First i want to say not surewhere we will pick, but going on #5 or #6 pick.....
First we pick-up Lance Briggs ( i know when has a Bengals offseason aquire a large FA, but we are due).....
First Round...
Calais Campbell DE Miami
2nd Round....
Frank Okam DT Texas 6-5 320 40 yd. 5.24
3rd Round...
Wesley Woodyard OLB Kentucky 6-1 215 40 yd 4.49
3rd Round......
Vince Hall ILB VT 6-0 238 40 yd. 4.89
4th Round.....
Dre Moore DT Maryland 6-4 305 40 Yd. 5.04
5th Round......
Caleb Campbell SS Army 6-2 223 40 yd 4.53
6th Round.....
Joey Haynes TE Maryland 6-8 262 40 yd 4.88
First time doing a draft but i think this is a very good draft defensively.
Think about it
LB Core= Woodyard, Briggs, Hall, & Brooks...w/ Thurman as a possibility...OUCH
DE = Geathers, Campbell, & a slight chance of being back Pollack
DT= Peko, Okam, Moore , Can you say WALL
Safety = Jackson, White, Duke Nukem, Campbell
And to appease all with a TE, a big one at that....!

I would be very happy if we had that draft, but no way will Frank Okam land in the second round. Also, I would like to keep Micheal Myers on the team, get rid of John Thornton and bring up Matt Toeaina from the practice squad.

Bullseye Peko. That is exactly what I want to happen.

Im still not sold on Campbell, but he is still a junior and might not declare if I remember correctly.
I like Long over Campbell at the DE position, also I still like the 2nd round projected prospect right now from USC, Lawerence Jackson.

I'm hoping that a good 1st round LB, like Poszlusny, falls into the 2nd round. Hopefully we'll be the team to snag him. I still envy Buffalo for snagging him.
I know we're going to get a LB in the first day because I feel like we're going to get rid of one of our good LBs. Like Landon or Lemar. Wow, a sentence with almost all "L" words, not every day that happens.

You have no idea how bad I wanted Paul Posluzny in the first round. I mean Leon Hall fell to us and i was extremely happy, but I still wanted Paul Posluzny. Man.. I really want him on this team still!
Oh well, maybe Dan Connor could be that LB that falls into the second round and we snag him!

Once again brain buddy. I was screaming for us to make a trade and get him. He would've been a great steal for us. I watched the Buffalo/Denver game in week one and the announcers were commenting on how Buffalo was very happy with Puz. They said that his maturity was outstanding and they couldn't believe how well he adapted to the pro level. He may be on Buffalo, but I was bummed when he went down with a season ending injury.

Oh it was awful, and the other sickening thing, when the Jets traded up and got David Harris as well.
I mean the kid just had 24 TACKLES.. yes.. 24 TACKLES in one game.
ONE GAME.
When I saw Buffalo make a trade up to get Paul Po, I was heart broke. Then when we selected Jeff Rowe over Tim Shaw also made me throw up. Tim Shaw was a THIRD ROUND PROJECTION PLAYER.. He made it to the 5th round! ergh!!
Paul Po didn't he go down with an elbow injury? Oh well, I know for a fact this kid could of been the superstar and leader we needed in the draft. I still am very happy with Leon Hall, but man Paul Po is a tackling machine.

I was also dashed with the Rowe pick. I am from Rowe country and I am just not sold on him. There were other tall QBs available. I just think the 5th round is a little early to be drafting your "future" 2nd stringer. We passed up a lot of good talent in my opinion. Rufus Alexander, Brandon Siler, Ben Patrick, just some good talent.
Of course Peko, how can we forget our boy, Eric Weddle. I was so upset when San Diego nabbed him, I honestly thought he was going to fall to us. I collect football cards and it's hard to look at Weddle in a non-Bengal uni. I usually find myself saying "Damn you San Diego" when I get his Charger card.
I am pleased with Leon as well. I don't understand why some people are so down on him. It's like they expected him to be Champ Bailey right off the bat. He'll be a solid starter for us in the future, once the rookie kinks are worked out and we get a new DC/scheme.
I am hopeful that Kenny Irons will pan out for us. I wasn't a fan of the pick, but I understood that it was because we had so many trades in front of us, it's like the Joseph in pick 2006.

Are you my long lost brother? Because we scaryling think alike.
I remember exactly what my draft looked like last year of the players I wanted and it went like this.
1st Round- Paul Posluszny
2nd Round- Eric Weddle
!!!!
Man, it makes me sick as well knowing that neither of these men are in a Bengals Uniform, both really could of helped our team out drastically, I mean maybe if we drafted Weddle, we don't draft Ndukwe? ergh I dunno, I would much rather have Weddle and Duke Nukem, than Marvin White and Duke Nukem.
Something about Marvin that rubs me the wrong way.
Yeah, I think Matt Moore is a better QB than Jeff Rowe, and has a higher roof than Jeff Rowe. I actually tend to get a lot of Nevada games down here so I knew a lot about Jeff Rowe, and he was a solid QB, but I think he could of went undrafted, he was nothing really special.
Its the lack of scouting that we have.
I dunno, but now Bengal Dude, your making me depressed knowing we don't have Weddle nor Posluszny.
=(
Man, Weddle is a ST, stud too. Him and Kilmer one day on ST.. wow..

Do you have ESPN Gameplane? I'm surprised that UNR games were actually broadcasted outside of northern Nevada.
I wasn't a fan of the Marvin White pick at first, because so much talent was passed up, but after his initial interviews I thought he was going to be solid for us. Now he's struggling to adapt to our system and isn't really doing anything on ST.
If there's one thing I've learned about Marvin Lewis drafts; is that you need to go into them with a blank mind. He tends to pick players we don't expect at all and leave us puzzled and a little upset, but then we grow to love most of the picks, like Whitworth, a lot of people upset over the initial pick, but he's a popular player now.
But I still don't like Rowe, Rucker, and Santucci. I like everyone

I pick up a lot of WAC and Pac 10 ganes on my Fox Sports Next. I don't have the game plan at all.
I will never like the pick of Chris Perry for however long I live.
Knowing that we traded down when Steven Jackson was right there on the board is something I will never forgive nor forget.

I wasn't a fan of the Perry pick because I wanted us to take Chris Gamble instead. I understood the Perry pick as I sat back and thought about it, which took a long time BTW.
I believe the whole reason of the Perry pick was because of what was going on with Rudi. We hadn't worked out a deal yet with him, which obviously left us thin at RB. Perry's style was a 180 of what Rudi brought to the table. If Rudi was to re-sign with us then we had a back who could compliment his style and we would've had one of the first solid 1-2 punches in the league. Jackson looks like the better pick now, but I believe his pick would've completely offset the Rudi talks. Thus, Perry looked like the more logical pick.
SInce you actually get a good number of WAC games, have seen a good number of San Jose State games? If so, what would you think of drafting Matt Castello?

I do indeed like that Dwight Lowery kid. Have watched him for 2 years now and I think he is a steal.

He is their star LB. He was the top returning tackler from 2006, or at least top-3. I believe he's up for some award. He has a lot of talent, and seems to have a David Pollack kind of attitude, which is something we need. I believe that he'll be a second day pick and I think we could nab him.
I am big on Lowery, of course. I would like him on the Bengals obviously, but at the same time I don't because I think that he can develop into a solid starter. I don't think he'd get any higher than #3 on our depth chart with Hall and Joseph. In most of the mocks I've read he's picked in the 2nd round mostly.

I still remember the message board during the draft when they took Rowe.
Someone said "It's like going downstairs at Christmas with the prospect of so many awesome presents like Shaw, Blade and Siler.....only to find that the the presents, tree and house are all on fire"
We laughed at that for a solid hour.
Then we started doing scouting for other people we could take like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny (with a tremendous vertical leap...but has a tedency to disappear). Ahhh good times

Oh man, those were great times. I remember the whole Santa Claus and Eastern Bunny thing. Didn't we also want to recruit the tooth fairy as a receiver?
I also remember that our draft thread was silent for a few minutes after the Rowe pick. I think the first response to the pick was "Is this a joke?" I wish we could resurect that thread.

I remember that. How we all had different characters and we used them, saying that they ran a 4.2 40, but Santa Clause might have health issues. Man see that makes me excited about the draft again next year.
Good times, also having the board Mock Draft was awesome.
I remember for the Bengals I selected Paul Posluszny and half of the people told me I was an idiot.

Penn State was ranked, Miami U was not. Paul Po was a huge reason why they were Ranked.
Jon Beason's coach.. Where is he now?
So using the college analogy kinda of does not work. Look at Jerry Rice. Came from a very small school.
Chad and TJ came from Oregon State, not the biggest school out there.
Beason is a good player in the NFL, I still take Paul Po.

Ditto. I heard Beason's name a few times and it wasn't always positive. I always heard that Puz would at least provide a great attitude for a team and he's done that in his short time in Buffalo. Beason had a good combine, which is something that I love and hate at the same time.
The combine helps to showcase players' abilities and displays what might be. However, I think that a lot of players' stocks inflate only because of the combine. Chris Henry was considered a good 2nd day pick from fifth round or later and some said that the 4th might be a reach. He has a good combine and finds himself as a productive 2nd round pick. I wasn't happy with the Irons pick at first, but I think I would've been livid if we took Henry instead.

Yeah, the RB Henry not our Arrested Henry. RB Henry averaged roughly 3.1 YPC in his last season at Arizona yet the combine made him a 2nd round pick.
