comment on my prediction and make one for your own team
Week 1 Ravens-Willis Mcgahee's AFCN debut. Ravens defense is jacked up, Bengals lose a
close one.
Ravens 21 Bengals 17
Week 2 @ Browns-No description needed, Bengals squish Browns. Kenny Irons breaks some
nice runs up the sideline.
Bengals 28 Browns 13
Week 3 @ Seattle-Alexander runs strong. Ahmad Brooks has break out game with double
digit tackles and a FF. Game comes down to the wire, Shane's foot wins it.
Bengals 31 Seattle 28
Week 4 Patriots-I hate the Pats. Its closer than it was last year but we still get spanked. God i hate
the Patriots.
Patriots 34 Bengals 24
Week 5 @ Chiefs-Larry Johnson's first game back after holdout:) The team isn't much different
than last year when we beat them last year. This is one of those games where
defense shows whats capable of. LJ held to less than 60 yards.
Bengals 24 Chiefs 13
Week 6 Jets-Chad Pennington's out, Jets stink. Their defense plays tough but our Rudi/Kenny
combo has been lethal all year. Carson Chad and TJ pick on Revis all day.
Bengals 21 Jets 14
Week 7 Steelers-A battle of field position becomes the break out game for our defense. J.J.,
Deltha and Leon blanket the Steelers new "wide open offense" and Brooks
collapses the pocket on Ben. Bengals finally beat Steelers at home.
Bengals 20 Steelers 13
Week 8 @Bills-Why do we never seem to beat the Bills??
Bills 24 Bengals 21
Week 9 @Ravens-Chris Henry comes back in a limited role, Odell Thurman starts a heavy rotation of domination. Just like last year's second outing the defense shows a
little more of what it can do. Mcgahee is shut down and Geathers, Jeanty and
Brooks tee-off on Mcnair
Bengals 17 Ravens 10
Week 10 @Cardinals-Its the Cardinals...sure our secondary has its hands full but it's the Cardinals.
Bengals 34 Cardinals 17
Week 11 Titans-Hardest of all to predict. We either make Young look bad or he makes us look
silly like Vick did lat year. I give us the edge becuase he has nobody to throw to:)
Bengals 35 Titans 24
Week 12 @Steelers-Steeler defense is jacked up and ready for revenge. Bengals play with the
physicality and attitude they have been looking for. Classic AFCN battle,
Ben almost loses it for 'em but a field goal seals it.
Steelers 20 Bengals 17
Week 13 Rams-Stephen Jackson is a beast and Marc Bulger gets enough time to make us look
silly in the 4th quarter. i hate teams in domes.
Rams 35 Bengals 31
Week 14 @49ers-Huge game for the fans. We show the Niners what it's like to play in the
AFCN. Our O-line pushes them up and down the field for 4 quarters. Our
defense holds the middle and goes downhill to make Frank Gore and Alex
Smith have a miserable day. Our most complete game of the year so far.
Bengals 38 Niners 14
Week 15 Browns-Customary Browns stomping. Brady Quinn helps J.J. have a career day and
gives Leon Hall is first AFCN interception.
Bengals 30 Browns 6
Week 16 @Dolphins-Fins D plays tough, J peezy is a non-factor of course. Fins offense can't get get on the same page all year.
Bengals 21 Dolphins 14
11-5
4-2 division

Now that's what I call a realistic prediction. Lol.
Those look pretty good IMO. The only one I disagree with is the Bills. They lost Takeo and Fletcher[-Baker]. Trust me, the Bills are my hometown team; we have nothing to worry about. One of those games we will blow though. I know this because I cannot see us going 12-4 this year quite yet. I say 11-5 or 10-6.

These threads where people try to break down and predict every game of the season weeks (or months) before that season even starts are kind of like spending a night with Paris Hilton. Yeah, it's sort fo fun and amusing, but truly pointless and, in the long run, leaves you scratching your head for days. At least this wasn't some way to rationalize the team going 16-0.

_________________________
Week 1: Steelers @ Browns W 34-13
Steelers welcome all the n00bs in Cleveland to the NFL. Iron Mike Tomlin catches his first victory as an NFL HEad Coach
Week 2: Bills @ Steelers W 21-9
Steelers Home Opener is a defensive blast. Look to Willie Parker to have a 150+ yd game.
Week 3: 49ers @ Steelers W 17-10
Watch the NFL try to squeeze hype from the fact that both these teams have 5 SB Trophies with flash back moments to each of their wins. Laugh at the Bengals losing two of those games.
Week 4: Steelers @ Cardinals W 42-7
Bens biggest game of his young career. The Rooney's decision to go with Tomlin looks like the smart one as two former Steelers coaches remember what they used to have. Joe tries to tell us all about how Ben actually stinks, but then says "Well i told you this would be a good year for him." the following day on the boards.
Week 5: Seagulls @ Steelers W 14-10
A stressfull game as both teams despritely try to kill eachother. Seahawks mantra "We should have won SB XL" Steelers mantra "No you shouldn't have."
ByE
Week 7 Steelers @ Broncos L 21-13
Sloppy play after the bye loses this one as the Broncos turn it up for the national audience. Memorable smirk from Shanahan as game ends. Tomlin gets POed at his team and orders an extra practice the following week.
Week 8 Steelers @ Bengals W 28 - 14
Two "questionable" calls in this game spark a billion threads the following day where Bengals fans everywhere pull out the "we woulda won if" card. Beaker gets a new sig.
Week 9 Ravens @ Steelers W 13 - 10
Not the kind of payback victory the Steelers would have liked, but a W none-the less. And just like that the Steelers are 8-1.
Week 10 Browns @ Steelers L 21-20
The blind squirrel finally finds a nut. A muddy sloppy game comes down to a missed FG and the clock hitting 0. The rest of the week feels really... really wierd.
Week 11 Steelers @ Jets L 34-38
Still feeling sick from last weeks crappy loss to Cleveland, the Jets pounce on the opty to knock the Steelers down a peg.
Week 12 Steelers vs. Dolphins W 34-17
Steelers bounce back in the prime time slot and pull off a stylish win. Joey Porter has a chip on his shoulder in the week up to this game, but is humbled by his warm welcome back to Hienz Field.
Week 13 Steelers vs. Bengals W 28-10
The Steelers deliver the final STFU to Cincy for the season. Bengals fans still whine about the questionable calls from their first meeting.
Week 14 Steelers @ Patriots W 17-10
The Patriots aren't the team they used to be.
Week 15 Steelers vs. Jags W 21-9
The Jags forgot that this Steeler team isn't run by Bill "The Jags drive me nuts with rage" Cowher. Ben throws his 23rd TD of the season. Joe griefs him because it was a shovel pass, and as we all know, shovel passes don't count.... unless Carson throws them.
Week 16 Steelers @ Rams W 17 - 13
Despite the close score, it's evident just how much the NFC is behind the AFC heading into the play-offs.
Week 17 Steelers @ Ravens L 13 - 21
Ravens take advantage of the Steelers back-ups as they pull a come-from-behind win in the second half. Billick pumps his fist as they head into the offseason on a win and the Steelers head into the play-offs.

Are the two teams going to jump into the way back machine and play with their 2006 rosters?
I'm not saying it will be easy winning in Seattle, nor that the Bengals will suddenly become one of the best defenses in the league. However, there's no guarantee they'll remain the 31st ranked rushing defense either. I seem to remember how Larry Johnson was going to run for 200 yards against the Bengals at the beginning of last season because of their poor rushing defense the previous season. The league's second leading rusher managed 68 yards in that game.
Should be an interesting game. Let's not forget that their mediocre defense also must contend with our exceptional offense.

Carson Palmer will have another year removed from a serious knee injury and should perform even better this year. Big Ben will be a year removed from that horrible season and should expect him to play better this year. However, the way you put it sounds like the Ravens will just drop off the face of the earth.[:|] I'm sure glad you're not Nostradamus. Mcnair will have a year experience under the gun. The Ravens have upgraded the running game. The line is better, younger, and more athletic. The Defense is always top 5. The Ravens won't have a five game cushion this year but it will be a fight to the final week between Bmore and Cincy.

A "year experience under the gun"? McNair's one of the oldest QB's in the league. How much more experience does that guy need? He's no rookie. Even if he's on a new team, the improvement he has this year, if at all, will probably be scant. Also, you've upgraded your running game? Yeah right. Welcome to Cleveland, Jamal Lewis. The line is younger, and more athletic, but less experienced. The defense will be top five, but your offense will still be average, and now you guys have a huge target on your backs, just like we did last year. And yes, I saw the article about the league's top passers...pardon me if I don't really trust that article as "accurate".
Not only that, and I'm not saying this will work out this way, but current analysts tend to agree that your draft was average at best, and some feel you did among the least to improve your team. And not that Steelers fans have much room to talk, but your team scored only six, count 'em, six points against Indy's defense!!! If they can do it, what makes you think the Steelers or any team with a decent defense won't be able to next year? Homerism, I'd say. [;)] So yeah, don't count on going 13-3 this year.

Dude why do you insist on talking like you have no football sense at all. I guess you get up in the morning after Mommy fixes you a bowl of cereal and watch ESPN and feel you have a ton of knowledge.[;)]Mcnair has had a year to fully understand and know the playbook. I don't care who you are and how long you've played....it take a ahile to learn a new system and gel with team mates. Target on our back or not won't make a diiference. Indy, Pats, Chargers, Bears, Denver must all have targets on their backs as well. That doesn't change much does it. Six points against Indy.....How many points did the Steelers score against us in two games? 7 wow... So because we only scored 6 points against Indy LAST YEAR we will do poor this year[:|] Then I guess in your world or logic with football because the Steelers managed 7 points in two games against us they will do poor this year as well?? And not that Steelers fans have much room to talk, but your team scored only six, count 'em, six points against Indy's defense!!! If they can do it, what makes you think the Steelers or any team with a decent defense won't be able to next year? Homerism, I'd say. [;)] So yeah, don't count on going 13-3 this year.

No one took you seriously last year. You had a HORRIBLE season in '05, so when it comes to the AFC North, people were focusing on us and the Bengals. No one took you seriously until it was too late.
It wont be that way this year.
Teams remember that you were 13-3, and you'll have that first place schedule. You know..the one that Bengal fans blew off last year, and didn't think it would be much of a challenge? "Oh, we can handle it..." then come mid-season, "How come the Steelers got an easier schedule?" (Read that more than a few times on this board last year)
FA hit you harder than you think. That plus the combined focus on you should be enough to keep you from repeating as divison champ. This is a tough divison, arguably the toughest in the NFL, you can't afford too many losses before you're overtaken by either the Steelers or Bengals.
Think about that for a moment.....3 of the 4 teams in this division could EASILY win the division this year.
Means: No matter who's in the lead in the division....there's 2 teams that may pass you if you lose one too many games.

There is no "first place schedule" really anymore. Yes the 1st place team in a division plays the 1st place team in preselected division, but this is only 2 games out of the 16! So everyone in the division plays the same 14 teams (with differences in home and away) and only 2 different teams base in place in divison last year. So thats why Cincy, Pitt, Balt and Clev, and ranked # 8,10,11,12. The schedule is out til 2009 if you want to see it.
Yeah, our division schedule brings our opponents overall winning pct down, since we obviously have a better winning pct then CLE,CIN, And PITT. Outside of those division games we play 10 others. All the teams in our division play the same 4 NFC west teams (SF, ARIZ, STL, and SEA) and the 4 AFC East teams (NE, BUF, MIA, And NYJ) so those are 8 common games.
The only 2 different games are the Ravens playing the division champs from the AFC South and West (SD and NE combined 26-6) Cincy plays the second place AFCS and AFCW (KC and tenn, combined 17-15), Pittsburgh plays the third place teams from those divisions (Den and Jax, combined 17-15) and cleveland gets the bottom feeders (Mia and Oak, 8-24). That theory of a target is weak. If that were the case then teams like Indy, Pats, Broncos, even your beloved team would not have the success they do. Then you must considered teams that come out the blue and have an unexpected good season like the Saints did last year. You must not really pay any attention to the Ravens since you keep insisting we took big FA losses. A two year starter in AD was the only big hit. And our defense will miss him but we have a great system that our FO always have gems to come out and shine in our system. Jarret will fill in great for AD. True its a tough div and anyone can win, but the Ravens just won't fall off the planet this season.

Believe it or not, I know how the first place schedule works. Yes, I know it's only 2 games - but consider this....
How many games did the Bengals miss the playoffs by last year?
One.
They lost to both of those first place teams they faced.....the Pats and Indy respectively. Had they played anyone else in either of those divisions, I think they come out with a win.
That's what you're up against this year.
Who would you RATHER play? The Colts and Chargers (SB champ, and AFC West champ) or Denver and Jacksonville?
Never said you'd fall off the planet, I'm saying that last year the whole exceeded the sum of the parts. That wont happen this season. Teams will take you seriously from week 1. Teams are going to pick apart that playoff game vs. Indy, knowing that your offense hasn't gotten any better, and knowing that your defense, if anyhthing, just got weaker.
By contrast, teams are going to look past us and the Bengals. The way they finished last year, most clubs are going to think, "Same old Bengals" and they'll be surprised to learn they're not. As for us, "Ah, the Steelers have a whole new staff...don't expect much".
Some teams play well as targets, they're that good. The Pats have been so for years, and most teams lose to them - especially in the post season.
My point was, some teams only have success when no one takes them seriously. Winning when people are looking the other way is one thing, doing it when you know you're going to get everyone's A game, that's another.
Bengals came into 2006 pretty arrogant....due to starting out 4-0. Ran into somewhat of a buzz saw against a few teams that brought them back to Earth. Chad Johnson actually had tears in his eyes when he said after a loss, "We're suppose to be past this...". They weren't ready.
We came in with a hangover from 2005. Didn't play well all year.
Both teams will be better this year, believe that.
The Ravens are the focus this year in the AFCN. You wont sneak by anyone, believe that too.
That's ok...think I'm wrong about it....the Bengal fans last year did, too.

No my friend it's you that that didn't take Bmore serious last year. You dream up some of the craziest idea ever............ that teams don't take another team serious in a short 16 game season, where every game counts. Then you are comparing us to a team that is improved, but has only been in the post season once in 15 years. Bengals did not start out 4-0 (as you stated) more like 3-1. If they would have beat a pitiful 4-12 Tampa team, or a 7-9 Atlanta team then that one game would have been non factor as well for playoff implications. Thats why you take every game and opponent serious. It's the NFL not Madden.
Another crazy thought you have is that teams will break down the Indy game to beat us???[:|] If this logic is true then teams will break down the two games the Steelers played last year against the Ravens. What was the combined score? 58-7?[:P] Come on Ghost sometimes you try to reach alittle toooooooo hard. You still haven't told me about where all these FA losses came from Dude. Even if I did get all my info from ESPN, somehow I still think I'd be more informed than you. [:P] Yes, all those great teams have a target on their backs, but they're consistently good teams, and (in my humble opinion) are better than yours and ours, except the Bears of course. And it will make a difference, because that means that teams will prepare better for you guys and give you they're all. The only thing I'm saying is that if Indy can do it, I'm willing to bet other teams can, too.
And this post, my friend, is also where your hypocrisy is shining through. You claim that your game against Indy won't mean you'll do poorly this year, and then say to Ghost that it's impossible to predict a season before it occurs. Yet in this same thread you're predicting the exact outcome: close race between Cincy and Bmore, with Bmore coming out on top again, and ruling the Steelers out right off the bat. So basically, you're only proving my point even more. Have a nice day. [;)]

Like I said....go ahead and disagree with me, people often do - and I'm usually right. Time will tell, though. If the Ravens win this division and have a great record, I'll be here to say I was wrong. But if I'm right and the Ravens have an average (or slightly better than average) season, not repeating as champs, will you admit that I was right?
And....here's short history lesson: We beat you twice the year after you won your SB, too. Once in the post season, as I recall. That was AFTER Ray ran his mouth about, "NOW we'll see who the best team is!"
Yeah, we saw.
And yes....a playoff loss can be the key to beating a team in years to come. It happened to us. The Pats beat us a few years ago, and a lot of teams copied thier game plan that next year.
The Chargers beat the then undefeated Colts while we lost to them. We copied their gameplan, went into the post season and dominated most of that game.
You'll see a lot of teams use that same approach on you this season.
And yes, in a short 16 games season, you do overlook teams.
Do you really think your team is going to take the Browns as seriously as they will the Colts (defending champs, by the way), the Chargers (AFC West champs...better record than you last year), the Pats, (made it to the AFCCG, weren't one and done) or the Seahawks (NFC champ of '05, playoff team from '06)?
I don't believe that, and niether do you.

Every team in the NFL is still an NFL team, you have to take them seriously.
So yes, if the Ravens are smart they will take the Browns as seriouslyas any other team, if anything else it is a division game. Regardlessof what you think about the Browns record they always play tough andphysical they showed that last year when they injured half ourstarters.
