Please mike brown, sign 1 impact free agent this year. I'm so sick of year after year, we dont do anything in the offseason to get better. We get the same thing EVERY year in the draft, we get 1 impact player, 1 mediocre player, and 1 guy who is a GREAT backup for depth. WIth that formula mike, its going to take you 22 years to build through the draft, and by then 7 of ur draft picks have retired. DO SOMETHING in the offseason PLEASE. We're sick of losing, and i'm sure you're sick of your TICKET SALES and MERCHANDISE SALES gonig down the drain. SIGN CHANNING CROWDER, U SHOULDA SIGNED VINCE YOUNG, YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN HIM ON THE CHEAP LIKE YOU WANT! Bruce FRIGGIN Gradkowski and THOMAS HOWARD are NOT THE ANSWER TO WINNING CHAMPIONSCHIPS. Well we now know he won't sign an impact free agent for at least two more years because there is no minimum to spend until 2013. Back to the 90's for at least the next couple of seasons.

Gradkowski will lead us to the promised land.

Hey, as you said, it will take 22 years to build through the draft. Wait 2 more years and the genius plan will come to fruition!!! As much as I hate it, there isn't much to go after in this free agent class. My guy would be Clinton Portis, play him as a 2nd back to B Scott and he's known as the best blocking RB in the game and he could be an asset to this team. I'm sure Mike wouldn't see it, he can only look at so many players by himself.

I hate to beat a dead horse, But I'll say this in case no one remembers.....
MICHAEL BROWN doesn't give a rat's patootie about the fans. I'm not some overzealous fan. Palmer, Joseph, Chad all knew this. Everyone on the team knows this. Marvin NOW knows this. Zimmer just found out. We are all screwed.
Every season, I usually take 2 trips to 'Natti to catch games. I fly all the way from NOLA to go watch the only NFL team I've ever loved play. I own 4 authentic Bengals jerseys: Carson, Chad, J.Joe, and P.Dub. All goners. MB is running this team into the ground.

Seriously, When I see an organization like the falcons, who have 3 guys who not only know what they are doing, but are classy, well run and respected from the top, it makes me wonder why the EFF I ever chose the bengals. Ahh yes, I lived in cleveland at the time and was from cincy, and all I could think about was how bad the browns were, and even though my bengals went 2-14 that year, I stuck by their side. We hired marvin lewis and it seemed I had made the right choice. Looking back, I may have been better off choosing the browns. Atleast they have an owner who changes his formula if he doesnt win.

What is a championschip? Not sure what one is so is it a good thing to win a championschip?

Howard is a good signing for this franchise. If people would do some research rather than just assuming things these boards would be much more interesting.

Howard over his first 4 seasons averaged over 78 solo tackles and 16 assists. He has 2 TDs on Int. returns. The guy ran a 4.42 - 40 at the combine (best among LBs in 2006). Unfortunately, he was the victim of a defensive scheme change by the Oakland Raiders in 2010. This guy, make no mistake, is a very good 4-3 LB.

Why is there not more talk here about Nate Clements? In fact, he's hardly getting mentioned on NFL network.

Isn't he more our speed now that he's slightly out of his prime?

(Never mind the fact that we could have probably traded Carson for him before he was released.)

Same old stale inaccurate response.

How many times have you been told?

Changing team allegiance is not like changing the channel. Stop acting like it is. Your "love it or leave it" act is being tired, especially during this offseason.

It is possible to be a fan of the team, but also be disgusted with the way that team is operated.

I'll never know why that is so hard for you to understand. But hey, to each their own. I'll never understand how someone can drop 300 down at PBS for a team owner that isn't even trying to win. But to each their own, I guess.

If he isn't going to match an offer for Jonathan Joseph why would he sign an impact player.

Mike doesn't care about the bengals fans. He only cares about maximizing profits.

I agree, I have loved this team for roughly 20 years and I am trying to will myself to find a secondary team (Panthers) I can love and transition over to that team to save me money and heartache. I love the Bengals, it is a shame MB doesn't.

This team needs a lot more than a journey man QB, a back up LB and a decent to good OG especially after losing the starting QB and great CB. This team won 4 games last year and is waaaaaaaaay under the cap!! This is very clear evidence that ownership doesn't even come remotely close to caring about winning, their sole concern is monetary gain.

Easier said than done. With the history of every good bengals player wanting out what makes you think that any impact free agent wants to come here. That's why we can only sign college free agents. The only free agents that would come here are the ones LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY IN THE NFL (Bruce Gradkowski). Need I say more

No "impact" free agent will come here for years. Mr. Brown shot himself with how he handled Carson Palmer.

Let's face it - if you're a top-flight player in the NFL, and the bengals offer you a 30 million contract, and Houston, Denver, Oakland, or other team that isn't a perennial contender offer you 22...Denver, Houston or Oakland will get those guys at least 80% of the time before Cincy, despite offering 8 mil more.

This is spot on. The only way Mike Brown can even begin to fix things is to trade Palmer, get some value for him, and apologize to the fans for his mistake. Of course, that will never happen, and good free agents won't come here for years. He has set the team back so far there may be no chance to recover. Good news is, he has pockets full of cash he's hoarding. He's a fricking disaster. He's ruined his father's team to the point that there may be no fixing it.

So I went to the ESPN web site where they have the a ranking for the free agents. I sorted the players based on the ranking. Then I scanned down until I found the Bengal's big splash:

Thomas Howard LB Raiders, ranked as the 177th best free agent available this year.

Now I have seen where the MB apologists say that he is better than the 2nd player that he appears to be. Even if that is true and he was mis used in the wrong system, how much better do you think he is going to be, maybe 120th?

Our big splash was the 177th best free agent, and we have one of the largest cap spaces in the league.

He's got a 30-17 record as a starter. Titans went 15-18 without him. He'd be a better option than Bruce for sure. I'm not saying he's a great QB, but he's a winner.

I am going to start spending my time trashing this team, until team management restores some hope. And the 6th or 7th best rookie QB is not hope. Prior to the Draft, we failed to sign our 2 highest priority off season FAs ..... JJ and Benson exposing them to Free Agency and the risks therein. In the Draft, we passed on a great CB/S (Peterson) and about 5-6 higher rated QBs for a WR who will have a career 3rd stringer (Gradkowski) or a 2nd round rookie throwing to him. We've not signed legitimate replacements yet for Palmer, Chad, and JJ. We've cut about $25-30M in salary (Palmer - $12M, Chad - $6M, Antwan - $6M, and JJ - $10M if resigned). We were already $30-40M under the salary cap. Where or when is this $50-70M going to be spent? ????? We've not resigned Leon Hall, and Keith Rivers, - who I now think would be smart to holdout for a new $50M contracts (Joseph money) - and force Mikey to resign them now - rather than risk injury for a team that might repeat with 4-5 wins. (If I were their Agent, that's what I would advise.) I thought Mikey/Marvin said this was the year we were going to win ...... "great excitement". OK, I just saw we resigned the highly paid and top tier Cosby, Roland, and Livings - now my faith is restored! Ha.

As I said, I'm not spending my money until some hope/expectation of winning is restored.

What exactly is ther Palmer situation? I know he said he was "retiring" but has he filed his papers yet? What is his status if he delays filing? Is he still a Bengal until he files such? Is he being paid by the Bengals until he files such or is traded/released? I know that the Bengals would never release him because then he could go to whatever team he wants - and that would be a Lose-Lose - but I know that Mikey must be puking if he is currently drawing a salary and slow-walking filing his retirement papers.

I just saw where the Eagles got DRC, Vince Young, and Asomugha in FA, and lost Kevin Kolb (a second stringer). Well, we got Roland, Livings, and Gradkowski and lost Palmer, Chad, and JJ. Is there something broken with this picture? Wanna wager who is probably going to have the better team?

Clements is a shell of the player he once was, he was so bad last year that the niners didnt try to re-sign him and their secondary is worst than ours.

We will sign an impact free agent, it will be a running back since we dont have one that can carry this offense through its WCO growing pains. So i expect Benson to be back soon.

So you don't think the Bengals could have made a convincing offer???

Up till this point the only really bad thing in the off season was the Palmer debacle - and frankly there has been mixed feelings accross the industry as to whether that was a bad thing (except not trading him - and there are those...).

He had a 1st class DC, a respectable defense and an excellent bookend corner to work with - as well as an emerging D-Line who can put pressure on the passer.

It was about the money - and the Bengals did't pony up an amount that would have left them close to 40million under the cap.

An excellent offer my backside!!! He chose the better offer. He was just being polite

Right on. The Chargers over-paid to keep Weddle, making him the highest paid safety in the league. The Bengals had the ability to do exactly the same with Joseph if it came to that.

It's like Christmas in July to ol' Mikey right now. He has 3 of his top starters off the roster and all this extra money he can pocket this year. **** winning when you can pocket tens of millions of dollars doing the opposite. Parity, as it exsists now, is total ********.

2010's - new decade of sadness...

It's not that bad, be we're heading that direction. Jay Gruden really has to have his A game if this team wants any chance of competing this year. Our Offense will be our biggest weakness.

For Fantasy purposes, i'll probably pick up any defense playing the Bengals this year.
