Anyone else think we need a decent veteran back up QB. A Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson type. Before you go off on a tangent read why. A veteran (former multiple season starter) may see things that he could relay and share with Carson when he comes back to the sideline. No one sees everything but he might see something Carson did not. Be able to help keep him more settled. Chances are he would have seen most anything in the NFL. I was not a fan of Kitna as a starter but, being there on the sideline for Carson I think was much bigger than most realized.

Right now thats the last thing we need.. If we needed any Veteran it would have to be a defensive player... Palmer's fine IMO.

Rowe will have one season in the system; figure they did not draft him for no reason.

If they resign the decent for the price Fitzpatrick; than he should have a season in the system as well.

I like Bramlet but let him go years go for some other QB; don't recall his name.

No No No, no more quarterbacks...i think the three we have are fine....we need to bring in a defensive stud, suggs, or if the planets align, briggs....

Why do we keep hoping that Mike Brown is going to undergo an Ebeneezer Scrooge epiphany and suddenly start throwing money a top notch free agents?

We're due for a run of luck some draft picks who stay healthy and deliver. The whole Chris Perry, David Pollack, Odell Thurman, Kenny Irons bad karma has got to come to a screeching halt eventually. Oh, I forgot our psuedo-third round pick who has played one game this season, Ahmad Brooks.

If it weren't for bad luck, we'd have none at all.

You shouldn't get your hopes up for a top FA. The Bengals don't go after FAs. We also need to factor in the franchise tag with Suggs, he's probably not going to be in the market at all.

Whoa! all I was aying is that it never hurts to have an extra set of vetran eyes on the sideline. I wasn't even wishing for a Top tier guy. Just someone that has been there Before.

look at the backups for the elite qb's in the league....they are garbage..they don't waste salary space on decent veteran backs...it's good idea in theory but in reality it is a waste of money...spend the money on defense

I do not want us to sign another veteran backup QB but look at how different we are with out John Kitna. Marvins first year we went 8-8 with John Kitna. The Second year it was Carson Palmers "rookie" year with John Kitna backup and we went 8-8. The third year we went 12-4 with John Kitna as the back up. Last year we really underachived and Kitna was gone. I think everybody knows how this season is going.

how can you show any connection? you could list a hundred difference between the 03-05 teams and this team...yeah kitna is doing well in detroit but i don't think having him on the bench was the BIGGEST difference between us winning and losing....carson has played well enough to win games he is playing at a pro bowl level and the defense routinely lets him down...kitna isn't helping the defense get pressure on the qb or wrap up running backs....a big name back up is a waste of money that should be used improving this AWFUL defense

We need a vet at center.

Mike is not willing to spend the money to get the top FA that would help the Bengals and that's sad.

He is not willing to put out and ever pay somebody but taht does not mean that we will not get a good free agent. The two players that jump out right now are Kenny Watson we did not pay him big money as a free agent but has done alot for the team and Bobbie Williams we did not pay huge money for him but he has been a solid player who is the most cosistant offensive linemen on this team this year.

Mike Brown has a lot of sub-par free agents, but a couple have developed into solid players for us. Reggie Kelly and Bobbie Williams are great examples of that. However, I would like him to go out and actually sign one of the big name guys that are available.

Big names do not always pay off though. Adlius( not spell right) Thomas has not been anything great for the patriots. Just because they are big names does not mean that they will translate well with another team but it does mean you have more money invested in them. Lamont Jordan is another example he has done nothing for the Raiders.

Lamont Jordan was a stupid signing in my opinion. I couldn't believe the Raiders invested so much in a back up, that's why I have ?'s about Michael Turner since I think he's going to be the #1 RB on whatever team he goes to.

I know big name FAs don't always make an impact, but sometimes they do. At this point, I think we need to take a risk, but lately, I just don't see any big namers being available. I don't expect to see Karlos Dansby or Albert Haynesworth on the market. Like I said, Briggs will get some overhyped deal.

Is Asante Samuel going to be a FA? I know he's not coming here, but do you think he'll get a bigger deal than Nate Clements?

Yes Samuel's will be a free agent because they franchised him well I guess they could od that again but he is going to get a huge contract from somebody i am going ot say more than Nate Clements.

I can't imagine how angry Samuel would get if he got tagged again. I think that he'd actually sit the whole season if he got tagged by the Pats. I think he's going to try and get a deal that's bigger than Nate Clements, I don't think he'll want the same number of years, but he'll want the money.

I research turn out the guys name was Krenzel, I think?

I can not see him on any NFL pro teams roster this year.

We know all about Craig Krenzel. There was some guy who thought Krenzel was bigger than Jesus, it was a freaky man-crush.

Oh my bad, did not realize everybody here knew Krenzel.

The Bengals should have a 20 million to spend on free agents after draft picks and signing are few players we want to return.

Hopefully they can get one playmaker with that money.
