View Full Version : Jake Long
I know this is crazy but. If Willie were to retire, and we lose Stacey Andrews. I would love to see Cincy take Jake long.

If willie retires then Stacey Andrews would resign. We would have the money to pay him that he wants and he would be starting like he wants. Why would he want to leave Cinci? I am not sold on Jake Long he would be great for the passing game but I do not know about the rushing game. We have bigger problems than Tackle but in the second or third would be better place to pick up a tackle.

If Willie retires then you know there's no way were letting Stacy go.I don't think we let Stacy go if Willie doesn't retire, and in my opinion Stacy is the future for us he has learned from the best. He's a keeper.

We can find a tackle later in the draft, we need to take advantage of some of these "once a generation" players.
Besides, I see Long going to the Dolphins, Texans or Raiders.

If Jake Long fell to us then we either select him, if Stacy is gone and groom him for the future, or we trade the pick because someone will want capitalize on him. I don't see him falling past the top 3, but you never know happens every year.

I agree, but I think we trade the pick, I really don't think we need him. I think there are too many teams that are going to want him, and will be offering major picks to try to trade up and get him.
Besides, with our defense, and the way Stacy Andrews has played, if we draft a LT, to put at RT when we have so many holes...then we're asking for a Miami reaction.

I wouldn't mind seeing McFadden or Long to fall to us because I think someone will offer up a good chunk of their draft to get one of these guys.

If McFadden falls to us, I wouldn't be mad if we took him, he did an excellent job against LSU. That "hog wild" formation they have where they line him up as a QB is sick! The guy could be a more powerful LT...he runs a 4.3, which for his size is really impressive.
We have Perry (chronically injured), Irons (coming off a dangerous knee injury), 3D (probably won't be kept unforunately), Watson (good put turning 30), Rudi (he's been beaten up, and he would better suit the team as a short yardage back). So, we could definately use McFadden.
However I'd pass on Long, just don't think we need him.

I agree Buckeye, I'm all for grabbing McFadden. He's considered to be the #1 prospect in the draft this year and if he fell then we need to take him, unless someone is willing to give up their whole or at least big chunk of their draft for him.
The Saints didn't need a RB, but they couldn't pass up Bush. The Lions didn't need a WR, but they took Johnson and both look like smart picks at this time. McFadden would be the player we may not need right off the bat but he's too good to pass up.

You mean like the fortune we were offered by the Saints for the 3rd pick when we took Akili Smith?
Nope.......still can't laugh about it.

That was definitely tough to see us not take their draft away. Just more of our dark ages luck.

Don't get me wrong I'd hope we are smart enough to Pay Andrews and keep him around. But this is the Bengals front office we are talking about.

Look at the big contract they gave to Carson, Chad, Levi. They are not afraid to spend money on player that are on the team. The franchised Justin look at hwo much money that is. They do not like to go out and spend huge money on Free Agents and right fully i do not believe they should.
