My passion for the Bengals is dead and Mike Brown doesn't care.
The Steelers are in the championship game again..............................
Sorry I just puked saying that.
I hate the Steelers more than any other NFL team.
Maybe because they have an easier road to the playoffs than most NFL teams outside the AFC North.
Plain and simple the Bengals and Browns just don't usually get it done and aren't very competitive year after year.
Two winning seasons in last twenty years for our Bengals.
I'm still a fan but not like I once was.
Look at these divisions and tell me who has the easiest road to the AFC playoffs.
AFC EAST
Buffalo Bills (disrespected)
Miami Dolphins (respected)
New England Patriots (respected winners but ridiculed cheaters)
New York Jets (respected, but ridiculed cheaters)
AFC NORTH
Baltimore Ravens (respected)
Cincinnati Bengals (disrespected,ridiculed losers)
Cleveland Browns (disrespected, ridiculed losers)
Pittsburgh Steelers (respected winners)
AFC SOUTH
Houston Texans (respected)
Indianapolis Colts (respected winners)
Jacksonville Jaguars (respected)
Tennessee Titans (respected)
AFC WEST
Denver Broncos (respected)
Kansas City Chiefs (respected)
Oakland Raiders (disrespected,ridiculed)
San Diego Chargers (respected but underachievers)
The NFC has a team to humiliate too.
Detroit lions (disrespected,ridiculed)

Haha, I know it is horrible! You watch the Bengals lose in the early game and you think darn at least I can pull against the Steelers later and they make some team look silly. I do really like hating the Steelers team though!

i'd have to say that unfortunately my passion for rooting for the bengals has been replaced for true hatred for ownership and their inability to make any changes to improve the team.
passion has been replaced by frustration which is really really sad.
in the past i would stay excited because i would believe no one could be as dumb as people think they were (they being mike brown and co.) and would at least show signs of trying to improve even though we all knew they didn'[t have a clue what they should do to improve. but now it[s gotten to the point that the more complaining the public makes, the more defiant mike brown becomes and refuses to make any changes just to show who is in charge.
rooting for the team has now taken a back seat to rooting against mike brown.
and that is truly sad.

Well stated - that is exactly how I feel. After 20 years of this nonsense (and that utterly ridiculous press conference) I find myself hating ownership to the point that I don't even care if the team packs up and moves to another city - even though I know this city would never get another NFL franchise. And you're right about Mikey-boy trying to show us who is in charge, he did the same thing to Marvin. However, unlike Marvin, we don't have to take it.

There was a time when I HAD to watch every play. I knew of every player on the roster. Every score, every stat. I bled Orange and Black.
Now?
I want Mike Brown's Bengals to fail as humourously as possible.
And yes, that is sad. But if you know enough about the situation, you know there is nothing the common fan can do to faze Mike Brown. So fk em... I hope they lose every game next season.

If business was down at Krispy Kreme for 20 years, and they had people spitting in thier coffee and rubbing 'special sauce' on their donuts, they'd be out of business. Because normal people do not go back to places that wrong you or produce poor quality.
For some reason, Mike Brown has been able to get away with that for 20 years.

C'mon man. The Bengals are about as good as the Cowboys and Redskins lately. At least their owners try to improve the team by spending money and making changes. Why change the AFC North around, competition with the Ravens and Bengals is what has made the Steelers stronger lately. The Bengals have just taken a big nose dive lately. No need to make us another mamby pamby NFC West. Just sayin'.

Joe, I am just baffled by Mike Brown. He must go to parties and meet people and otherwise place himself in a situation where he wants to be respected and not look like a fool. Certainly he interacts with other owners and would like their respect. I remember years ago when the Commissioner was pushing Mike Brown to make changes, he looked that bad at what he was doing.
And yet, he continues doing the same things that he has been doing for 20 years without bringing in football people or making fundamental changes that others have identified. I never met anyone that seemingly stubborn so I am just mystified and would love insight into his character. After 20 years, he cannot believe that he has just been unlucky for all that time.
I read that the Patriots have had only 1 losing season in the past 15 years. The Bengals have had 15 losing seasons in the past 20 years. Doesn't Mike Brown study what the Patriots are doing in order to try to replicate that rather than staying the course?

For all of you who claim your passion for the Bengals is gone, then it is time for all of you to find a new team to root for. If you are at that point, just go, enjoy a new team because quite frankly, the Bengals wouldn't want you back. Bottom line, find a new team to cheer for, because the rest of us who aren't giving up don't need you. How about starting a new thread in Around the NFL on what team you should all root for next?:denny:

Joe, be honest, you are no longer a Bengals fan are you? Isn't it one thing to say you are a fan, but another to say how much you hate ownership and wish ill will on them in another? I am not sure this is how you wanted to word this, Denny. You are usually very positive, but this wording sounded bleak: "move on to greener pastures... It will never change, because ownership won't either." I think most fans on this board are very much hoping for whatever change will put the Bengals in the league of perennial winners like the Steelers, Patriots, Indy, Philly, and Baltimore, who seem to having winning seasons most years. If fans really believed the future looked that bleak, then I suppose more people would indeed drop off this board and find something more rewarding. But the fact that people come on this board, if only to vent, shows that they remain passionate, even if their words speak otherwise.

Do you think Generation Z 1995-2012 is going to start following this losing franchise?
I'll still be here and talk Bengals by the water cooler but other things in life will take precedence over the Bengals that wouldn't have before.
I'm sorry if you feel differently about me but I have wised up and I will enjoy the NFL in a different way without being PO every Sunday.

Denny, you act like the world is teeming with Bengal fans. Cincinnati isn't even full of Bengal fans anymore. The Bengals need to keep their fans, and the way they do that is show them they are trying to win, and treat their fans with respect. That press conference was a huge insult to the fans, and keeping Bratkowski shows that MB is more concerned with keeping his friends in jobs than he is with winning. People like this are should be held directly responsible for the horrible state of the Bengals franchise. They enable Mike Brown to continue along in his mediocre fashion, doing only the minimal amount to improve the team each year. People like this fill the stadium on Sundays, week-in and week-out no matter how bad the team is. Brown has no motivation to change because he gets rich off of these "loyal" fans no matter how badly and frequently he bungles his job. Its the smart fans with a shred of self-respect that truly suffer. People like the above keep smilin' no matter what crap they are fed, telling themselves that they are the "true fans" because they financially support a terrible owner and allow him to sit in his ivory tower and terrorize the fan base without any repercussions.

:denny:
what team are you switching allegiance too?
Let me make this crystal clear, I do not boo the bengals and never have. I will proudly boo the opponent and if you want to twist that to scew others view of me you are welcome to.
As far as others that are allegedly complaining about my behavior at games, I would rather hear it from them, and will gladly discuss with them soon.

and to say you havent or you don't is funny to me.
don't worry my friend, i haven't skewed anything and dont need to. we've talked a lot in the past and hope to continue our friendship, but when you tell me to find another team to root for because i don't agree with the way the franchise is run by the Browns knowing we've had talks in the past about that very subject and you have agreed and then to come on here like you are the biggest fan of everything mike brown does is a slap in the face of common sense.

calm down denny, it's all good.
for you to tell me who i should and who i shouldn't root for is silly, you have no more right to tell me who i should root for and be a fan of than i do to tell you who you should marry.
now you are the master of all who can dictate who is and who isn't a true fan. lol
you've booed my friend, i've sat in seats and watched you boo akili smith among others many times as he made another horrible play. you've booed the performance as recently as 2008, my last year with tickets by you. i really don't understand your stance at all. it's ok to be honest denny, we all are human and we all know that it isn't a bad thing to boo the team when they do bad. you've done it, but trying to hide that fact is astounding to me.
and in this very post you just said you have been critical of the franchise....so according to you, you are no longer a true fan and should probably move on to another team. let me know who you are switching to.

Not to interrupt the tiff between Denny and Joe, but I was reading this thread and I have to say that I am one of the "fans" who has lost the passion as well. I can't continue to be let down by this organization year after year any longer. I will continue to have a rooting interest in the Bengals because I am a football fan, and because they are the only NFL team in this city. But my days of having an emotional and monetary investment are done. My lack of passion has caused me to sell my COA's this week( at a loss ) and purchase a Reds ticket package. I truly believe that they care what the fans want, or at least they do a heck of a job convincing me they care. In another thread someone mentioned what Marty Brennamen said on the radio about season ticket holders for the bengals being "stupid", and I can't agree more. I'm done being stupid and hope more people will be as well. Ok homers, start bashing!

so Denny, you are very good at telling others "How they should be fans" yet you do the very same things that you criticize on here.

I completely agree.
Us Bengal fans have a right to batch just as much or more than any other fans.
Actually, more and that does not make us any less of a fan. We could argue that we are more
of a fan cause we are sick of the mediocrity and we are more passionate about winning than the
ones that settle for mediocrity.

Yep it's that bad!! As I sat and watched the Ravens and Pitt I was rooting for Balt just so I didn't have to hear the crap about 7 rings and all.I respect Pitt because the OWNERSHIP and players know how to succeed.
So now I can't even root for the AFC because I despise both teams left.I'll be rooting for the Packers for the remainder of this season.
I have been a Bengal fan for 30 plus years but my knowledge and experience regarding this pathetically ran franchise has me considering "greener grass".
The entire coaching staff is plain bad!! Zimmer and Brat are out coached EVERYTIME they face a team with a good coaching staff. Please see Jets,Steelers,Pats and others.
This team does not and will not stand a chance in the AFC as long as the team continues on its current path.Oh yeah and by the way we have been on this SAME path for more than 30 years.
This fan bases only hope is for realignment into the NFC or new ownership and neither is gonna happen anytime soon.
I am a Bengals fan and I wouldn't wish that stigmatism on anyone.
In all of my years as a fan I have never felt such despair or embarassment.
This franchise is just pathetic plain and simple.
The truly sad part is that it really doesn't have to be this way.
So how does it feel Bengal fans to know that Pitt (a small market franchise just like Cincy) will more than likely be playing for another Super Bowl ring while Cincy is laughed at and riddiculed throughout the country once again?
SAD it really is!!!

Can anyone really blame Denny for saying the things he said? I mean I find it hard to log on and read some days, not because of my dissatisfaction with the organization, but because of the tone of the boards. Believe me, Denny and I are just as sick of this situation as you guys, but I think we both try to keep the faith. We all know there are changes that need to be made that are being ignored, but you can't punish youself all offseason and then punish yourself by rooting for the team and watching it lose.
I get where everyone is coming from, so does Denny and so does everyone here. We all just want to have a fun place to post but when things go bad I would much rather have a few positive theads to go along with the blanket of depression that it can become. We have 8 months until the team gets back to playing and I would love to spend some of that time looking forward to something as opposed to lamenting mistakes and dreading 2011.

You're looking at this as a fan problem instead of a management problem. The problem is not discouraged fans, it's the things that MB is doing to discourage them. Your answer is you want a lot of cheery faces? The organization just killed all of our hope with that horrible press conference, then promising changes that never materialized, most apparently the continued retention of Bratkowski. We're all feeling scammed. It's possible this is more of a money making scam than a team now.

Here's where we take different turns: You said: "The ownership won't change no matter what the fans on here do." I choose to be vocal and not spend any money on the team. You choose to be "positive," which I am guessing means you will continue to support mediocrity because you think there is nothing you can do about it. But how can we be positive? We already know that Bratkowski isn't going to get the job done. So it doesn't matter who we draft or who we sign. We've lost already unless there are some changes. Changes, I might add that Mike Brown promised in that horror of a press conference.

I made a thread a couple days or so ago that I think the offense will be better and pretty good next season. Two reasons I did it was because I do believe it first of all, and secondly I felt the boards could use a positive post. The week before however I made a thread that was highly negative of that first week into our off-season relating to bringing Marvin back, press conference and the concessions thing. I'm going to try to be more positive from now on, because being negative all the time about something that one can choose to toss away with a blink of an eye is tiresome and irrational as well if you think about it. With that being said, I won't be 100% happy happy joy joy all the time either. And rather than looking at the glass being half-empty, it will be half-full. Though barely half-full as long nothing major changes in the front office..:smirk:

i'd have to say that unfortunately my passion for rooting for the bengals has been replaced for true hatred for ownership and their inability to make any changes to improve the team.
passion has been replaced by frustration which is really really sad.
in the past i would stay excited because i would believe no one could be as dumb as people think they were (they being mike brown and co.) and would at least show signs of trying to improve even though we all knew they didn'[t have a clue what they should do to improve. but now it[s gotten to the point that the more complaining the public makes, the more defiant mike brown becomes and refuses to make any changes just to show who is in charge.
rooting for the team has now taken a back seat to rooting against mike brown.
and that is truly sad.

Yes and No.
I understand exactley why Denny has said what he says and maybe what gets me is I know just as you have stated that he agrees with a lot of us just like you do, that changes DO need to be made and the frustration is there. But to come on here and instead of saying what is on his mind, comes across and tells anyone who is upset with the situation to simply leave and find another team, that is what is wrong with what he said David.
He should know as well as anyone that a lot of people have to have a way to release the stress they feel about this franchise and to say the things in here is actually a form of therapy for many.
I think what has happened here is some people can't separate the team from the ownership while others of us know the difference. We still love the team, it's "our" team, but we are frustrated with the way the powers that be who have all the control over the teams performance runs it.
we will all be rooting for the "team" next season, that will never change...some may wish for them to lose, not because they don't like the team but because they feel that is the only way to have the way it is run to change. the love for the team will always be there. and that is what Denny simply doesn't understand or didn't understand when he made the post that anyone who complains about MB and co. should just leave and find a new team.
just as you said, we know Denny is as frustrated as we all are with the situation, but to lie about it is what bothers some of us about what he said.
my only advice to denny is if hearing people vent on here bothers him so much, then ignore them and don't respond to them. as i have already let him know, the post i made in here wasn't in response to anyone else, it was how "I" felt, that's all, i was talking about me and only me. I wasn't telling anyone how or who they should root for. I was saying my own feelings about how I felt. his mistake was replying to my post and telling me and other fans who we should root for etc. as if he were the CEO of all football fans. i think that is what rubbed some the wrong way. I know denny too well and as i later said, it wasn't denny, it had nothing to do with Denny, it would be said to anyone who tells someone else how they are supposed to act as a fan and what team they are and aren't allowed to be a fan of.
that's all it was. nothing more.

My passion for this team is not in any way dead but it's in neutral, i mean there is only so much that can be discussed about ownership, player developement , coaching and realize that changes are not being made so i have become numb and can only hope that we have good seasons so that is one reason i don't post much in J.N. which is sad for me .

that is true, we all see that there isn't going to be any significant changes made, if any at all. So we are all surrendered to hoping the team can win next year in SPITE of the ownership.
because that is the only way they will be successful, to win in spite of the ownership of this team. which at the same time will be a double sided sword. if they win we will all be happy but it will only give ownership more ammunition not to make changes and to think they have the correct formula for success.

It will be half full of crap. Nothing more.
I'm confused...I need to look up the definition of "Moderator" and "Administrator" again...:what:
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep.
Mikey promises a lot, but does little to nothing. Just like the Easter Bunny.
The big difference here is that the Easter Bunny made no promises.
we will all be rooting for the "team" next season, that will never change...some may wish for them to lose, not because they don't like the team but because they feel that is the only way to have the way it is run to change. the love for the team will always be there. and that is what Denny simply doesn't understand or didn't understand when he made the post that anyone who complains about MB and co. should just leave and find a new team.
Like the love you have always had for that beautiful girl you could never have, it only builds resentment to see her with that loser.
Sorry to post on another thread, but, this system won't let me start a new thread...for whatever stupid reason. Here is new information I just found....

Guess you can scratch Hue Jackson off the list if they get rid of Brat.
It's old news from yesterday. Good for Hue, wish him the best.

Cool!! Maybe the 50 post rule does work, afterall.
My passion for the Bengals is alive and well and as strong as ever, delusional lunatic homer enabler that I am.

I've noticed that many of the threads these days are regarding NOT buying tickets next season......they are from different perspectives and most of them are well written. It's sad to see the MODS funnel all of these into one thread. I would have enjoyed seeing these message boards flooded with the ANTI-TICKET purchase threads.thumbsdown

Three wins usually ends up being too many for the first pick. Usually, three will get you second.

[You're an enabler, pure and simple. Mike Brown loves fans like you. You fill his pockets with cash every year without him having to do much of anything to earn it.]

Have you read about how excited Lewis is to coach the Mobile game? He said they found Trent Morgan that way. THAT'S WHAT A SCOUTING DEPT WOULD DO FOR YOU, MAVIN AND MIKEY! I just keep getting madder and madder. Yet so many fans think they have some "responsibility" to keep Mikey afloat!

And it's not like we'd sign him anyway

Denny, you act like the world is teeming with Bengal fans. Cincinnati isn't even full of Bengal fans anymore. The Bengals need to keep their fans, and the way they do that is show them they are trying to win, and treat their fans with respect. That press conference was a huge insult to the fans, and keeping Bratkowski shows that MB is more concerned with keeping his friends in jobs than he is with winning. I am still a Bengal fan, but this is looking more and more like a Brown family scam than a team every day, and I am tired of getting scammed.
You only get scammed if you allow yourself to.

Gotta agree with this post. I'm 30 and have always followed the bengals. I've lived in Indianapolis for 5 years and remained a bengals fan even after listening to the talk from friends about how terrible the bengals are. usually this time of year its draft talk and what can the bengals do to get better.
I've completely lost the interest in this team. I've realized that its not making the right draft pick, but the owner that runs this team into the ground. The whole franchise is a mess. How do teams like indianapolis, pittsburgh, new england stay competitive every year. its starts with the owners and GM. Cincinnati doesn't have it.
Is it baseball season yet? i'm done wasting money on the bengals games.

Does the first post become your last post?
Baseball season is right around the coner, brush up on watching baseball, go out side and watch the snow melt.
