Check it out:
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Cornerback Asante Samuel and the New England Patriots failed to agree on a multiyear contract, setting the stage for a holdout.
Samuel, coming off the best of his four seasons, can only play for the $7.79 million tender offer the Patriots made when they designated him as their franchise player. He skipped the team's mandatory minicamp last month and has said he intends to hold out until the 10th week of the regular season.
The deadline for franchise players to reach a multiyear contract was 4 p.m. Monday. Now the two sides are not allowed to agree to one until after the season. Had the Pats not placed the franchise tag on him, Samuel could have become an unrestricted free agent and they would not be compensated if he signed elsewhere.

Samuel also has three interception returns for touchdowns in the playoffs, tying him with former Raider Willie Brown for the NFL record.

Who would you trade for this guy?

I wouldn't trade for him. He's talented but he only has one great season in his whole career. Before his 10 INT season last year his INT numbers were 2, 1 and 3 respectively.
If he wasn't demanding Nate Clemens type money (8 year $80 Million), I would say go for it but since he is I would pass on him...

Agreed, I would've traded for Clements or Bly. However Samuel looks to be the real deal, but then again, there are a lot of players that look like studs and it turns out to be the system or it was one good year (Reuben Droughns comes to mind).
Besides, as Jom said, he wants elite money, he's just not worth it, and I'd daresay he's not worth giving up an elite player for either. If he shows me some consistency, that might be different. However, remember, a lot of Patriots players don't translate well once out of that system.

Agreed....plus, he'd want way to much money and be an ego problem.
