Pretty good for a 7th, eh?

Chris Long will go very early. I'm cheering for Atlanta and Oakland and Miami to get some wins. Although two of those clubs will need QB's, so I guess they're unlikely to steal Chris Long from us.
Thanks for the small school prospects, Ruki. I'll try to check'em out if there's an oddball game on cable.
I'm sure every team has some lesser-known propsects who they don't even want invited to the combine so they stay under the radar.

I am assuming that we will pick in the 5-10 range, so here it goes. First, I would trade our 1st round pick down so we can have 2 2nd rounders. Also, I am assuming we get another 3rd round pick for Steiny.
Round 1 - Keith Rivers - LB - USC - With all the injuries and question surrounding our LB (Pollack, Thurman, will Landon re-sign) I think LB is a 1st round priority for us.
Round 2 - Kentwan Balmer - DT - North Carolina - He has pretty good size (6-4, 295) and athleticism and could be a guy who comes in as a rookie and makes a difference.
Round 2 - Vernon Gholston - DE - Ohio State - (if he declares) - Gholston has been very impressive this year and has look unblockable at times.
Round 3 - Kellen Davis - TE - Michigan State - Davis is a big pass catching TE that we have needed for some time.
Round 3 - Barry Richardson - OT - Clemson - With Willie getting older, and Stacy Andrews a FA at the end of the season, we need someone to protect Carson.
Round 4 - J Lehman - LB - Illinois - Lehman is not the fastest or most athletic guy, but he has great instincts, plays with a lot of passion, and is a very strong tackler.

it's impossible to determine durability....chris perry who is referred to as glass man on this board was the ultimate durable guy at michigan...never hurt, lots of carries, great motor
