:rock on: I realize I could be making a mountain out of a molehill but what the F is with all the flags. I’ve been a big fan of Marvin ever since he got here but there used to be a saying about a football team being well coached when a team didn’t beat itself. In other words they didn’t commit penalties that had the effect of shooting themselves in the foot. I’m not talking about the HOF game; we were only in camp for 9 days but last season we were third from the bottom in penalties. We averaged 7.1 penalties a game. The only two teams worse than us were the Eagles and Packers at 7.3 and 7.4 respectively. Way back in the dark ages I played HS ball in the GCL and if we had all the motion and off side penalties the Bengals have, we would be on the practice field on a Saturday afternoon, usually a day off, lining up with coaches barking hard counts until we were motionless for say 30 straight plays. People’s hands would be raw and legs would cramp from the three point stances. One thing is sure though, the next game it wouldn’t happen. Am I overreacting or is this something that needs to be fixed for this team to reach their goals?

It is a huge problem. The whole line and 85 should be doing the drill you did in HS until they can get their act together. It is also holding and an occassional delay of game penalty that quickly add up to losses and boring games.

I agree with delay of game penalties but sometimes the holding calls, in pass protection, is to save your QB's life. There are some other calls for instance when a DB is beat deep and he makes an obvious hold, it's to save six. It's those off side, motion, lining up in the neutral zone and delay of game that I'm talking about.

No your not overreacting,,,,this is a coaching issue, its been a problem for 3 years now and they still havent fixed it, its time the coaches start acting like a dad and punishing these players until they learn their lesson.
