So i know how there is all of these postes going around calling for Darren McFadden, Glenn Dorsey, Chris Long, and other obvious top players like these. I want to know if you could have any player besides the top players who would it be and why do you think they are so great?

We don't need a MLB, but Jasper Brinkley from South Carolina will be a steal for some team. He was First Team All-SEC in '06, but he has been out for most of this season with an injury. He is 250 lbs, and makes plays all over the field. I don't know his forty time, but he plays very very fast for a man his size.

As a Tennessee fan I just prayb that he doesn't come back for his final year of eligibility.

I'd like to see us get one of either Vince Hall or Xavier Adibi. This is mostly because I am a big hokie fan, but these two are also the one of the best LB tandems in the country. I personally prefer Xavier, but many others would say Vince.

I'd give you some stats, but i don't really have any on hand. But these guys tend to be those types of defenders that are pretty much always there on every play. Both are strong players on a defense that prides itself on speed and hard hitting.

Anyway, my 2 cents....

EDIT - I am not saying lets take them with the top pick, but at some point in the draft

Yup they would be solid pick ups but not first rounders

I'd say Owen Schmitt FB from WV. 6'3" monster.. Rumored to run a 4.4. I think he will be better than Alstott?.I have a whole post under jungle noise called "let me be the GM" that explains my reasoning.
-If Mario Manningham comes out (i believe he is a junior) he is a tremendous athlete and a nice pick up in the later rounds if he fell.
-J Leman from Illinois. solid LB probably good draft value.
-Nakamura from UC is just a old fashioned hit you in the mouth hustle every play solid player. Once again i think would be great draft value.
-another wr a would take a chance on if he were available late would be Tiquan Underwood from Rutgers. Chad could mentor him and i think he could handle returns.. great athlete.

I know all the big name DT's like Dorsey and such but who has some idea about mid-round DT's that will be available.

Tennessee TE Brad Cottam, 6'8", 270, has nice hands and has run a sub 4.7 forty. NFL scouts were drooling over him before he broke his wrist in the preseason. He just returned last week and had a 40+ yard catch against Kentucky. His history of injuries will probably drop him to the later rounds, but his rare combination of size and speed will get him drafted despite missing most of this year. He was injured a lot early in his career, but played in every game in '05 and '05.

He could be one of those guys that blows scouts away at the combine.

I like this kid and i say we take him later on in the draft. We should be done with injuries for a few years after the year we have had.

I don't think injuries are just a matter of bad luck. Guys like Brooks, Henderson, Irons had majory injury problems in college. Guys like C. Miller, Jeanty, T. Perry, C. Perry have been injury riddled since they've been in the NFL. It's a matter of how long to do you keep or pick up injury plagued players??

Or we even surprised about Levi. I thought it took a lot of guts for him to play 7 days after Arthroscopic knee surgery in 2003 but I don't think the knee has ever been the same since.

I think it's a bad idea for the Bengals to pick a player with an injury history at this point. It's the same thing as picking up a character flawed player. Maybe if he's around in the 6th or 7th round you take a chance. But you can't come into the season depending on him or another injury plagued player and then when that player('s) gets injured blame the teams problems because of all the injuries.

I agree with you 100% thats why I am one of the people calling for McFadden but thats different we need to do some rebuilding of the roster in the offseason nothing big though just bring in some new players with out the injury history.

Anthony Munoz had knee surgery in college. He ended up being pretty durable in the NFL. TJ was injured for most of his first three seasons here, but he has been pretty healthy since. Willis McGahee blew out his knee his senior year at Miami, but Buffalo took him in the first round anyway. Antonio Cromarti had a lot of injury problems in college, but he has turned into one of the best DBs in the league in just his second year.

On the other hand Ki-Jana Carter, Chris Perry, and David Pollack had no history of injuries in college.

No doubt you can take a couple of isolated cases of players with injury problems in college who ended up not having problems in the NFL just can find players who had character red flags in college but turn into perfect citizens once they get to the NFL.

The problem with the Bengals is that they've taken too many of these types of players. Maybe a couple will pan out but the vast majority will continue to have problems. That's why we don't take character flawed players anymore and I would like us to shy away from players with past injury problems. It doesn't guarantee that they these players won't develop injury problems in the NFL but I like their chances a whole lot more than the player who comes into the NFL with baggage.

Also, we seem to hang on to players for too long once they develop injury problems in the NFL. C. Miller has been injured every year he was here but that didn't stop us from resigning him last year. Already in Jeanty's 2 years in the NFL, he's missed half the games due to injury. I'm sure next year will count on him to be the starter again and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he ends up injured. a. Chapman is another player that seems to get endless chances and eats up roster space every year.

BTW, TJ was not injured when he got selected, he was nicked up his first couple of years but played 14 games in '01 and all 16 in '02. It was his entire 3rd year that he missed due to injury.

After watching Oklahoma Missouri tonight, I wouldn't mind Curtis Lofton from Oklahoma, if he comes out. He has been impressive.

I watched him too. He had a great game, but did he do it all season?
He did have a very good game against Mizzo the first meeting too.
