I'll pass.
Carson isn't leaving because he wants change. He was cashed out before the last game of the season. The proof is in the interview where he said he could see himself playing elsewhere.
That was before the Marvin re-hire.
He wants out because his ego was bruised by us fans and the media.
He can't accept the fact he is no longer the fan favorite and golden boy.
Poor guys feelings are hurt.
I'll pass.

You seem to believe that if major changes were made Palmer would stay.
I don't believe that's the case.
Palmer wants a fresh start somewhere else regardless.
At this point it has nothing to with change.
He's over this franchise, this fanbase and this city.

Good point Cinc. He could have ****** and whined like Dillon, but he didn't. He could have been like Boomer, and get Mikey some draft picks...they were thinking about thier own careers, Palmer wants change in the organization. He is willing to put his career to an end.
Lol. Sorry man. I just dont feel as though Palmer cares about this team or the direction it's going the same way us as fans do. He has his own agenda.
I absolutely agree. His free pass was nearly gone. People were actually starting to see the real picture, that he just isn't that good any more. When people have been pouring love on you since you were a kid because you were a QB, you get used to that. When it turns, that's a real slap in the ego.
When the owner asks you to take a pay, that sounds to me like handwriting on the wall. Before this happened, how many people were already speculating he wouldn't be here next year and not by his own choosing. So Carson strikes first and it turns out to be a pretty brilliant maneuver. Now, image repaired, Carson rides off into a West Coast sunset with 40 mil he may or may not have actually earned.
I will never forget the epic freakout in the playoff game last year or, even more recently, the last game he played here. I also will never forget how, just like MB, he thumbs his nose at the fans. We fans will take sides in this, but no one will take our side, as always.
They all get the gold, we all get the shaft. There is no room for players or coaches or anyone else under the bus. Under the bus is filled with the loyal Bengal fans who no one has any problem sticking it to.

The only change Palmer wants is his address and jersey colors. His agent didn't say he wanted changes he said that the two sides need to go separate ways. The man is demanding his way out and the fans love him. I don't get how a man can have his worst career as a pro then demand his team trade him and the fans love him and cheer him on. He does not want to play for the Bengals of there fans, it's time to move on.

Thank you Carson for atleast trying to force MB's hand. Someone had to and you might
be the only guy that could pull it off. Carson Palmer is still my favorite player. He has not
lived up to his expectations that is true but he would be the first to admit that.
Carson needs to list his demands to MB.
We need these changes or he needs to be traded to live up to those expectations.
If we do not get these changes i hope MB does atleast trade him so he can go win a SB
somewhere else. He deserves it after putting up with this crap.<_<

I'm sure that he is sick of the situation just like we are-and using his leverage MAY help open people's eyes and set in motion some much-needed change. I have been an apologist and think that he is still a solid QB.
BUT
It is also true that his skills are diminishing, that he has never been a leader, and that he cares nothing about us as fans. If so-he would have spoken up years ago. He'll play well in Seattle where the fans don't even watch the games unless they are in the playoff hunt. But around here we need our QB to be an *****-kicker, a motivator, a leader, and a winner.

Lol. Sorry man. I just dont feel as though Palmer cares about this team or the direction it's going the same way us as fans do. He has his own agenda.
Come back to reality for a second buddy.
There is a HUGE difference between being a fan (us), and it being one's livelihood (CP9). Regardless of what happens here, it will not effect ANY of us, our lives, our income (except somehow if you work for the team), or our families.
This is his livelihood. His way of life. And it DOES effect him, his life, his income, and his family, and his legacy.
There is a high percentage of people, not only in Cincinnati, that make up the majority, that want to see Carson traded, happy, and given a fresh start, which I wish for as well. It is not about being loyal, or a good soldier at this point. Carson has been that long enough, he has given the organization and Mike Brown 8 good years of servitude.
Like Lebron, its just time to move on due to inadequate changes from the front office and lack of commitment to win.
I love the revolution. I'm in. Again, thank you Carson.

OK groupies. Check out the front page where it clearly states Palmer made no demands, which basically means he asked for no changes but the fact he wants nothing to do with this team.
I understand some around here like to make things up to justify themselves and feel better about their stance.
The only fans in Palmer's revolution are the ones who claim they are choosing another team.
So lose this sig and create a new one of your NEW team.

It clearly states on the front page that he made no demands, he just wants out.
What change are we talking about, beside the fact he no longer wants anything to do with this team.
Did I miss the part where he asked for new coaches, more scouts, different players?

He isn't gone. Mike's not going to let him leave. He has to either retire, or come back to play in Cincinnati. Those are his choices. He realizes this, this is why he demands change if/when he comes back.

I really don't care if Carson is just doing this to get changes with the organization, or if he is doing this for self benefit. And I am pretty sure there are many that feel the same way. The point is, that Carson, the good soldier, who has always played ball for Mikey and been a good boy, is defiant, and is no longer willing to put up with Bungldom.
Either way, it is a loud voice of displeasure with Mike Brown. Louder than we could ever be collectively.
Lets just hope Carson sticks to his guns. And wherever he winds up, no matter his performance, I will always wish him success and good will because of this.

only in cincinnati can a bum of a qb and even wore coach make threats like this and still have a job. lewis won't ever be a hc anywhere else in the league once he's fired here. and who the hell could palmer start for? i don't see him beating out anyone in sf. they already have their own "palmer" in alex smith. whitehurst and hassleback both better qb's in seattle. maybe he could give grossman a run 4 his money in washington.

Eh, Seattle would be bad for Carson. Washington would be bad.
San Fran for Carson would actually be good. Very good running game there. And Carson needs a good running game to be successful. And he has proved, even as recent as last year, that he can be successful with a run first offense.

when was that proved? last year was statistically one of his worst seasons ever. the defense and benson carried them 2 the playoffs. yea he had some nice 4th quarter drives but with better play from the qb we would've never been in those positions.
after that he begged for weapons. we get him a future hall of famer, and 2 outstanding rookies. ur right. he proved himself as an average qb. reminds me a lot of derek anderson.

Unlike Chad, Palmer is going about this in a polite, professional manner and because he is the leader of this team and has always displayed a level head, he is of course going to make a much larger impact than Chad did because Chad is a clown and has always had a big mouth and Chad doesn't command the respect around here that Carson has. I would venture to guess that Palmer has a lot of backers among the fans because who would ever have imagined that Palmer of all people would ask for a trade? I wish more Bengals players would stand up and take on that idiot Mike Brown and maybe, just maybe this team might get the change it needs. I would imagine Palmer is totally disgusted that Lewis was rehired, just like most everyone around these parts were. It really doesn't matter what this team does anymore because i have resigned myself to the fact that this team will NEVER be a consistent winner year in and year out with Mike Brown running, or should i say RUINING things.

Your haterism doesn't allow you to think clearly.
When did I ever say that I was choosing another team. You could go through every post of mine and you still wont find it.
And im still confused as to why you don't understand what Palmer is doing. He is taking a stand, something that players on the Bengals normaly don't do.Palmer has clearly said what we have been saying for a while now.He stood up and were backing him.Why is it you have such a problem with this?

Classic sig...
I'm not quite sure what makes CP any different than any other human being on the planet...whether he wants change due to the FO or just new scenery, it's his job and anyone that works for someone like MB and an organization like his would have wanted out a long time ago...he's hung in here this long, that has to count for something...and with ML and Brat back, he can see nothing is going to change...
He can also see that MB is someone who really doesn't want to be a World Champion...

Look, I know this was supposed to be a feel good thread and that's great.
But it's a support Palmer thread and I don't support him.
If I truly believed Palmer was doing this because he cared about the state of this franchise moving foward and was willing to negotiate with Mikey, then I would back him, but IMO that's not what this is about.
Then why in the world would you choose this thread out of 23,484 threads in Jungle Noise to post in?

I'm sure that he is sick of the situation just like we are-and using his leverage MAY help open people's eyes and set in motion some much-needed change. I have been an apologist and think that he is still a solid QB.
BUT
It is also true that his skills are diminishing, that he has never been a leader, and that he cares nothing about us as fans. If so-he would have spoken up years ago. He'll play well in Seattle where the fans don't even watch the games unless they are in the playoff hunt. But around here we need our QB to be an *****-kicker, a motivator, a leader, and a winner.
I don't disagree with a thing you're saying........but to me, these guys are SUPPOSED to be professionals.......why in the hell do we need a guy to do all of these things when these people are paid MILLIONS to do their damn job?!?!?!?! I think he leads by example, he attends ALL voluntary workouts and even does some ON HIS OWN that are not team affiliated. Problem is, no one wants to follow his example besided the guys who are riding the pine. That's the REAL issue in Cincy......no self-discipline among the OTHER players.

It really doesn't matter what this team does anymore because i have resigned myself to the fact that this team will NEVER be a consistent winner year in and year out with Mike Brown running, or should i say RUINING things.

when was that proved? last year was statistically one of his worst seasons ever. the defense and benson carried them 2 the playoffs. yea he had some nice 4th quarter drives but with better play from the qb we would've never been in those positions.
after that he begged for weapons. we get him a future hall of famer, and 2 outstanding rookies. ur right. he proved himself as an average qb. reminds me a lot of derek anderson.
Yea, it's not like he lit it up last year. But he didn't really take a dump last year either. Now, this year, the entire team took a dump.
But there is no denying, when a team looks at Carson, they see promise and value in a running type of offense. And he does have value.

I don't get how fans can hate him, go on record as wanting him gone and then be mad cuz he makes their wish come true.
Pple say he hasn't earned his money, but then are mad he's going to retire if not traded? Isn't that backwards, shouldn't they be thanking him for not bilking the team out of another 50 million.
People are just obsessed with blaming the QB, no matter how bad the coaches are, no matter how bad the receivers are....They wanna blame and hate on the QB, it's nice and simple. They don't have to hurt their little brains considering all the facets that go into producing a winning football team, they can just hate on the QB and call it a day.
Thing is, when their scape goat does exactly what they claim to have been wishing for, they are too set in their hating ways to stop the hate before making hypocritical spectacles of themselves.
Those of you who claim that Carson is dragging this team down should be the first ones cheering this move but you're just proving that you haven't really considered what's best for the team at all. You just rather enjoy trashing the QB as your way of "being a fan".....You haters are just not thinking it through.

palmer revolution? lol
only in cincinnati can a bum of a qb and even wore coach make threats like this and still have a job. lewis won't ever be a hc anywhere else in the league once he's fired here. and who the hell could palmer start for? i don't see him beating out anyone in sf. they already have their own "palmer" in alex smith. whitehurst and hassleback both better qb's in seattle. maybe he could give grossman a run 4 his money in washington.
Why wouldn't Palmer want to go anywhere else. He wants to win. Mikey doesn't seem too worried about winning... Who can blame him? S.F. may need a QB, Alex Smith is a F.A. right now. (Not important)
Mike Brown isn't trading Carson. Marvin was confident if he signed back on, Carson would be there. Marvin couldn't get Chilly in, Brat seems like he is staying, so why would Carson want to keep playing for a team/organization that does not want to win?? He is a fromer Heisman Trophy winner, a #1 overall draft pick, he has won 2 AFC North Championships with this wreck of a team in one of the hardest divisions in the NFL. There is no question Carson wants to win, everyone else above him don't care.
I still can't get this to work.

I agree about Chad. It kind makes me laugh when people try to compare this Carson thing to what Chad did. People have short memories. Chad was a total embarrassment to himself and the human race the way he went about it. He was literally acting insane and saying really amazingly moronic things to the media when he threatened to 'hold out'. There is no comparison at all. It's not even close.

I agree. He still walks in this trend. So what if he changes his name back to Johnson? To my knowledge, he was supposed to do that 2 seasons ago when Revis shut him down. He doesn't follow through. HE NEEDS TO MOVE ON. I don't really care, I have been over him for seasons now. Yawn

This could be an alternative. Why not start crap, or stir the bucket of poo. (sounds like a typical Steeler fan move also...) anything is possible.

Did I miss the part where he asked for new coaches, more scouts, different players?
People are acting like Palmer is doing this to make this a better place when he leaves.

The team looked like a 4-12 disaster with him last year so I don't know how it could get much worse.
I just can't get behind him on this because he was a huge part of the problem last year. I hope he stays because that will be best for the team but he has to realize his timing is bad
He asked for TO to come here so I don't know why people say he is tired of dealing with the divas.
However, I would never side with MB either as his record as owner/GM speaks for itself.
We need lots of changes but I still think Carson is in no position to be making demands. He should be worried about improving his own play and discussing these changes behind the scenes.
I don't blame those of you wanting changes that are long over-due but I can't make Carson the leader/hero of the cause due to the fact that he was a big part of the problem.

You raise a good point. Some of us, myself included, recognized that Marvin is a pretty bad coach, but we wanted him re-hired because we'd heard that "CHANGE" in the coaching staff was his BIGGEST precondition. And that meant getting rid of Brat, our favorite scapegoat, for better or worse.
Many of us also recognize that Carson has had a couple of pretty bad years in a row, and yet we want him back. Why? I see two reasons:
1. We can attribute some of his bad play to Brat and other coaches.
2. Like Marvin, his return is predicated on "CHANGE" (i.e., getting rid of Brat). We think he can be better with a new OC.
So, our priority for change is at OC. We can live with Marvin, and we think that a new OC will improve Carson's performance. There are some old devils we know that we trust more than some potentially new devils that we don't. Bottom Line: GET RID OF BRAT.

I am more for change. (Any) If Carson is the initiator, I have to back him. He only has two choices:
1:Play under the same non-changed organization
2:Retire.
I agree it is strange for him wanting Owens, but Palmer actually did well enough to make Owens a top 3 reciever before the bye week. He was very productive, tough, and he brought the swagger to the Bengals. If Carson would want to deal with this again maybe he has another purpose behind him... :what:

Man enough to live up to the situation.
Carson plays football, he can only do what he is told/instructed/ under a O.C. that is obviously terrrible. Result is: 4-12 under Brat.
Last season we were a run first team under Marvin: 10-6: AFC North sweep. (not to mention Casron played hurt most of the season with his hand/wrist/forearm/elbow to hand off the opposite direction to keep pounding on the ground.
(Carson does opt out of the surgery which is a good idea, if you ever had a surgery, you would know why) He is asked to run a Pass first team, with Chad and Owens who has a lot riding on his contract to make his money. Carson was able to throw to Owens as much as possible. (neglecting the rest of the WR core for most of the part) Owens was 3rd high reciever before the bye. (didn't throw up any red flags? We were 2-5 on a 4 game loss streak heading into Pittsburgh.) Carson wasn't the problem.

I guess I'm weighing out the options we also have as fans:
Carson leaves via retirement because of no changes made.
History repeats itself: The Dark ages relived. In search of a good QB who can play under center with an O.C. with no direction and a coaching staff who does not know how to develop them.

Keep finding excuses to give him a free pass. His play is actually pretty irrelevant to the entire issue. To me it all comes down to being a man and living up to the obligations which you in your own free will commit to. As I have stated before the owner, OC, and HC were all the same when Palmer of his own free will made a committment which entitled him to be the highest paid player in the league at the time. He did not put stipulations on the agreement at the time of signing it so don't try to change the rules in mid game.
If you do not feel you can uphold an agreement then you should not be committing to it. It is all a matter of principle and he has now cemented himself with all the other NFL babies that cannot be men and live up to their contracts.
Matter of fact I did not watch the Senior Bowl as the communist NFL network was airing it.

Retirement is a legitimate option in the NFL, as are trades. So I wouldn't say he wasn't holding up his end of the bargain.
That's it Bonnie keep finding excuses. You are correct trades are a part of the business and so is retirement. I have no problem with either one. If a team looks to trade a players under contract then I feel they are not upholding their end of their agreement unless of course this is a mutual decision reached by all parties.
Likewise, if a player feels it is in his best interest for his health and future and or has reached a point that he does not feel he can perform at a level that benefits the ballclub then I absolutely agree he should retire.
However, that facts are what the facts are and neither of these scenarios apply in this situation now do they? Using retirement as a leverage tool to get your way like a spoiled brat is a far cry from actually retiring for legitimate reasons not isn't it? As well, a trade is not mutually agreeable by both parties therefore he needs to live up to his end of the bargain.
Personally, I hope he continues to use the retirement threat and I sincerly hope that Mike Brown calls his bluff. If he is sincere in retiring rather then playing then let him hit the couch and the Bengals no longer owe him the rest of his money and yet they retain his rights until 2014.

I have no problem with him using retirement as a leverage when Mike Brown isn't doing everything he can do win a championship. I might even borrow your words and say Mike Brown isn't living up to his end of the bargain. And I do believe he will retire. He has bags of money and wants a ring. If there's no chance of a ring, I think he will retire.

So what you are saying is that you believe there was a stipulation on Carson's contract that Mike agreed to that stated that Mike had to do everything Carson thought was possible to win a championship? I obviously have not seen the exact verbage on Carson's contract but I will go out on a limb and say that there is nothing remotely close to those terms in it.
So my original point still stands......there were no stipulations then so do not change the rules in the middle of the game. Just plain and simply be a man and live up to what you agreed to.

Carson isn't leaving because he wants change. He was cashed out before the last game of the season. The proof is in the interview where he said he could see himself playing elsewhere.
