If you Watch the Ultimate Fighter and want to talk about it.
Well here is the thread for it.

Last Week's episode was better than the first one and the first one was good.
I loved how Trevor Miller went in there and said he had forty fights and got destroyed.
Jens Pulver's team is looking extremely good.
Corey Hill vs. Rob Emerson
That is my next fight I believe that will happen.

I thought the kid that fought the first night and won and then cried wasn't that impressive. He kept talking about how good he was and I thought he looked more like an amateur than a pro. His technique was really sloppy. I think we will see him cry again but this time it will be when he loses in the quarters.

I thought that Karo's cousin looked pretty dominating in that fight. It is going to take a good striker to beat him.

I think Cole Miller did look sloppy and if he was in there with an actual fighter like Daddy, Florian, Sherk ect. they would have finished him in a heart beat.
Karo's cousin looked scaringly dominate. I could see Emerson upsetting a lot of people.
I want to see Gabe Rudeiger get out of the house.

I believe that Gabe is playing it up for the cameras. It is well known that even if you don't win TUF you can make alot of money from Zuffa and the UFC if your personality comes through on that show. Some will play to that as the back up plan. I think Gabe has what it takes to win but I guess only time will tell.

IF Gabe cuts weight then he should be fine actually. I was watching UFC Unleashed last night and he was fighting Melvin Guillard and he looked really good against him and if he can return to that form, watch out.

Ok, so I could have gone without seeing the colonic and been just ok last night but whatever. As far as Diaz goes, I guess I was wrong about him losing his first fight. He has a similar style to his brother in the stand up game. They both like to hold out that right hand and use it to size people up. The difference is Nick's striking is much more crisp than Nate's. Nate had very little accuracy. His takedowns were pretty bad, although I will give Emerson credit for defending those real well in the first round. Once the fight hit the ground, Diaz took over. I think Nate lacks punching power and the ability to finish via KO and I see him being in some trouble if he ends up fighting a real solid stand up guy. Emerson could have won that fight if he would have used more kicks and utilized the jab to keep Diaz away. Congrats to Nate though.

I also thought the g string thing was a little "brokeback" if you ask me. I do understand that they are bored but hell, they just got there...what will happen when we get another week or two in and they are really going crazy?

Who do you think won that first round? I have watched it twice already and still got no idea, I think Diaz maybe but a very very very close call.
It was a decent fight, I don't think it was one of the best fights I have ever witnessed, but for the Ultimate Fighter.. it was good.
Yeah the G string was odd, but it was hillarious to here what Nate had to say.
"These guys are acting gay, nothing against gay guys, I mean if you're gay you're gay, bu these are straight men acting gay, oh well I guess I'll use it against them in the octagon." Or something remotely close to that and I found it hillarious.
Nate looked sloppy with his punching and I think he could have finished Emerson quicker in the second round via arm bar, triangle choke, you name it he should have finished it once it hit the ground faster.
Overall it was a good episode, and I like the fact that Jeremy Horn said that he could Make Cory Hill into a superstar, and I agree I think the kid has the intangables and the intellengence to learn under one of the best MMA fighters, I agree with Horn, he could be unstoppable with his height in the UFC.
I dont see Nate making it to the finals unless Jens helps him a lot with his striking because his punches were inconsistant and not jaw dropping.
Oh well it was the first fight for him, Diego looked sloppy and he dominated in the Ultimate Fighter.
Good episode though.
-Still do not like Gabe.

I would have to say that the first round might have went to Emerson but I am not really sure. He stuffed the takedowns and landed some ok leg kicks (although not enough of them).

I love the fact that Jeremy Horn is there. That guy is one of my favorite fighters. Incredible BJJ.

Still not a Corey fan though, his work ehtic is commendable but his personality makes me want to vomit.

Not a bad episode last night. I think that the material before the fight was week but the figfht itself was pretty good. Andy is probably one of the dumbest fighters I have ever seen. His corner had the perfect game plan and after watching Brandon train, I was sure that Andy would get the easy takedown and go on to submit Brandon. Thus giving Team Penn their first win. I guess Andy is known for not listening to his corner though. That being the case I don't see him ever going far in the sport.

I am really looking forward to watching Gabe and Cory fight next week. That couldn't come sooner for me. I want Gabe to win but I think Corey will probably take it to him.

The episode itself was great, Matt Hughes appears on his what.. Third? TUF? and he is a coach again on TUF 6. I think only Wayne Weems will lose to Joe Laurzon, that is the only guy from team Penn that will make it, MAYBE Gray but thats all. I don't think Gabe is going to cut weight so I do not think there is going to be a fight, or if he does cut weight I think Gabe will extremely too tired and he will just be so fatigued so I think he loses the fight.
Andy is completely bogus and should not be a fighter, SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT! I do not know how many times BJ Penn screamed that. When you are fighting a clear as daylight Boxer who has no take down defense and no take down strategy, why box him when you are a a BJJ guy? Then the way he cried was hysterical, and I loved how BJ made fun of him. I mean he is correct, you don't box with a boxer.
Penn picked a really bad team.

Got some great news Turk here are some of the fights that have been rumoured or announced
Stephen Bonnar vs. Mike Nickels UFC Fight Night 10
Jon Fitch vs. Roan Carneiro UFC Fight Night 10
Sam Stout vs. Spencer Fisher UFC Fight Night 10 (Possibly)
Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh UFC 74 (Possibly still UNoffical but could happen)
Joe "Daddy" Stevenson vs. Kurt Pellegringo UFC 74

Big Nog vs. Brandon "The Truth" Vera UFC 73 (Rumored)
That is some fights. UFC is looking extremely good.

I had heard that Nog will be fighting Justin McCully on either a UFN card or the TUF finale. I wish he would fight Vera instead though. I would love to see that fight!!!
I think Bonnar V. Nickels couldbe a good fight. Mike just score a TKO over a very tough opponent and has been training real hard on his stand up. I like the guy and hope he beats the cr@p (cr@p) out of Bonnar...I don't dislike Bonnar but I really like Mike.
I am a little shocked at the Daddy v. Pellegrino fight. I think Daddy deserves a bigger name that this but it should be a solid fight.
GSP v Kos.....hate this fight. I think GSP will be out for blood and there is no way Kos is going to pull that jab and move stuff he pulled with Dirty Sanchez. Not much of a fight IMO.
I enjoy watching Fitch fight so that is a plus.
As for the Stout v. Fisher bout....this will be amazing!!! What a great fight the first time around. Really looking forward to this one.

Yeah I just read that UFN 10 will be Big Nog vs. McCulley.. Poor Justin, he looked horrible at the last FN and I think he will get destroyed by Big Nog. I think it should have been possibly Heath Herring, Jake O'Brien or Frank Mir vs. Big Nog... not Justin McCulley.
UFN 10 is shaping up to be amazing.
Fisher/Stout
Bonnar/Nickels (most likely Pre-lim non showed bout)
Big Nog/McCulley
Fitch/Romeo

Ha I have to disagree with the Nickels/Bonnar fight, I am a very huge Bonnar fight and I want to see Bonnar step into the octagon once again and just raise all kind of h3ll on Nickels, which is most likely to happen.
Fitch is a great fighter and my Source of UFC info is actually supporting Fitch and he will wear their name on his shorts which I thought was pretty neat showing that Fitch is a great guy (he is getting paid 0 dollars for wearing UFCMANIA.com on his shorts)
UFN 10 should hands down be a great card.
Also TUF Finale is going to be good as well.

I think it should be a good card also! Still hoping Bonnar gets KTFO out though. I don't hate the guy, I just like Mike better. I am looking forward to tonights show. I think Gabe will make the weight but it might be real tough on his body, making him gas pretty quick. Seems to me that they are really trying to build up Corey with all the TV time he is getting plus with Horn saying he can make him a monster. I love seeing guys that talk tough like that get their arses handed to them. It is always funny to see how the react afterwards. Sould be one of the best shows yet!

I think Corey wins tonight either by Via TKO (strikes) or because Gabe won't cut weight.
I was thiking about UFC 71 and the Keith Jardine fight. I do not understand why they threw a unknown in there against him after he got done fighting (and defeating) Forrest Griffin.
I was thinking possibly
"The Punisher" Jason Lambert vs. Keith "Dean of Mean" Jardine
I mean how great of a fight would that be right there?
I think if Forrest Griffin wins his fight at UFC 72 I think it should be
Michael "The Count" Bisping vs. Forrest Griffin.
or
Michael "The Count" Bisping vs. Lyoto Machida that would be an amazing fight as well.

You watching the De La Hoya/Meriweather fight Saturday?
I hope Floyd gets his brains slaughtered in, or I would love to see him fight Sean Sherk, I mean Dana White said he would double his boxing payroll (20+ million for boxing so that would be a 40 Million Dollar fight) to fight Sean Sherk in a MMA match. How cool would that be.

If we could change the Thread Name I should of called it the "Peko and Turk MMA thread" [B]

What a ridiculous episode. Gabe was one of my picks to win it all and he comes WAY overweight and then FINALLY decides to cut for the fight. He gets down to where he only needs to lose three more pounds and he just stops! In my mind he is just as bad as Wang who didn't listen to BJ at all! He should have come onto the show just a few pounds over (maybe ten at most) and then cut when he needed to fight but he came in way out of shape!!!
I hate the fact that there was not a fight last night. They do that each season where there is at least one show with out a fight. The only redeeming quality is that there will be two next week!!!!
I am looking forward to seing how Emerson bounces back after his loss. If he really wants this then he needs to come out guns a blazing!
Joe is fighting next week two!! I figured he would have been the last guy picked, never thought someone form Tema Pulver would call out the one guy that has KOed their coach!

I agree with you on the newcomer (to the UFC) getting a shot at Keith. Keith should be fighting someone else. If Forrest would have won that fight do you think that he wouldbe fighting this guy? No way! I like Keith, although I always root for him to lose because I am not a fan of Greg Jackson's camp.
I think the Count would get schooled by Forrest. His standup is much cleaner. It would be a good one thought, ala Bonnar/Griffin I.
Not going to have time to watch the fight this weekend. Wish I could.

What is funny is that everyone keeps talking about how week Weems is and he is one of my picks to win. He is from the that little camp in Iowa that very few people have ever heard of, you know, the one with some guy named Hughes and another named Sylvia, oh yeah...I think Jens trains there too! LMAO I kill me. Anyway, they put out tough fighters and I think he just may surprise a ton of people!

Yeah that episode was really.. well pointless and I give all the credit in the world to my boy Dana White for booting Gabe out of the house. I am dissapointed that Corey Hill does not get to go on to the quarter finals on a bye.
Emerson better put it up... but I hope Corey wins but I say Emerson via Decision.
Joe is going to beat whoever he is facing I think this is the kid that is going to win the show.
Overall bad show, and Gabe blows.

The next event is the 26th of this month. This will be the Rampage Jackson v. Chuck "I am going to knock you out like I have done to everyone else" Liddell.

I just heard that Rich Franklin's opponent, Kampmann, has had to withdraw from the Belfast, Ireland card due to a knee injury sustained during training. I wonder who they will get to fight Rich on such short notice. This is the main event after all!!

73 looks to be a monster card and I am really looking forward to seeing this one.

I just got done watching Jorge fight Danny Abbadi? something like that on the undercard of UFC 63 and it was a great fight! Jorge utilized his stand up amazingly! I was kinda upset because the fans would boo, even though both of them were slugging their hearts out. I think if Jorge beats Jaime I think he could possibly get his name up there in the mix of some people like a Joe Daddy, KenFlo, Gabe Ruediger (if Dana ever lets him fight in the UFC ever again) because that means he would be coming off 2 straight UFC Victories and that could perpell him onto the main card.
Because I know I would love to see a Jorge vs. Tyson Griffin
or Jorge vs. Roger Huerta.

UFC 63 DVD, my local Blockbuster carries UFC DVD's ha the flying ambar attempt was great I was jumping up and down hoping he got it locked in.
Yeah I did not like Danny it seemed like he really did not try, but they both slugged it out and it was a good fight to be honest just Jorge worked the pace and landed more shots and got a take down at the end.
DO yourself a favor go to your local Blockbuster and see if they carry UFC dvd's or just go out to Best Buy and buy it for 15 bucks which is not too bad.

Yes, the ex WR Johnnie Morton!!! This will be his first fight. He started training awhile ago. I always have to cheer for Royce just because he is Royce!

Ok, so last nights TUF show...I had no doubt in my mind that Joe would walk through his guy and wow did he do just that! I really wish that "lazy elbow" would have landed. That would have been brutal!!! I love it when guys jump on the back of other guys and go for the RNC. I still can't believe he finished it without a single hook in though.
As for the other fight, Corey did not impress me one bit! Emerson landed some brutal leg kicks.
Ok, round one Corey won easily. Round Two was won by Emerson. The money round could really have gone either way. Corey was more aggressive but didn't land very many shots, most were blocked or to wild to land. Emerson didn't do much but he was destroying Corey's leg. I would be surprised if he was able to walk on it the next day. I felt Emerson should have thrown a two or three punch combo and then kicked to the leg...he kept kicking first and Corey used his distance to fend off any punches after the kicks. Set the kicks up with punches!!!! It really is ashame Corey is so tall because if not I think we would see someone use leg kicks to set up a head kick that would surely KO him since he holds his hands down so low!
I think Corey did more in the round but Emerson was more effective, so really didn't know who to give the round too.
I am looking forward to seeing Gray fight. He trained with BJ for awhile before going on to train with Randy in Vegas. Marlon Sims should be fun to watch, I wonder if he will easily walk through his opponent since he has taken on six guys at one time and won easily! Brandon Melendez trains with Horn normally so he should have good BJJ skills. Horn is by far the best submission guy I have ever seen. This guy does stuff with subs that I didn't know was possible. Then you have Weems, the one guy that everyone is calling weak. Well ,the guy has a great record and I thin k he will surprise people with his ablilities. Should be a good one to watch!!!

Joe and Nate were my two picks to go to the finale to fight. But now I think it might be Manny vs. Joe.
So seeing Joe just gobble up Brian, was no surprise.
I was screaming at the TV with the Corey Hill fight. Corey honestly could have finished Rob Emrerson possibly 11 times with strikes. Rob Emerson kept protecting his face leaving his body wide open a couple of leg kick/punch combo's possibly couldh ave won the fight faster for Corey. I scored it Corey, 10-9 Rob 10-9 Corey 10-9 so I was right. I thought it was a fun fight to watch just because I really like Corey.
Next week two more fights, I hope it is Gray vs. Weems because I want to see Gray and Marlon both make it the quarter-finals.
Good Episode last night.

I think you may be right with Manny vs. Joe pick. That seems to be the logical conclusion right now unless one of the guys that has yet to fight really shows something incredible. I think Corey will get submitted in his next fight.
I also would like to see Gray and Marlon make the next round. It would make the last few fights real solid fights.

Yeah Corey, had a lot of holes in his game, so I think someone like Manny or Brandon could easily get Corey down and possibly submit him
Rob Emerson blew it, simply put he blew it.
Turk you should try out for TUF 7 =p

For all Corey's talk, he failed to impress. Emerson showed the recipe though, just chop Corey down with leg kicks.
Joe was great. I like how Dana described him..."he looks like a nerdy kid on a computer, but he'll rip your effing head off".

I thought about trying out for one of the TUFS. Now would be a bad time unless I decided to get back into fighting shape. I have had to quit training for the time due to work wanting me to hurry up and finish getting my degree. So now I am going to school four days a week. But I should be done after the fall quarter so it will be back to training!

I think Frank Mir will get destroyed. I don't think we will ever see him back in the form he was before the accident.

To Spread the news UFC 74
Josh Koscheck vs. Georges St. Pierre
My Prediction: Georges St. Pierre via Decision.
KenFlo is on the card now for UFC 73, which is dumb because it should be KenFlo vs. Joe Daddy.
I have Frank Mir winning by TKO over Tim Slyvia in Round 2.
Tim is coming off an injury so he might not look as good.

Turk88
05-15-2007, 06:36 AM
Yeah but Tim just had back surgery and he says he feels much better so I think he will win by TKO in the second!! I also agree that Kenflo shouldbe fighting Joe Daddy. GSP by TKO in the third.

Hey , thought you might find this interesting since I know you LOVE Corey Hill so much, he is now training in Iowa with Militich. Just read an article on another fighter and he said he was training with the MFS guys and mentioned your boy Corey.

My predicitions:
1.) Chuck Liddell KO Rampage Jackson Round 1
2.) Karo Parisyan vs. Josh Burkman ...I am not sure about this fight. I think Josh can win this fight so Josh by TKO
3.) Keith Jardine def. Houston Alexander via TKO Strikes Round 2
4.) Terry Martin def. Ivan Salaverry via TKO Round2
5.) Kalib Starnes def. Chris Leben via Spilt Decision
6.) Jeremy Stevens def. Din Thomas via KO Round 2
7.) Thiago Silva def. James Irvin via submission (armbar) Round 2
8.) Eric Shaefer def. Eric Salmon via. Submission (triangle)Round 1
9.) Carmelo Marrero def. Wilson Gouvera

This Saturday in Dayton,Ohio is the Ohio Xtreme Fighting's Mayhem. Special guest ref will be UFC vet and Team JG guy, Dustin Hazelett. A few of the guys I train with will be fighting in this one. Should be a good time!

Ha I will tell you one knock on Corey Hill, I hated the way he stood up, with the weirdness in his moving back and forth and up and down I hated that alot.
I think if I lost 20 pounds to make the 155 weight cut I bet you this I gaurentee you, I would be able to take him before he went to Pat's camp.
I honestly think if I could be a middleweight at 185, I bet if I went on that show I would go at least to the quarter finals because there has been some weak talent on those shows and I see the biggest holes in their game.

So last night went down just about how I thought it would. I was shocked that they spent so much time talking about Wang though. He is quite the cry baby and is not that impressive of a fighter.
Speaking of not impressive, how about "Mr. Indestructible" getting destroyed! He talked alot about how tough he was and then got owned! I thought it was funny that everyone said that Weems was a tough kid. I didn't know that to be tough all you had to do was lay there and tak punches to the dome.
I am looking forward to next week to see who the heck is in the fight at the house! I laughed my arse off when Cole said that it was the most technical street fight that he had ever seen!!!

I heard it was going to be Noah vs. Marlon in the technical street fight.
Last fight was dumb, but it went the way it was supposed to go, I thought if Weems would have won, I would have stopped watching it right there. Marlon is probably just like Corey Hill and never fought in the octagon, because he sure as heck did not look like it.

I could see how Noah vs. Marlon would be about right. I know when I rewinded it last night it looked like Marlon was the guy that was kicking and throwing punches.
In the octagon Marlon looked foolish. Who in the h$ll sticks their chin out that far? Even my wife said, "Isn't he going to get Ko'd with his chin out that far?"
I am not sure what kind of stance that was except for a "I wannn get my arse kicked" stance.

Seriously I think he either threw the fight or had no idea what he was doing. It was sickening to watch. Now all the fighters that should have won, the real fighters, are in the final 8 so that means some really good matches and all the phonies are gone.

Maybe saying Serra will get his arse kicked is going a little too far. Still I think Hughes wins the fight. Won't be surprised if it doesn't make it to decision. I thought Serra had a better chance against GSP than Hughes, so when GSP won the fight I figured Serra had more than a punchers chance of winning the title.

I actually think that Serra has a good chance of winning this fight. I think that Serra will try and exploit Matt's lazy stand up and trya dn KO him. I think that Serra has the advantage on the feet as well as on the ground. We all know that Serra has solid BJJ and Hughes has good subs but prefers to GnP.
Should be a good fight, let's hope Serra doesn't have his weak chin exposed so we can GSP vs. Serra II.

As for the Chuck vs. Rampage fight...I think we see Chuck win by TKO. The ref will stop the fight due to strikes. Rampage did not impress me that much in the Lindland fight and Chuck has been on a mission to destroy everyone in his path. The only way I could see Rampage winning this fight is if he takes Chuck into the later rounds and then uses the takedown to mount and pound Chuck ala the first fight.

To tell you the truth I do not want to see a Serra/GSP II this soon and I def do not want to see GSP/HUGHES III just yet because I feel like GSP has not earned his rematch or title shot just yet.

Really a solid performance by the guy.
I hope Noah ends up killing dip ***** in the finals (if Dana let's them fight)

Ha Turk, I could demolish Noah.
I am very dissapointed with this season. I thought that the Joe/Cole fight ended off on a bad note for me. I know accidents happen, but it was just a shame to see that happen to Cole, I think it would have went to a round 3 if that elbow did not happen.
Diego Sanchez almost retired before the Koscheck fight, doctors told him that he had Hepatitis C, but now he is cleared and does not have it.
MMA is huge with ESPN now, they are doing the Weigh in of Chuck/Rampage at 7 on ESPNEWS.
Burkman/Karo tomorrow!!

My DVR box is currently not working so I will be unable to tape the fights and I have some place to be tonight. I usually go to my friends house to watch the fights and then I tape them at home to study later but he is in a band and playing a party tonight. My wife and I have plans and I won't be home to watch them. I am pretty down about the situation. This will be the first time in a long while that I won't be able to see the fights!

You can do what my friend used to do, until we found a bar just outside Chicago that shows the fight.($5 buck entry free)
What he did was go on online and download the fight. It's usually found on either limewire or bit torent within several hours after the fight. Not ideal but you'll get to see the fight on Sunday then...

got some good news.
You know this whole entire supershow that has been promised by Dana White, might actually just happened.
Because Chuck Liddell's trainer said his next opponent most likely will be...
Wanderlei Silva
Thats right you head me. Wanderlei Silva.
I must say UFC 77 (just a prediction) this is what the card should be
UFC 77: SHOWDOWN (Thats what I am calling it)
Dan Henderson vs. Rampage Jackson for the Light Heavyweight Championship
Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva
Tito Ortiz/Rashad Evans vs. Shogun Rua
Andrei Arvslosky vs. Fedor Elelianenko (if he signs!)
That hands down would the best card ever.

Ok I got thinking because I watched UFC 71 again, and I had a dream card.
If I could be match-maker for one card for one UFC event this is what I would do. (It would be a Supercard that would have a total of 8 fights)
Welterweight Showdown:
Matt Hughes vs. Drew Fickett
Light Heavyweight Showdown:
Chuck Liddell vs. Houston Alexander
Welterweight Showdown:
Karo Parysian vs. Georges St. Pierre
Lightweight Championship Match:
Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk vs. Joe "Daddy" Stevenson
Middlewieght Championship:
Anderson "Spider" Silva vs. Evan Tanner
Welterweight Championship:
Matt "The Terror" Serra vs. Nick Diaz
Lightheavyweight Championship:
Rampage Jackson vs. Jason "The Punisher" Lambert
Heavyweight Championship:
Randy Couture vs. Jeff Monson

Thoughts?
What would be your card if you had the chance to make it?
*I left Pride Fighting guys out cause you have seen that card in the UFC 71 section*

Of those fights I think I would like to see Serra vs. diaz and Karo vs. GSP but not real excited about any of the others.
I think Rampage would destroy Lambert very easily.

Ok..here goes my dream card for right now..

Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson
Rich Franklin vs. Matt Linland
Shogun vs. Babalu....the rematch!
Randy Couture vs. Fedor
Bj Penn vs. Gomi
Wandy vs. Tito
Mark Hunt vs. Tim Sylvia
Matt Hughes vs. Karo

and just for fun...Kimbo slice vs. Kimo

Looks as if ESPN is jumping on the MMA bandwagon. It has opened up a separate section specially for MMA:

I'm not mad that ESPN is starting to post coverage on their website, but didn't you notice that everything was a link to Sherdog.com I wish they would start to put new reporters on teh scene and get some stories that I haven't read elsewhere. Oh well, I'll take what I can get for now.
As for my dream fight, it would have to be Rua v. Silva. Soccer kicks AND elbows allowed.

Is anyone else puzzled by Joe's comments here? I am specifically referring to Joe's comments about not being a full-time fighter until after he pays off his student loans. I mean, with his wins over Jens and the first 2 rounds of TUF 5, don'[t you think he'd be able to make enough money to pay them off quicker than a "real" job, even if he doesn't win the whole thing.

Anyone else really dissapointed with this season? These fights have been extremely disgusting.
Brandon easily, could have finished off Gray about 4 times that whole fight, and he did not.. This is just a disgusting season.
Manny is going to literally destroy Matt...
KARO IS IN THE HOUSE NEXT WEEK...
oooh yeah.
I say Manny vs. Gray at the end.
Manny vs. Joe
Nate vs. Gray.
How shocking will it be if Corey Hill beats Nate Diaz.. ha I would love it.
But I think by far Joe is the only real standout other than Manny and Nate in this show. Gray showed that he was weak on his feet and can really only hold someone down and his submissions were par.
ugh..

I read this and I was surprised
The PRIDE FC talent hemorrhage continues.
Undefeated PRIDE FC welterweight (185 pounds) standout Paulo Filho is close to signing a contract with World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), which is of course owned by Zuffa LLC — the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) — according to tatame.com
Speculation swirled recently that the Brazilian Top Team (BTT) jiu-jitsu specialist was headed for the Octagon. In fact, unsubstantiated reports indicated that he was the first choice to replace the injured Martin Kampmann on the UFC 72: “Victory” card on June 16 to face former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin.
However, Franklin’s camp allegedly spurned the offer in favor of Yushin Okami.
Here’s a snip from Filho:
“I am making the deal with the WEC organization. I will close three or four bouts with the event, a parallel one of the UFC. I am pretty glad.”
Filho was on the verge of becoming the PRIDE FC Welterweight Grand Prix champion in November 2006, submitting eventual tournament winner Kazuo Misaki late in round one.
However, Filho had to withdraw from the final match against Denis Kang because of a knee injury.
This is a curious move on the part of Zuffa — Filho is far and away one of the best 185 pound fighters in the sport.
Perhaps the goal is for him to get some wins, exposure and cage experience on American soil before he steps inside the Octagon.
If that’s the case it should not take long at all … he’s that good

Honestly could you imagine Franklin vs. Filho?
WOW

Ok, yes I am really puzzled by Joe's comments but that is another reason to like the kid. He is very down to earth and is not letting his sudden rise in popularity get to him.
As for last nights fight, I am not sure where you thought Brandon could have finished off Gray. I thought that if Gray had better subs he could have easily beaten Brandon. Gray has been exploited as far as his weak standup and I think that that Nate vs. Gray will be a fight that Gray will easily lose. When Gray takes Diaz down he will have to deal with a submission clinic from Nate and I don't think he is ready for that.
I do like Manny but I am just not sure if he can beat Joe. In order to beat Joe you have to hit him first, hit him hard and be relentless. Manny is going to wanna use the strikes to get inside and work for the takedown. Then he will be in his world but he will have to be careful because Joe has 13 wind and of those 13, 11 are subs. His only two losses came from a TKO and a sub. Should be agreat fight.

I am a litte shocked that Filho will be going to the WEC. I expected him to come into he UFC.
I have to admit that I love the fact that all the best fighters are now coming together but I am alos a little disappointed that Pride is falling apart. How can we possibly have the "Superbowl of MMA" like Dana said if all the Pride guys are already here in the UFC?

Okami will be a tought fight for Rich and I hope he pulls through and wins this because I can't stand to watch him lose.

I think this has a lot to do with the lawsuit that Pride FC fighters have filed/are planning to file against the UFC to get out of their contracts. I think the UFC is scared that they would have wasted their money on Pride, if they lost all of the fighters to Bodog and the likes.

Brandon could have finished him off via strikes when he kept repeatedly hitting Gray in the face then Brandon seemed to wear down and stop throwing as many punches when Gray actually could have been TKO'ed via strikes.
Brandon had 3 chances to actually put Gray away via Guillitine choke. But he could not get that arm to lock on to his arm and aply it, even though at once it looked like he could but chose not to.
If Gray wins, then it would be interesting to see a Sean Sherk vs. Gray Maynard fight because both are world class wrestlers and are better on the ground, I think that fight would be a good fight.
If Rich loses to Okami then it will hurt me because I am a huge supporter of Rich. I just got done watching the fight between Rich and Silva and it hurts me to watch it. But to give credit where credit is due Silva had him in that clinch and just demolished our champ. Silva might have this belt for a long time.
I agree with you all I think it is dumb that all of the Pride Fighters are coming over here and how there was supposed to be a Superbowl of MMA.
I mean of course there are still fighters like Barnett, Fedor, Kang, Coleman ect. that are still over there but the numbers are dwendling.
I really want to see Josh Barnett come back and take out Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arvsolsky.

The problem with Josh coming back is his failed urine test he had before he "fled" to Japan.
I still to this day can't watch that fight. It makes me sick. I know SIlva has a good clinch but I have seen Rich's clinch and it is really good. I think that Rich didn't have his head on straight and probably didn't except Silva to be able to over power him in the clinch.

I agree that Brandon could have finished him via strikes when Maynard gave him his back but I think the cutting of all that weight really had something to do with Brandon running out of gas.
All in all it was still an exciting fight. I love fights that constantly travle between the ground and stand up.

Agreed. I think Brandon losing the weight hurt him alot.
There are two fights on next week, that means somebody is going to get Knocked Out in the First Round or Submission in the first round (Corey Hill)
Nate Diaz and Joe have to be the favorites to win this.
I agree the fight makes me extremely sick, but Silva is a good fighter, so it is not like Franklin lost to somebody like Travis Lutter.
Okami I think is tougher than Silva for Franklin. It should be an interesting fight.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell today confirmed a report we passed along (http://ufcmania.com/2007/05/27/post-ufc-71-wanderlei-silva-next-for-chuck-liddell/) in the wake of his loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 71 that he will next fight former PRIDE FC middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva later this year, according to the Boston Herald (http://sports.bostonherald.com/ufc/view.bg?articleid=1004522&format=&page=2).
Here’s a snip from the “Iceman” on the showdown:
“It’s going to be a striking battle. Who’s going to hit harder and throw more punches. I think from the things I’ve seen (of him) that’s what it will be.”
“The Axe Murderer” is coming off of consecutive — and punishing — losses to Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Dan Henderson, respectively.
For Silva, the long awaited match up with Liddell is a bit of a risk — three straight losses and some might think he is finished in mixed martial arts.
However, before that kind of talk even heats up it’s important to remember that Silva moved up a weight class to fight Cro Cop in the 2006 PRIDE FC Heavyweight Grand Prix, and he was hospitalized with a severe illness just days before his loss to Henderson.
Put simply, win or lose the result of this fight will not be career ending … for both fighters.
No specific date for the Liddell-Silva bout has been announced. Rest assured, if and when the bout agreements are signed we’ll pass that news along right away.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not buying into the hype this time, until the contract is signed.

Marlon Sims and Noah Thomas — the two contestants kicked off The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 reality series because of an unsanctioned backyard brawl — will not fight at the TUF 5 Finale on June 23 despite a press release (http://www.spiketv.com/index.html#rant/blrcm/t=blrcm/id=292/st=1/cnt=1) issued last week that said the match up was booked.
That’s the word from Steve Seivert over at the Houston Chronicle (http://blogs.chron.com/fighting/2007/06/sims_thomas_kicked_out_of_ufc.html) who recently spoke with UFC President Dana White about the puzzling decision to reward the fighters with another chance in the Octagon in front of a massive television audience.
Here’s the snip from White:
“They’re not fighting on the finale. Not only are they not fighting in the finale, they’ll never fight in the UFC. Spike wanted that fight. It ain’t gonna happen. No (expletive) way is that fight going to happen. Those guys will never fight in the UFC - ever.”
Apparently, White said it was a “mistake” and that he didn’t find out about the news until “yesterday” because of a hectic travel schedule (although the release was issued more than one week ago).
Uh-huh.
I’ll let Seivert take this one:
“Hmm. Let me get this straight. The president of the UFC — a self-professed control freak — didn’t sign off on the announcement and didn’t actually find out about the fight until yesterday. The skeptic in me is having a hard time swallowing that one. White is the UFC. He knows when his fighters blow their noses. In front of the cameras, he was livid about what went down. He lit into Sims and Thomas on the TUF episode that featured the backyard fight between the two lightweights. And, you’re telling me no one consulted the head of the organization and the executive producer of the show about bringing these two guys back?”
Internet boards and forums exploded with outrage (http://ufcmania.com/2007/05/30/tuf-5-finale-marlon-sims-and-noah-thomas-set-to-fight-again/) and condemnation when the bout was announced. Perhaps the UFC didn’t anticipate all the negative feedback and backlash from the fans.
Or, it really was just one “unfortunate” mistake and Spike television decided to play UFC matchmaker for the day without the consent or knowledge of the UFC.
As Seivert says, I’ll let you decide. I’m probably in enough trouble.

The first fight of the night went pretty much like I thought it would..well sort of! I thought Diaz would get Hill down and then beat him a little before submitting him via armbar. Corey looked a little better but if Diaz would have let his hands go he would have beaten Corey up because he had his hands so wide apart.
The next fight was a pretty good one. I thought that might be the case. Matt is a real solid fighter but did not look so good last night. I am not sure why he wasn't on his game but he wasn't. Manny looked real good again. I would have liked to have seen Manny go for some subs on the top or rain down some heavy punches but he really didn't throw that manyonce in a dominating position.
So from the previews of next weeks show it looked to me like Dana was trying to get Diaz to fight Manny. Sounded like he wanted the fighters to fight there teammates. I think the way Dana has done this is BS. Usually I like how Dana acts but it seems to me like he wants to make sure there is a Team Pulver guy vs. a Team Penn guy in the final. I think that is wrong. Although I would like to see Diaz vs. Manny because I think would be the best fight so far when it came to the technical ground game. Joe vs. Grey could be an intersesting match as well. Maynard will want to take Joe down and Joe will probably want to exploit his weak stand up.

So what matches would you rather see:
Nate vs. Manny (the family feud continues)
Gray vs. Joe
or Nate vs. Joe, Manny vs. Gray
or Nate vs. Gray , Manny vs. Joe

ThePekoSquad

Well by the previews Turk, it looks like it is going to be Manny vs. Nate and Joe vs. Gray which I am not too excited about, I think it should be Manny vs. Gray and Joe vs. Nate, but I think that Dana knows what Nate and Joe should fight in the finals to get ratings so he doe not want them to fight just yet.
Its going to be interesting because one of the final eight is going to be fighting Leonard Garcia in the finale, and I think its going to be Matt Wiman or Gray Maynard.
Corey Hill for his second fight ever, looked great, he just needs a established ground game and then the sky literally is the limit for this guy, he has fists of fury and the only thing hurting his is a ground game.
Manny is an animal, espically with Karo in his corner. Manny I knew would go this far, but I really wanted to see Manny vs. Gray two both ground and pound fighters it would have been such a great fight to see.
Next week can't wait to see what Nate does to make my boy Karo so mad. Everyone knows Nate would get hurt by Karo.
Maybe we can see Nick Diaz coming back to start another fued with Karo!

Overall good show.

I think it's dumb that he wants to make it a Pulver guy vs. a Penn guy in the finale. It's not like after teh show was finished taping, that they were training together still. It's not like Pulver and penn are going to be in their conrners, considering they have a fight of their own that night.

Just thought Iwould pass this info along

MMA on Tap (http://www.mmaontap.com/mma/entry/pulver-to-move-to-wecs-featherweight-division/) is reporting that Jens Pulver (21-7-1) will be ditching the UFC after his showdown with BJ Penn at The Ultimate Finale 5 according to his manager Monte Cox.
While no official announcement has been made, “Little Evil” is expected to join the featherweight ranks of the WEC and possibly face the “California Kid” Urijah Faber (19-1).
While it’s just speculation at this point, this is a fantastic match-up but one that I believe hinges on the outcome of his fight with Penn.
A win would most likely put him at the top of the WEC food chain - and against Faber. But a loss, even to someone as gifted as “The Prodigy”, may reinforce the belief held by some critics that he’s on a downward trend as evidenced by his KO loss to Joe Lauzon.
Whether he faces Faber or not, he’s guaranteed to make some noise in the featherweight division.
I know some fans look down on the WEC as some sort of minor leagues for the UFC. The same WEC that recently signed Paulo Filho and now possibly Jens Pulver.
There’s nothing minor about that.

I would love to see Jens fight Faber. Actually, I would love to see Jens pound Faber's face to a bloody pulp. I don't like that guy at all. He is extremely cocky and I am looking forward to seeing him get beat up sooner or later.
As for the WEC, I like the organization but I too feel as if it is a feeder for the UFC. I want to see guys like Jake Shields from Elite XC come to the UFC.

I actually like Faber. He can come across as cocky, but from the MSNBC special they were doing on mma, in which they did a segment on him, he came across as a pretty down to earth kind of guy. I like him and think he is a pretty exciting fighter. I think that Pulver has to beat BJ if he's going to get a crack at Faber's title right away. It's hard to justify that your org is on the same level sa the UFC if you give a title fight to a guy who is coming off a loss, even if it is against top competition.

It is official, according to UFC website and the episode guide, we will see Joe fight Manny first and then we will see Diaz vs. Gray.

This says to me that the fighters in the Finale will be Nate vs. Manny.

Spencer Fisher (http://ufcmania.com/2007/05/30/ufc-quick-quote-spencer-fisher-calls-out-joe-lauzon/) wants Joe Lauzon. Joe Lauzon (http://www.mmanews.com/ufc/Exclusive-Interview-With-TUF-5-Fighter-Joe-Lauzon.html) wants Spencer Fisher. And according to “The King” in his post-fight video interview on UFC.com (http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=MultiMedia.video), the lightweight match up is more than likely up next for both fighters.
Fisher — who outslugged Sam Stout in an epic three-round war last night at UFC Fight Night 10 — beat Lauzon’s younger brother, Dan, at UFC 64.
Lauzon — who’s wrapping up his stint on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 — upset Fisher’s Miletich training partner, Jens Pulver, at UFC 63.
The two have some marketable history … I can already hear the pre-fight promos. It also happens to be a great match up between two aggressive fighters.
As a semifinalist on TUF 5, Lauzon will be in action at TUF 5 Finale on June 23, whether it’s in the championship or consolation bout. And since it’s less than two weeks away, both fighters have the benefit of timing.
While not yet official, let’s hope this happens sooner rather than later.

I hope Joe Knocks him out so bad.

Just thought I let you know, finally the top 2 fighters from TUF 3, are going to be FINALLY fighting each other, giving them both a test finally in the octagon.

MATT "THE HAMMER" HAMILL vs. MICHAEL "THE COUNT" BISPING

UFC 75

I hope Hamill rings his bell. But I like both of them, but Hamill is apart of Team PA, so I will be rooting for him.

I hope the Count puts Hamil down for the count!!!! I don't think this is really that tough of a fight for Bisping. He just needs to work on one thing and that would be his takedown defense. We know that Hamil will not one to stand and trade with him so he will probably look for the clinch and then the takedown right away. I hope Bisping is working on his BJJ as well. I can't stand the PA guys..nor do I like the Greg Jackson camp. Seems like most of the fighters I do not like are from those two camps.

Ok, I only watched one episode last night and I will watch the other tonight. I thought that Manny looked horrible. Yes, he has really strong takedowns and he can control an opponent when he is on top but he did nothing other than lay and pray. One or two elbows does not make a good fight.
Joe looked lazy last night. He should have gone for the takedown first and then when he finally did get on top he took Manny's back. Then, since he is down and needs to finish, he should have started unleashing punches and hoped that the ref stopped the fight because Manny didn't defend. That was a boring fight and I now hope that Manny loses in the final...even though I think he will fight Diaz in the final and I am not a Diaz fan. His brother is a good fighter but I can't stand their attitudes.

ANYONE ELSE WATCH TAPOUT????

I wont tell you what happens in the second episode.
But the first episode, I was extremely dissapointed and I think that Joe was extremely tired, actually you can tell that all 4 of the fighters were gased. Joe looked nervous and clueless. But Joe is still a good fighter and we will def see him in the UFC again.
2nd Episode well, Ill leave that for you to discuss when you watch it.

back to Bisping/Hamill
I like Hamill, I like Hamill alot, he is a good story to cheer for because he is overcoming a handicap to fight in the Octagon and that is a good story, he does have the worst stand up other than Marlon Sims, because he is afraid to get hit, because well.. if he gets hit he goes to the hospitial. So I think round 1 will be Hanill on top of Bisping trying to throw Elbow's but yet Bisping will do more damage on the ground punching and elbowing Hamill in the head and in the ears to make Hamill nervous. Round 2 Bisping siwngs for the fences takes down Hamill and ground and pounds him into submission.
I tried watching Tapout once after WEC and I did not really like it.
Have you see the Urijah Faber vs. Tyson Griffin fight where Griffin crushes Faber?
