Right right... because I forgot the Bengals 8-8 was so much better than the Steelers 8-8.
Funny thing is... we go 8-8 and the year is considered a failure.. you guys go 8-8 and it's considered normal. [:P]

Yeah, cause we all know Marvin carried that entire team to a Title.
Although I will say this, Marvin and Peyton have an outstanding natural chemistry. They know eachother very very well. Probably because they've played together so long...Chad and Carson will have it eventually.

Whatever.....that's why ESPN took a poll of NFL DB's on which WR is the best the league and it wasn't even close.....Marvin Harrison.
Was talking with a former Bengal who wore #85 in both of your superbowl....he said Chad is 3rd best!
Drink all the Ocho Cinco Kool-Aid you want, but the fact is
*Harrison is first ballot hall of famer and will be only second to Jerry Rice when he retires
*Has a superbowl ring
*Shows up in big games (I know alot of you will argue this, but did you see that catch Harrison made on Monday Night Football against New England? Did you see that 2 pt conversion he caught in AFC Championship game? RIDICULOUS!!! When is the last time 85 made a play to beat one of the top teams in the AFC? Never, because you guys don't beat top AFC teams!)
*How many times does your QB who I think is one of the best in the league wonder in his head, "Is this guy EVER going to just shut up and play football????" (Don't give me that he is an emotional leader crap, because anyone who is played football knows when you walk into that huddle, the QB is!)
*You are bragging that Chad had more yards than Harrison? You know by how many? 3! Seriously.....3 yards doesn't mean you are better! Chad only had 59 yards more than the Colts #2 receiver!!! I will tell you what! You can have Chad and his 3 yards! I will take Harrison and his 12 Touchdowns....5 more than Ocho Mohawk!

Too bad even if Marvin is better than CJ it doesn't automaticall make him the best in the league because CJ is only arguably the best... not the best.Great so a former player doesn't think CJ is the best WR in the league... there's clear cut proof that he must not be.And who says that when CJ retires that won't be him?? You realize that if CJ plays as long as Harrison, and keeps on the pace he is on now... he will be ahead of Harrison on the all-time list, correct??Irrelevant.Doesn't... one season, a couple of games, doesn't put him in that category... look at the seasons and games before that.0.4 years in a row CJ led the AFC in receiving yards... the only WR in history to lead his conference in receiving yards 4 years in a row... that my friend would be a record, and you can't argue it.

How can the best WR in the game NEVER have had 10 TD in a year? Johnson hasn't! Not at all!
Harrison has had 10 or more 8 times!!!! EIGHT CONSECUTIVE TIMES!!!
He has had 15 twice, 14 once, 12 three times, 11 once, and 10 once.......
Johnson career AVG per season: 1154
Harrison career AVG per season: 1245
If they play the same amount of seasons Harrison, 88 will have more.....
They may be close when it is all said and done in yardage, however Johson will never even come close to Harrison in Touchdowns and Catches (which Harrison already holds the NFL single season record).
I stand corrected...he had 10 TD in 2003

How?? By being Chad Johnson. You can't compare the career average now... you have to compare at the same point in their careers.Never?? Are you sure?? You mean to tell me that there is no way in hell Johnson can get TD's and catches?? He is all of a sudden going to stop existing?? I highly doubt that.

ONE MORE TIME FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED: CHAD HAS HAD MORE YARDS THAN MARVIN FOUR YEARS IN A ROW, NOT JUST LAST YEAR!
Apparantly me underlining it for you the first time was not enough. Marvin is a very well-respected reciever by me, trust me. The ability him and Peyton have to communicate so efficiently will go down in history. Super Bowl ring for Harrison? Good. That will help carry him into the HOF, true. But he alone was 1/53 of the reason you guys got there. So don't tell me he's got some super ability to carry his team to the SB, lol. Maybe you couldn't see this through your homer goggles, but do you remember 4th and 1 against the Panthers week 7? On fourth-and-one, Carson audibles at the line and throws the ball 32 yards in the air to a diving Chad Johnson who catches it in coverage along the sideline. After that, we proceed to score the game-winning TD. Bada bing, bada boom.
May I add that CJ put up, oh I don't know...260 yards and 2 TDs against what I'd say was a legit opponent...the San Diego Chargers' Top 10 D.

I said that based on something I had seen either online or on TV about CJ or maybe in a newspaper... if it was wrong then clearly so was I, but the point is that CJ is a great WR... and is arguably the best in the game because he runs amazing routes, has unbelievably underrated speed, great hands, great ball skills... and a passion for the game. You can say all you want about his antics, but he has fun playing the game and has proven time and time again how much he loves the game, so I see absolutely nothing wrong with his antics because they don't hurt anybody and he doesn't go overboard like people make it out to seem.

Let me wrap this up and put a bow on it for you:
The Bengals needed one win to get into the playoffs.....One win over the last 3 weeks. Chad didn't show up at all against the worst defense in football, the Colts! Nick Harper strike that much fear into him? He had a good game against Denver......but wasn't enough (this is a little harsh.....because of special teams.) And he was NON EXISTANT against the Steelers.......at HOME!
All those monster yards he puts up doesn't mean anything if the only thing he wins is a horse race!

Nobody on our offense played well against your defense for some reason, so it wasn't just Chad... and Chad can only do so much considering he can only touch the ball when it is thrown to him.Chad never play big against the Steelers... however, he also gets more focus from the Steelers than any other team in the league, which is why Henry and TJ always have good games against the Steelers. WR's need to do more than just catch the ball in order to help the team.

That's why my favorite block of all time was little Marvin Harrison pancaking 2 defensive backs Denver (Champ Baily was one I think) on ONE play so Reggie Wayne could score. This was in the playoffs two years ago.....
Just for those keeping score at home, my Colts season tickets come tomorrow! I have Bengal season tickets too.....when are those comming? I have Redskin season tickets (don't ask, long story) they don't come until a week before the first preseason game.

1) Covering a talented WR is always a challenge....whether it's CJ or TO or MH, etc. Our method is not to try to lock one CB on any one WR, as then the WR can use his game film knowledge of that CB's tendancy's to beat him.
We tend to use the entire defense and we tend to mix up and disquise our pass rush, but our pass coverage as well.
If you look at what CJ has done against the rest of the league, and what he's done against us - I'd say we do the best job out of anyone. So far as I know, he's only caught ONE touchdown pass against us. That's it.
We also did a good job on MH when we faced him in the post season, too.
As for the whole "we were better than you last year" thing - face it.....regardless of who your team is, we were both 8-8 and we both stunk.

Very true. And as much as I hate to admit, I agree with doctorhook18. For all the shows Chad puts on, he still has to live with the fact that even he couldn't lift his team to more than one winning season in 4 years. As far as Chad goes, I'm convinced he cares more about himself than he does about his team. (Mind you, this little statement is from gut feeling based on Chad's words and actions, not out of solid facts) [:P] Football still is a team sport, and if Chad truly had a team mentality, I doubt he'd still be the flashy egomaniac he is today. It's a little sad when you lead the league in receiving 4 years straight and strut around like a cocky SOB, yet the only trophy you have to show for it is from a horserace. Way to go, ocho cinco. [Y]

Get over it.
Most WR are of this mentality because of what they have to do on the field. However what most people get is that Chad also likes to have fun and talks to the press. Others take themselves way too seriously.

Most people always just think Chad has a 'me, me, me!' mentality. He is no TO here. That horserace that everyone like to throw in their arguement was for CHARITY. Charity, folks. He publicly encouraged helping charity, and that's all he stressed in the interview afterwards. Him and Carson actually study footage of Marvin and Peyton to learn how to attain that natural chemistry they have. He adds fun and personality to the game and to the team. He is [part of] the face of this franchise, and he is a damn better face than...oh, I don't know...Mike Vick!

Shockwave....I totally agree....WR receivers need to do more than just catch the ball....
That's why my favorite block of all time was little Marvin Harrison pancaking 2 defensive backs Denver (Champ Baily was one I think) on ONE play so Reggie Wayne could score.* This was in the playoffs two years ago.....
Just for those keeping score at home, my Colts season tickets come tomorrow!* I have Bengal season tickets too.....when are those comming?* I have Redskin season tickets (don't ask, long story) they don't come until a week before the first preseason game.
I think I remember that block, but my favorite block by a WR was when Ed McCaffery nailed some Packers LB years ago... it was crazy.Give me the Bengals season tickets. :)

Just a reminder to the fans of the less fortunate franchises in the AFC.
Granted CJ is one of the best Wide outs in the NFL but also how much does Palmer, and "who's ur Moma" contribute to his ability to get open....Palmer one of (If not the Best well within the top 3 QB's in Nfl) and then there is CJ's wide out team mates.
So I would have to say much of CJ's success in his yardage is also due to Palmer and the compliment of Wide outs the Bengals have.

I agree to a point. In the 2 years prior to Carson playing (CJ's 2nd and 3rd years), Chad Johnson had 1166 and 1355 yards respectively while catching the ball 69 and 90 times. All this with Jon Kitna at QB. So, it's safe to say that Chad gets good stats due mainly to his abilities, with some help from Carson and TJ, etc.

Actually Shock, I wouldn't really say that Champ covered him. Chad dropped about 3 balls that he was wide open for and then fumbled another after the catch. If he holds on to those balls, not only would we have won the game, but his stat line would have looked a whole lot better. Chad cost us that game for sure, but Champ didn't exactly cover him.

Even if you didn't imply that, your claim of him being a "ball washer" is just plain ludicrous. You're talking about a RB who made the Pro-Bowl his first year as a full-time starter, and over the past two years (despite being a year younger and having a worse O-line) has had consistently better yards and YPC than your boy Rudi Johnson. I don't think I need to remind you that this guy also ran all over your D for over 130 yards in our last game. So once again, nice try NOOB. [H]

Okay, I was with you calling BamBam a homer. But, you just showed your homerism there, homer ol'boy.
Parker's been in this league for 3 years. He's had 2 thousand yard rushing seasons (not bad). Only one of them did he best Rudi in rushing yads. Yes, he beat Rudi in YPC in the last two years (though 2 years ago it was 4.7 to 4.3), but Rudi has been a more consistent workhorse than Willie.
While Willie is no doubt a good RB, Rudi has proven to be consistent longer (of course, he's been in the league longer, but still ....)

Hmm, you're right, Rudi did have more rushing yards in '05. Okay, I was wrong. For ONCE in my life, I was wrong. You happy????
*But no argument that Rudi was more consistent than Parker the last couple years. I meant it more in terms of overall performance; should've worded that better. Last year Parker tended to be hit or miss. If we can get him to be more consistent (in a good way) this year, then there's no reason why he shouldn't have another great season. [Y]

I really don't care what CB can cover him one-on-one because if the opposing DEFENSE stops him, then he isn't productive and who stopped him is irrelevant. There are very few CB's that can cover guys one-on-one on a consistent basis and stop them... and there are very few who can even cover the lower tier of WR's one-on-one... to win against man coverage isn't an accomplishment.

Okay then.....your arguement is that "maybe" Chump Bailey covered Chad. That's the best you've got? I say that pretty much proves that NOBODY can beat Chad....except for Chad.
No my argument is that Champ covered him. Spin it however you wish, but no matter what you say you will not be able to prove that I only see it as a possibility that he covered him... nor will you be able to prove beyond doubt that he didn't cover him. Face it... CJ is not a God and CJ can be covered. Besides...
If it's so easy to beat a guy one on one.....why not simply throw it to the #3 receiver all day?
Just why DO they double cover Chad?
It's called strategy and knowledge of the game... learn it and then come talk to me.
Oh! I get it! Only the GREAT ones get double covered. Because one guy can't cover Chad right?
Bam Bam, please, stop the madness. OK you're a bengals fan. We get it. That doesn't mean that you have to reach so hard in defense of your belief that one of our players is great. CJ is great and he probably in all honesty can't be covered one on one. But the fact is, that Shockwave has pointed out, very few recievers can be covered one on one. Especially the upper echelon.
You bring up the 3rd reciever.
You do know why most guys are 3rd recievers right. Because they aren't good enough to be #1 yet or ever. We, as a team, have been blessed to have an up and coming #1 reciever in a 3rd reciever slot. Which is one of the reasons that our passing game has been so spectacular. It's because you can't double cover everyone and all of our recievers need to be double covered. You don't throw it to third reciever all day because he's not on the field all day. But when he is on the field a good QB with a good enough line will get the ball to him. Which is why Henry has the #'s that he has.

And Hines Ward had 2 receptions for 17 yards in that same game against Cincy last season. So I guess anyone in the Bengals 31st ranked secondary can cover him.
The point is you guys doubled up on Chad, either rotating a safety or having a LB shadow him (sometimes both). That is why Henry and TJ were able to do whatever they wanted against your D...
