During Chad's time here I found myself defending Chad against out of towners all the time. I said the same things that I expect a lot of you did. That Chad is just having fun and his antics are just his way of enjoying the game.

Now that he's gone it's like a drugs effects have lifted. Chad was a great reciever here but it feels great not to have this loose cannon shooting off his mouth before every game.

After watching film of AJ Green, Jerome Simpson, Jermaine Gresham, and Andy Dalton in the preseason, opposing defensive backs went out and bought their own Pepto-Bismol. They didn't need anyone to send it to them.

He wont be missed much in my camp. I grew tired of his antics around '05-'06. His performance on the field was still very productive but I got sick of all the "look at me" moments

it got old when he did and his production fell.

it was fun to watch for awhile, but i want somebody focused on football and winning, not trash talk and looking good. Simpson is burning to prove everyone wrong, i hope he doesnt catch chad syndrome if he lights it up,,,AJ being a rookie of course is looking to prove something, i think these two if they get the ball will do good things.

I have a feeling these 2 guys will do ok this year an help out when called upon. I also know they will have their up's and down's like any other young receiver. Also on top of Dalton being a rookie himself and us planning on running alot. They may not have 1000 yards receiving this year but it don't mean they had a bad one either. I think they both will be stars in this league (at least I hope so).. I just don't see it being this year. I do think the Bengals will have a good year this year. Better then most ppl are giving them credit for.

oh yeah i agree, i highly doubt either of them hits 1000 yards this year,,,when dalton (if) gets better and we pass more, than yes i can see them both having close to or over 1000 yard seasons. I dont care long as they help move chains, score TDs, make plays.

While, I personally will miss Chad and his antics, it was clearly time for us to move on. We're transitioning into a youth movement, and Chad had simply run his course here in Cincinnati. I wish him and the Patriots the best, until we meet them in the playoffs. :ninja:***

***I don't actually believe we're making the playoffs, but I don't think this team is as bad as most people make them out to be, either. I'm personally predicting 7-9.

I fault Marvin for most of it. He never seems to REALLY be in control of his players. Note: anyone notice how serious and low key Chad is in the NE camp?

I used to laugh and make jokes about Marvin, but on Hard Knocks, after the loss to the Rams, the way he went off on his players. It really changed my opinion on Marvin. I'm in the minority here when I say that I think he's a decent coach. I just really wish he would work on his clock management and work on his judgement of the challenge flag.

Chad is low key in NE camp because Billy B. doesn't play that ****. Also, Chad still hasn't seemed to get a grip on the NE offense. He's still out screwing around, just not as much trash talking as when he was here. It's hard to talk trash and have all the cute "Pepto" moments when you don't even know where you are supposed to be on the field and when you are supposed to be there. There is a lot of anxiety and nervousness in NE right now, centered around the fact that Chad is expected to be a top receiver in the scheme, but doesn't know jack. I personally loved having Chad in Cincy, but at the same time, with our new youth movement, he simply cannot exist in this environment. We have too many young players at important positions that need to focus on the game, and not on their own or someone else's ego. And yes, I too fault Marvin Lewis for not being in control of Chad. On that same note, you have to wonder how many times Marvin tried to do something about Chad, but was overruled by Mikey. See Chris Henry for example.

I will always be a Chad Johnson fan. That other guy, not so much. Totally agree about the cloud lifted. I have friends form other places too and I was pretty tired of hearing it myself.

Agreed. Chad Johnson/Chad Ochocinco are kind of like Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Chad Johnson was a great player, a great personality, and fun to watch. He was then "killed by", or turned into, Chad Ochocinco, when he went to the Dark Side.

I think your first problem was "defending" him. Anyone who feels the need to defend their team or a player on it lacks self-confidence in my book.

Hey, I'm a Bengals fan. So what? Your team won six-billion Super Bowls? So what? I'm a Bengals fan. You hate the crazy stuff Chad did this week? So what? I'm a Chad fan and you can blow it out of your butt.

I'm not an apologist Bengals fan. I like the players I like, no matter if you like them or not. I like the team I like, no matter if you like them or not. I also dislike the players I dislike, no matter if you love them or not.

I am my own man.

Im glad all this done. We get to talk about serious things now, like the Oline or our DBs....not the Diva receivers. This board has gotten so much more fun to read since we rid ourselves of those ladies ( my join date?? im a lurker...and have another SN) Chad is exhausting

I think Chad's act got old when he changed his name, demanded a trade and stopped producing. He seemed funny and likeable when he was putting up 1400 yards and 9 tds. Not so much when he's posting 800 yards and 4 scores.

Honestly, I think that is because up until he changed his name, he was focused on being, first and foremost, a football player. The name change was the last step in his transition from being a WR to being a tv personality.

Now that chad is gone and in the twilight of his career, as is TO, the next diva receiver the NFL will see is Dez Bryant. The guy is already in trouble with his finances, owing money on jewelry he had no intentions of paying for.

Chad has repeatedly proven over the past two years that he wants to pursue other things besides football. When he loses his celebrity, when his days in the NFL are done, he is going to scratch and claw to stay in the spotlight.

Hmm, I hope Chad makes the HOF just so we can all complain that 2/3rds of the Hall Of Famers who played for the Bengals are diva WRs we can't stand. HA!

Chad isn't a bad person, Chad just chose to focus on things other than football and he suffered from it ! And so did we.

No? I mean, Chad has not been serious and low key during NE camp. There was the roommate thing, and the paying the other guy's fine thing, and other stuff too. It is still all about Chad.

I also know Bill threatened to cut him. Will he produce for NE with Brady throwing to him? Maybe. If he drops a few though, I'm sure Brady will throw to Welker or someone else more.

For a 6 year period, Chad was a top 5 receiver and a joy to watch. That's what I'll remember the most. He was fast, and his sideline catches were some of the best I've ever seen.
